i guess a real derby is seldom a derby between two teams of the same city, because the supporters on the stands also see in the rivals their fellow citizens. i don't recall any accident involving genoa and sampdoria supporters, just to name another derby.

roma vs lazio is apparently an exception but the supporters are more or less also geographically divided: there are much more roma supporters in the capital itself, lazio supporters seem to have some kind of a patchy distribution inside the region lazio.

Manchester derby would never matter today if it's not because of Emirati guy.

I normally am against all Moratti interviews because he's so quick to always say "scudetto", but this right here, is gospel, sig material, and a quote needed for all new Inter fans, and some old ones too who may forget...

I mean Milan didn't make some bullshit documentary with lies about us. Pretty easy choice.

You were doing so well until that last example

Well, let me start by saying that the English teams are nowhere near the same level of hatred and they tend to find local rivalries more important. This is evident with the London clubs where everyone pretty much has a strong dislike towards Tottenham despite their stature in football being relatively small, yet they all agree that on a sporting level their attention is larger when it comes to Man Utd and Liverpool when it comes to Arsenal. London football clubs haven't really been that important histroically so they're more consumed with each other (Spurs, West Ham, Chelsea, Milllwall, Crystal Palace etc) But the Man Utd fanbase is essentially outside of urban Manchester so they view Liverpool as their main and historic rival. The newer generation also viewed Arsenal as such, being that a large number of their fans are actually Londoners and it was fun to beat a London strong club in the process. Though this was born with Wenger so its roots are very thin. The only exception in England is Leeds United. They hate everyone and everyone hates them.

As for your objection, when it comes to City fans, their dislike towards Utd is the most fierce, as they have no other rival, but it's not really true the other way around. Man Utd fans barely cared about Man City despite that team always giving them trouble during the Fergie years (when they weren't relegated that is).

But back to the point, there's probably no grown Italian Interista that will say he dislikes Milan more than Juventus.

My friend is a diehard Manchester United fan, and he hates Liverpool the most, Man City is on the second place easily tough.

In our case, I hate the more successfull club out of Milan and Juve, and now its Juve.

Who do you hate out of foreign clubs? I hate Barcelona because of that semi final poor sportmanship display, when they turned on their grass bayonets while our players were still celebrating CL finals. I hate these instant clubs too, like Chelsea, Man City, PSG etc. F*** all of them.

This is a massive week for Juventus and they have started it perfectly by ending Napoli's unbeaten run.I expect Juve to beat Olympiakos and seal their spot in the Ucl knockout phase and enter our game with loads of confidence. They had a shaky start to the season but by beating us i think the initiative will shift completely in favour of Juve in the league and i do not expect them to make mistakes like losing away to Samp. They would have ended the unbeaten streaks of both their rivals within a week and progressed in the Ucl.

I would love for us to put a spanner in their works and i am hoping Sporting and Olympiakos do the impossible tonight :D to shatter their confidence.Fingers crossed.

Hopefully Gags and Vecino put in fantastic performances and we continue to stay unbeaten.A point will be just fine for me.Gags-Valero-Vecino to start and hopefully Gags pulls himself together.Higuain and Dybala will not be as wasteful as Milan,Napoli and Roma forwards were.In all the big games we have played so far a few clear cut chances have been created by the opposition and i fear Piguain and Dybala are not the types to miss em.Hope i am proven wrong.I really really just want to continue our unbeaten run.We have achieved a lot already but it will be so frustrating if this unbeaten run comes to an end at the hands of Juve.

I do think derby has social meaning. Two teams in the same region does not necessarily make their match a derby. Supporters of each team must socially perceive other as enemy. This kind of imagination is discursively constitutive throughout history and I can see derby as an institution.

Juve have started their main XI tonight apart from Buffon and Chiellini. This is awesome, hope Olympiakos make them run hard!! We will have an opportunity in the 2nd half on Saturday when there will be some tired zebras waiting to be put down...

So glad i read this, i thought that match was on sunday!! Surprised Juve have to play Tuesday then Saturday again. Good though..two tough away games. Im also happy they beat Napoli heading into this game. Think its better than juve having a point to prove in the league against us.

It was a classic Milan against Benenvento and now the pictures of that goal by the goalkeeper are all over the world. They are now -18 from us and I would be lying if I told you that I am sorry for them

I'm going for a 100%, it's gonna be Santon, Valero, Vecino and Gags.

Moratti: Is Skriniar like Samuel? I never like to do comparisons.

Also Moratti: Spalletti lives in the players' head just like Mourinho did.

Moratti lives in the past.
When we are on the top of the table, he want to claim all the glory.

Moratti is a fan, that was his problem, he couldn't be objective, cold hearted and calculated and that is what I love and hate about him.
