Moving on...

Was great to see JZ in his 09/10 shirt again though. He’s got ballz though, I’d never leave the house with mine on now given how precious it is!!!

It's more impressive (though not surprising) that he's maintained fitness for so long after retirement to fit into his 09/10 shirt, especially after Covid.

I'm 'only' 30 and already no longer fit into the shirt I bought last year. :yao:

Watching a clip from Messi's press conference made me realize how grateful i am we didn't experience something similar with Zanetti.

Grazie mille Capitano!

Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti admitted 2021-22 will be ‘difficult and complicated’ for the Nerazzurri and said Antonio Conte ‘was decisive’ to win the Scudetto last term.

Conte left the club after picking up Inter’s first Serie A title in 11 years, but Zanetti believes the team will still be competitive under new coach Simone Inzaghi.
The former Lazio coach prepares for a new chapter at Inter, who have replaced Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi with Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries this summer.
The club have been in financial trouble of late and are currently working to renew with Lautaro Martinez and hope to compete at the top of the table also in 2021-22, but Zanetti warned it will be a ‘complicated’ campaign.

“I cannot lie to the Inter fans, maybe others do, but I can’t,” Zanetti said during Champions under the Stars event in Biella, according to Sky Sport Italia. “It will be a difficult and complicated season. This must be said to be fair to everyone, but it must also be said that we will be competitive. Inzaghi is working well.”

Romelu Lukaku moved back to Chelsea for €115m this summer and has been replaced by former Roma captain Edin Dzeko.
“I was very sorry for Lukaku’s farewell, he gave us so much,” Zanetti added. “Dzeko is a different player, but he’s certainly an important signing.

Former Juventus hero Conte helped the Nerazzurri to the title in Serie A and Zanetti admitted he didn’t ‘have any prejudices’ when the former rival arrived at San Siro.
“When Juventus went to Serie B, I didn’t rejoice. I’m used to thinking about Inter and not what happens to the others,” he continued.
“And when Conte became our coach, I didn’t have any prejudices, I saw him work and I immediately understood that his only goal is for the good of the team he trains. He has a lot of merit in winning the Scudetto, he was decisive.”

Another former Inter coach became a rival this summer, as Jose Mourinho returned to Serie A to take over at Roma.
Mourinho and Zanetti helped Inter pick up the famous Treble from 2009-10 and the Argentine revealed he is still chatting with the Portuguese tactician and told an anecdote about the coach from the dressing room in 2009.
“We are still in the same chat as the team of that season,” Zanetti said. “He is one of the most active, he writes practically every day.
“He always has very clear ideas, that’s his quality. In 2009, we lost against Manchester United and went out of the Champions League. In the dressing room we were all sad and angry.
“Jose wanted to speak immediately with [Massimo] Moratti, right there, in front of everyone. He told him that signing some players would have won the cup, we looked at each other a little embarrassed at that moment, but in the end, obviously, he was right.”

“A few hours before the first game against of the championship against Genoa, I tell the fans one thing: we, once again, will give our all for the Nerazzurri shirt.

ZANETTI: ‘INTER HAVE NO FEAR OF BAYERN AND BARCELONA’

They have been drawn in the Champions League Group of Death with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Viktoria Plzen, but Javier Zanetti assures Inter ‘have no fear, only respect.’

The Nerazzurri could not have asked for a worse draw in this competition, as they are up against the Champions of Germany, the revitalised Blaugrana and Czech Republic side Viktoria Plzen. Only the top two reach the Round of 16, with third going into the Europa League play-offs.

“It’s a very difficult, complicated group with two teams who tend to do very well in this competition,” vice-president Zanetti told Sky Sport Italia.
“But we are Inter. We were up to the task against Liverpool last season too, we must be at the top of our form. The Champions League is a competition all about details, against the best in the world. We are there and we will have our say.”

Facing Barcelona and Bayern Munich does inevitably bring the thoughts of Inter fans back to their Treble-winning campaign under Jose Mourinho in 2010, when surprising everyone to lift the Champions League trophy.
“It is a fond memory that came back to me too,” smiled former right-back Zanetti.
“Football has changed, that was a different time. I say there are teams we need to face at the top of our form, because they can cause us problems at any moment. We are improving and proved that last season. We will try again this term.”

Inter did reach the Round of 16 last year, eliminated by Liverpool after losing 2-0 at home and winning 1-0 at Anfield.
“It is motivating to face teams like this so early in the competition. Bayern Munich are a consolidated side, Barcelona have found their balance under Xavi and we want to continue the growth process from last year,” added Zanetti.
We have no fear, only respect. I think Inter will be ready and prepared.”

ZANETTI REACTS TO INTER-PORTO DRAW: ‘MUCH DEPENDS ON FORM IN FEBRUARY’
Speaking to Sport Mediaset at UEFA’s headquarters, Zanetti first reacted to Inter’s draw against Porto in the Champions League Round of 16.
“They will be difficult matches, I know Porto well and my former team-mate Conceiçao is doing a great job.
“It will depend a lot on the state of form in February, it’s always a Champions League match and we must have the utmost respect for our opponents.”

The Nerazzurri vice president commented on the difference in performances between the Champions League and Serie A.
“We have to work and improve. The group has given important answers and now we have to do well until the break in the league. Then, when we resume after the World Cup, it will be a different matter.
“We have to find balance and consistency. We are sorry for the defeat yesterday, in the first half we could have gone ahead but this is football and at the first opportunity they scored.
“We look forward to this match with confidence. We must work in the best possible way to arrive well in February.”

Finally, Zanetti made a brief comment regarding the status of Milan Skriniar’s contract renewal.
“We’re talking and there’re all the conditions to move forward together.”
Capitano has spoken.
