I studied French, Italian and Spanish.

Italian is the easiest language.

Of course Italian is the easiest of them all ;)

Just check some football players. Players like Vieira, Karagounis, Figo, Julio Cesar, Maicon etc could talk in Italian after a few months! (Vieira had the advantage of probably knowing it some years ago at milan...)

Btw, Crespo cannot speak English yet

Besides Hungarian I speak English, German and Italian.

After English German wasn't too difficult but I don't like it cuz it's not a nice language and that can make you hate learning it.

Italian... well it's a nice language, that helps, but when you want to learn the grammar in depth, well it gets difficult. I enjoyed learning it though.

I guess much depends on what's your native language. We Hungarians have a huge disadvantage there since our language is quite unique in the world so there's nothing similar to it which could be easily learned.

Btw did you know that if you speak Italian you can learn Romanian very easily? It's a very simple language and when I went there I was suprised how much I could understand just based on my Italian studies.

Khalifa..then go for Spanish. You learn Italian more or less automatically with it and it's of more use.

 When I heard Romanians speaking I first thought that they were Italians with a funny accent    And you know, at post-match conferences, where coaches speak, there's this Romanian coach speaking, and I was facking translating what he was saying before the translator to my friends  It's almost the same!

Romania was the name of the Roman Empire once upon a time ;)
Greeks cannot speak many languages due to their funny accent :p I'm glad I'm Cypriot and been influenced by English, coz I can learn all languages equally, including Chinese, Arabic, Euro-languages etc (Maybe not African lol) But I only speak Greek, English, French, and know some Italian and Spanish. I'm gonna go deeper on the last two though, and then hit it for either Portuguese/central european language/Russian... :p

Spanish is harder than Italian btw Khalifa. But, with any Latin based european language, you can learn the other, specially those lying in the Mediterranean. And since you live in Canada, I'd, too, suggest Spanish, since there are many Hispanics around you :)

Spanish however has from what I know the easiest grammar. There are no exceptions...

But I guess that shouldn't be an issue for someone who knows arabic, because no language except for hungarian beats the arabic grammar.

Don't tell me, they're our beloved neighbours. :)

The Romanian have nothing to do with the Romans, they just want to make people believe it so they look smarter. Their nation wasn't present at the territory at the time of the Roman occupation, they moved in much-much later.

OFF topic though, sorry.

I have a Hungarian friend at school btw, I'll ask him to "teach" me some Hungarian and tell me some stuff. He's in Cyprus for 3-4 years now, and he understands Greek quite well, I don't think he can write, and he only knows how to say some phrases :p
It's up to the person really, but I'll try and see how much time I'll need to learn how to write and pronounce(I can already do that :)) Hungarian words etc...

Seriously, Greek is the most complicated langauge ever! Semetic(Hebrew+Arabic) and Far Eastern writing systems are too weird and complicated for me, but from what I know they are not that hard. Greek also has a special writing system, an ancient one, and some letters, or compinations of letters, produce the same sound etc! You can find Greek speakers that can't spell very good even after their 40's or so... And in addition, Greek vocabulary is one of the largest, and maybe largest in the world

Advice: Don't try to learn Greek :D

Wonder if I can
My good friend is learning Greek and Hebrew (+ English and French) so I can ask him to compare both languages. Btw, his father is Greek language tutor at his faculty but does not give lessons to his group.

I had some hungarian friends and a friend of my sister went from Austria to Budapest to study at Semmelweiss. A lot of Austrians actually do this..Semmelweiss simply beats any medical school in central europe by miles.

However, they gotta learn Hungarian too..

But hungarian sounds really nice..I like the flow of the language.

If by "cypriat", you mean the cypriot accent, then of course there's a similarity. It's the same:D
Cypriots speak Greek, but with a different way. As Cyprus was conquered by many people, it got a bit influenced by them, and some new Greek words/transformations weren't followed, so in the Cypriot dialect we have more ancient words inact, than modern Greek language.
Greek is quite okay to learn how to speak. The writing part is the hard(unique alphabet, huge grammar, huge vocabulary etc)

A nice site about the Greek language... http://www.translexis.demon.co.uk/new_page_2.htm
