It bothers me deeply that we have topics for Pandev, Marino etc... but none for our lovable Juve Killer.

This guy is such a great player, he might not have the flashiness of Recoba but he surely puts in all the effort he has.

His settled down well here (well obviously, his from Argentina :D )

Now that Vieri is gone its pleasing he will get more games, i hope to see him more often now as he easily deserves a spot.

This is what his agent had to say yesterday.

Julio Cruz wanted by Espanyol, RiverPlate and Benfica? Julio is an Inter player, and all that is written about him is not true. His happy at Milan and is a important player for the squad. And even still we have an agreement with the leaders of Inter to renew his contract. We will look at that next week.

Julio Cruz is certainly the Benoit Cauet of the strikeforce. Written off as a backup all the time, he has not failed to impress everytime he is trusted to lead the attack. He has formed relatively good partnerships with everyone he plays with, and this is very much in part due to his unselfish nature coupled with some talent.

I like Cruz a lot and i was happy when he came to Inter. But i love him ever so much more now thanks to what he did against Juve. Those gols he scored will forever remain in my memory. :proud:

Ciao,
Tim

Damn! I absolutely had no idea he didn't have his own thread. And now Helal took the honour away.

I like him alot, and we are lucky to have a bencher like him. His possession skills are phenomenal for a big guy like him, and his heading ability is top-notch. I like the fact that he helps the team alot, learn El Chino learn!

Great personality. He doesn't complain, is a great football player, good professional, is liked by his team-mates... He doesn't get injured easily and he has potential to play against any team (unlike Chino). He can be influental against big teams.

He will give us great moments, believe me.

I think that his best quality is that he comes on no matter how many games he sat out and just plays as if he were playing yesterday, clicking immediately with the same quality...That cool assassin quality. He is calm under pressure which i like and think we need.

We should call him.. Zebra Butcher. In fact, we should start our own nicknames. A new idea, and a new thread? :D

Ciao,

Oh my god, I love you Tim! I'm getting a Cruz jersey this year, and I decided to get number 9 with "Gobbi Be Afraid" as name. But Zebras Butcher is absolutely fantastic!

I can't believe he didn't have his own thread, we should be ashamed of ourselves!

Helal, I'm sure you'd agree with me when I say El Jardinero is getting the same treatment CZ gets from most fans.

not exactly mate.

you probably know better than me cause you see what they say about him in England.

But if u look around the forum, alot of the guys like Cruz for the way he has been patient yet done his job so well when asked for.

As for C.zanetti its the oppisote. He puts in blinders game after game, was an instrumental part of our amazing defensive turn around and isntead of people asking to see more of him there was heaps of...
"oh god i hope CZanetti doesnt play"

Cruz is more respected then that, either way the only thing i can see similar is that most fans think that Recoba has performed better than Cruz in the past 2 years. Even if you add goals-assists, i dont know whos leading but Cruz is still above him. He is rarely injured, gives it his all, defends and most importantly is such a teamplayer in the way he performs.

So to awnser your question in short :p Cruz gets the plaudits he deserves from fans, much more then Zanetti but most FC Recoba fans will still think Cruz should play behind Recoba.

helal many people say that he's only a supersub, that we can't rely on him for anything else than that. As a matter of fact, many say the same about Oba :wallbang:

Cruz is another very loyal player. He could probably start on a mid-level team but he seems content with his role at Inter. Superb passer for such a big man too.

I dont really think Cruz can be said to be a super sub...

He is usually at his best as a starter because he can keep cool and do his job in containing the ball during the whole game but then HIT you out of the blue when you least expect it....

I can only think of him coming off and doing some damage inthe Valencia game where he almost scored a hatrick of chances in the last 15 minutes(ended up scoring one)

Oba and Recoba are more of super subs because of the quality they bring.Oba with his speed which will terrorize an already tired defence, and Recoba with his passing and suprise, far away shots which are usually needed when the defence is compact..

The only time i would think its good to bring Cruz is if we are ahead..He can keep the ball and control tempo too.

The fact that there was no thread dedicated to Cruz and there were threads for far lesser players speaks volumes.

In my opinion, Cruz is the ultimate footballing professional. There is only one other player in the Inter team that can be likened to Cruz and that is Karagounis. Both players had very little playing time last season and yet when called upon they both performed to the best of their abilities.

What really makes me respect them is the fact that I have never once heard them complain about not getting enough playing time or being substituted and I believe their actions say a great deal about the way they approach their football and the esteem they have for their club.

Cruz's biggest weakness is that it often takes him a little while to hit form. Of course, when you have been on the bench for long stretches, that is understandable but he tends to take a little longer than most players which makes playing time a very important factor for him to be successful.

Cruz as a substitue does not really work. He plays his best football when starting otherwise he tends to struggle in picking up the rhythm of a game and getting involved when a game is in the last half hour or fifthteen minutes.

In my opinion, Cruz is one of Inter's silent heroes. He is a talented player who quietly goes about his job with little fuss. If other footballers followed his example, player conduct and the game as a whole would be a great deal more respectful.

That was really well-written Puma, and I pretty much agreed with everything that you said.
