I still can't follow this logic of yours Johnny. I mean that if a player is 24 years old, with 6 months exp of Serie A, he can't develop more from his current level during additional 1 year exp of Serie A? We are building the squad for the future. I think Kucka will come exactly as long-term replacement for Dejan Stankovic, who is really fading now with his constant injuries. Stankovic would be still very useful if the constant injuries weren't here but they are (and he is still useful but not very useful).

I think our current midfield is so weak, that a player who we are considering as a long term starter for us starting from next year (8m for a half, he shouldn't be a squad player; Sahin and Vidal went for 10m), should be very useful already. That's my logic.

I can't say anything whether we should do this transfer (8m€ for half) or not becaue I simply haven't seen Kucka play (apart from World Cup and maybe Inter games but I didn't follow Kucka's game at all). I remain doubtful because the price is indeed very high.

He's seems to be a lot like Mariga; big, strong, hard working, strong tackler. He seems to be more likely to score or give some other attacking contribution, though. My evaluation is not based on much. Still I have to post... sigh.

How known he is aint an issue at all. In fact, teams are more likely to overpay on well known and hyped players. If we really are looking to pay this much, it's because we think he is very good, not because he is the flavour of the month.

I'd rather overpay for a known quantity than an unknown one.

But either way, there's no way this price is true. Some Slovak paper fucked up and now everyone is running with it. 8mil total valuation, with 4 being paid now for half his card makes much, much more sense.

For some reason I'd always related him a little bit to Kevin Prince Boateng in terms of being a midfielder who's more dynamic and physical than articulate.

I don't think he'd be a bad buy, but he's only played like 10 or so games for Genoa, and the amount reported (which may be false) is too high for someone so unproven.
