another game, another goal :star: I prefer him to Crespo now, his physique is on a whole other level and it really shows. The only thing we might lack when starting with two tall strikers is speed.

According to inter.it

Julio Cruz, whose winning goal at the Philips Stadium was his tenth of the season, is now Inter's third top scorer of all time in Europe's most important competition for clubs.

I'm loving Julio Cruz right now but I hate the fact that he's missing so many great opportunities. It always seems to take him 1-2 or great chances before he finally gets the goal. That's not a bad thing though.

Well, I guess we shouldn't be bemoaning the fact that Cruz actually scores when the goals are most needed.

12 Champions League goals from the man! Grazie Julio! :star:

Ciao,
Tim

Cruz has always been scoring important goals.. I mean, he may not play 10 matches, and when he goes in he scores when needed... That's nothing new.. :)

I/m very pleased with his form right now, I hope he can continue play like this.. He really shows Adri how to score.. :D

Yeah I feel the same he needs to start converting these chances that Ibra and Suazo are putting on a platter for him. Never the less he's done the hard yards not always being in favour here and now it's his time to shine he deserves all the success he gets.

Imagine how much he would shine if his conversion of plays was a bit more on target. He could have 2-3 goals a game, with a bit more precission, the 2 goal games and many more will come. Grande Cruz. Goal.com wants to know if he's the most underated player in serie a. Shit yea he is, he mite be the most underated player in the world at the moment, he's finally getting second looks and he deserves it.

Absolutely, and the comments on that goal.com article seem to be in his favour as well which is nice to see in this anti-Inter world.

The thing about Cruz I like the most is that he doesn't score a hattrick but he will score 3 in 3 games.

There are pros and cons on that, but I like it as well. I rather have a striker who scores regularly, even only one goal every match, than one who scores a hat-trick and then goes on a goalless streak of ten matches.

Cruz is reliable in the true sense of the word.

The pros far outweigh the cons, 3 goals in 3 games means much more points, than 1 game won due to a hat-trick! besides, we're inter, how many goals are we gonna concede anyways!

“It is my plan to continue playing for Inter for another year-and-a-half and then return to my home country,” he explained.

“It has been a long time that I have been away and the more that the years pass, it increases the nostalgia for your land.”

I guess he has made up his mind.

ps. So, I guess he did have chance of leaving us. I thought that was another media bullshit.

Cruz: Inter were denied success
Saturday 15 December, 2007

Julio Cruz claims Inter would have been all-conquering earlier had the Calciopoli situation not made it “impossible.”

The scandal in the summer of 2006 saw Juventus demoted with points penalties for Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and Reggina for allegedly attempting to influence referees.

“I have been at Inter for five years, but why have I only won something in the past couple of seasons? Everyone knows the reason now,” explained Il Jardinero.

“It was impossible to win before, but since there has been clarity in Italian football the hierarchy has been re-established. Do we feel more protected? I think the sport is more protected. We want to entertain the fans so they’ll come back to the stadiums.”

The season is not even at the halfway stage and already the Scudetto race seems to have been whittled down to just two clubs.

“I think Roma are our real rivals, you just need to look at their results over the last two years. They play good football and it is pleasing to see them win in Europe, as it gives more prestige to the League we’re playing in.”

Cruz had been linked with the Giallorossi and admits he gave it some serious thought.

“It’s true, in the past I had offers from Roma, but there were many obstacles. It doesn’t seem right to talk about it now, but playing alongside Francesco Totti would have been fantastic.”

That was when the former Bologna and Feyenoord star had slipped down the pecking order at San Siro, but with eight Serie A goals he seems to have finally shaken off that supersub tag.

“They used to say I was better if I came off the bench, but this season I am proving I can do pretty well from the start too. My objective is always to play for the team and score goals.”

However, this could represent one of his last campaigns at Inter and in Italy.

“I am thinking of playing another 18 months with Inter, then go back to Argentina. I have been away from my homeland for a long time and as the years stack up the nostalgia grows.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like we need a Cruz replacement after this and next season. Nonetheless, great words from Cruz.

Mario Balotelli has been called up against Cagliari, so we have a natural striker ready to step in. Its high time someone from our youth team stepped up.
