There aren't many like Capitano Javier Zanetti. Such a shame that he ended his career way too early as he could have been useful for couple of more years at least. He has always had a great physical condition and a character which lets him compete with much younger players. I blame our management and coach Mazzarri at that time for JZ's retirement.

Despite that several years have passed, he still has a great physique and looks like a player of early 20's. But either way, Interisti are always proud of his history with Inter and to what he has achieved with the club. Ronaldo was the reason that I love football, but whenever Inter is mentioned or its emblem, there are two persons who cross my mind, and that is Javier Zanetti and Massimo Moratti. I really miss the good old days of football and passion of that time.

Bro....don't even remind me :palm:

Shit still hurts man. We're a disgrace.

Sad....

JZ didn't deserve this as a final season. Definitely deserved a much better send off. Sitting on the bench all season long, not being able to contribute, and not being able to lead HIS team all because a dumb fucking coach wants to play 3-x-x.

Seriously Walter? A symbol of our club, a player who's averaged over 4k minutes every season for so long all of a sudden only gets 400 minutes? And it's not because we're Real Madrid now....we're still shit and his replacements are still shit.

On a really serious note; FUCK MAZZARRI. Inter management should be ashamed that they allowed an outsider to come in an disrespect the legacy of Zanetti. Not even a fucking MILANISTA (leo) came in and disrespected Zanetti like this.

Inter deserves everything that's happening to us right now. We've treated a lot of players badly, but to do it to JZ is simply unreal.

I still stand by my original opinion that he wouldn't have retired if Mazzarri wasn't our coach. He did have a bad knee injury that kept him out of most of that season iirc, but I think he knew the coaching situation wasn't for him at the time. I don't think anyone would want to retire at their 19th season rather than their 20th or more.

Apparently as a VP he has no voice or choice but to approve all this.

There’s always a choice, if he was so opposed to it/ couldn’t live with it he could have resigned.

Zanetti: 'Serious Inter financial problems'

Javier Zanetti confessed Inter have ‘serious financial problems’ and owners Suning could’ve sold the club ‘mid-season’ while the Super League was ‘a mistake.’

While the Nerazzurri are currently celebrating their first Serie A title in 11 years, the issues remain and director of sport Zanetti explained them to Argentine newspaper La Nacion.

“Conte has brought a work ethic and mentality first and foremost. He convinced even the youngest players that his project could really work. Since the day he arrived, not a day has gone by without him thinking how to improve this team. He convinced the club to follow him.

“There was some initial scepticism about his past at Juventus, but they learned to love him. He has been focused since the first day and accepted this challenge like a real Interista.”

Zanetti admits the degree to which Inter were struggling and could have seen Suning bail out.

“It’s true that the club could’ve been sold mid-season. We were going through serious financial problems, even if we weren’t the only ones in such a difficult moment.

“I saw that as a club we can still improve. The coach has done something extraordinary over two years, now it’s up to us to improve the internal mechanism and aspire to something more.

“The financial problems remain and it could take a couple of years to rediscover that balance. We need people back in the stadium to make the sponsors happy. Basically, a return to normality.

“We mustn’t hide, it is a delicate moment, but we want this so we can take a bigger step forward. What we need is an over-reaching strategy that guarantees sustainability in the long-term.”

It was also because of these financial issues that Inter were one of three Italian clubs – along with Juventus and Milan – to sign up for the European Super League.

“The idea didn’t last long and the fans gave their response,” added Zanetti. “I don’t even mean just the 12 founding clubs, but the fans of all football.

“It was a mistake and we have to learn from mistakes. It was an error, without doubt, but will certainly help FIFA, UEFA and the main football bodies to come together with clubs and find alternative ways of improving the football world.”

Zanetti issued a statement claiming his words were misreported but personally i believe he's doing damage limitation after being too honest in that interview.

Nobody in the club should be mouthing that shit out! It just adds fuel to the fire for journalists when it’s not a secret that all clubs are so it’s best just to sit down and shut the fuck up.

I love JZ but damn it’s a silly mistake.

What's a mistake exactly? There's nothing wrong with what Zanetti said here.

Everyone knows the club is having some money problems, the mistake is just building on that public knowledge and giving room for more bs reports or headlines to say were broke etc (like were the only club that are even though that’s not the case) which might lead to low ball offers from clubs who also have financial issues but who’s management isn’t coming out and saying ‘we’ve got real money problems over here too boys’.

I may disappoint you with this piece of information, but the transfer market doesn't care what's out in the media. Not unless it's the player/agent saying he wants out or something.

From the guy that argued that water isn’t always wet you might need to concede that there might just be some psychological advantage given to other clubs when they try to negotiate with us for one of our players and vice versa if the VP of our club comes out and says we are in a tough financial situation. Of course I’m going to use that to my advantage if I’m the other club...

Come on man...

Water is not wet, it just makes everything else wet :trollol:

Saying whatever won't change the fact that no club is in a position to offer a good enough transfer bid. Who are we talking about even? Club officials talk with each other a lot, they know the situation. They don't need Zanetti or anyone to talk to the media to learn about things. They know of this weeks before it even becomes public knowledge.

Brozovic for example is on an expiring contract. You don't need Inter to be in a bad position financially to lowball them for this one. What happens if they lowball us for Skriniar or Lukaku? We tell them to gtfo. If they're interested, they come up with a proper offer. Talking to the media doesn't do squat in these instances, it's mostly for fan consumption.

Agree to disagree it is then. I’d go into more reasoning behind my first comment but you need to be the polar opposite on most debates even if there’s logic and rationale to the other side of the convo.

I’m over it.

I understand perfectly what you're saying, but it is invalid in this case.

It would only matter if we were out looking for funds (ie selling bonds or seeking other financing methods) with Zanetti as a key CFO like person rather than a token board member [which still wouldn't be a nice thing to see, but not very institutional either to have much impact apart from cooling interest from a few parties].

But you're talking about the transfer market. It is completely irrelevant here. And if even you have a point, it should work in our favor as well when we want to sign someone, no? But it won't...
