Is it official that Jorge Mendes is his new agent? If so, I wonder if this is some move by Mendes to try make another Wolverhampton of Lokomotiv. Otherwise, I'm genuinely surprised that Mario would agree to a move to the Russian League. Sure, he apologised and said he learned a lesson but it wasn't that long ago this fool was turning down moves to clubs because they were too small for him. Maybe he has matured or maybe there's some agent pressure behind him. Either way I hope he's gone for good, but I have that nasty feeling I'll be seeing him, Perisic and Nainggolan in 12 months time at Malpensa.

Never been this disinterested in an Inter player before. Boring in every way, I dont even care if he stays because he wont play anyway.

It's probably because of Marotta and how he's handled the Icardi situation. If Mauro's not playing with Inter again then no way in hell he'll be able to get back into the squad if the coach is not interested in him, which presumably he isn't.

OFFICIAL: Жоао Марио

orig.png

The footballer will play for our team at number 23. Lokomotiv took the player on loan until the end of the season with the right to buy out.

“I'm very glad to go to Lokomotiv,” said Joao Mario. “I know that this is a big club. The team gathered a lot of star and experienced football players. I asked Fernandes and Eder about Lokomotiv when we played for the Portuguese national team. I consulted with Eder before the transition. He said that Lokomotiv is a good team with a wonderful atmosphere. Participation in the Champions League is also an important factor.”

He managed to get acquainted with Moscow and Russia when he played against Lokomotiv for Sporting, as well as during the World Cup. “Moscow is a wonderful city, I am delighted that I will live and play here. I am sure that we will achieve the result. I look forward with enthusiasm and am ready to enter the field already on Saturday”.

I'd say living in Moscow is better than living in Milano, though the city is so damn expensive.

Come on, you cannot honestly believe that. It probably is true for Russian speakers alone, but for everyone else, Milano is the more attractive city.

Maybe Joao Mario will think that people are speaking Portuguese around him if he's drunk enough :)

Lokomotiv Moscow  Good riddance and plz never come back again. I'd rather play for some english bum club tbh. I even find it astonishing that none of the top portuguese clubs wanted him.

Actually European Portuguese is similarly sounding as Russian. :D

He's a good player, but he doesn't exactly scream "personality" and the 2016/2017 disaster of a season hit him hard, crushing his confidence.

His attitude didn't help either, to say the least: soft on the pitch (“molle” or “mollo”, as coach Malesani would say) and whiny while on loan to West Ham (that interview he gave in London was a cheap shot, but at least he apologized for it).

We wish we could forget many of his performances and that goal he missed against Milan in Coppa Italia.
But I like to remember his San Siro debut in the Derby d'Italia against Juventus: he wasn't asked to play the mediano or trequartista/AM role, not yet, and he looked smart and sharp while exchanging the mezzala position with Banega, quietly bossing the midfield.
It was a flash in the pan for De Boer and not only De Boer.

Goodbye to Joarence Seedormario (another wishful farewell is in the book - see him next season).

I just realised that “Ciao” is an omnidirectional greeting. That’s so very fitting. Hopefully this is the last time we say Ciao.

In an exclusive interview with O Jogo, Joao Mario explains the choice of saying yes to Lokomotiv Moscow and the Russian League, instead of moving back home after many years spent at Sporting Lisbon.

“I didn’t want to return to Portugal: going home, to the club where I grew up in, where I know everything, in my comfort zone… for me, that was not exciting.”

The midfielder also talks about how things did not go as planned at Inter.

“It’s hard to talk about it now. Every time I said it, I was misunderstood, I try not to think about it too much: there are simply things that are not meant to be together. I am happy to see a strong Inter, I will miss my teammates and I wish them the best of luck this season. The coach there is very good, very competent, Inter will be great again.”
