Whether or not this guy can stay fit and find form will be a big determining factor for whether we can get things back on track. Its not even so much that I view him as a savior, we just simply need to get a real rotation going and give Dzeko some fucking rest. Inzaghi has shown he is comfortable starting Correa with either Dzeko or Lautaro, however he has seemed hesitant to play Sanchez and Martinez together from the start. Correa also has a skillset no one else in the squad has. If you look at our best performances so far this season it’s probably been Roma away and Napoli at home, both featured Correa. Not to mention the Udinese and Verona performances where he directly won us points. I really don’t think Correa has been poor here he’s just gotten injured everytime he getting in form.
He is not a high frequency scorer but he does do something for our overall play. Only he and Sanchez really have any flair and Sanchez has been looking off the pace recently, which I think is because he’s playing more then he really should. I think we are underrating what having an actual athlete that’s 27 instead of always relying on at least one 33-36 can do for us if he’s able to take on significant minutes. He also has a fairly decent record against big teams. Let’s hope he stays fit this time.
