Also we already had this shirt for a second time in 2006 or 2007 i think as a third jersey. Also i think in the last couple of years a couple of european teams did the same thing.

I'm happy we didn't treat him like Milan did with Maldini.

Zanetti: ‘Icardi, respect Inter’
By Football Italia staff

Javier Zanetti wants Mauro Icardi to stay but “he has to understand he’s at Inter”.

The striker is the Nerazzurri captain, but his agent has been very public about his desire for an improved contract, and talks have taken place with Arsenal and Napoli.

“He’s very young, he has a lot of potential and he can still grow a lot,” Inter legend Zanetti explained to La Nacion.

“He has to devote himself to playing, nothing else. The intention is for him to stay with us, beyond all the gossip in recent days.

“Last year his contract was adjusted and he’s our captain, we want to continue with him but he has to understand that he’s at Inter.”

There are also growing rumours that Coach Roberto Mancini could leave, could Zanetti’s compatriot, Diego Simeone come in?

“El Cholo has said that he’d love to Coach Inter in the future. At the moment Mancini is our Coach, and out of respect for him and his work we can’t talk about another Coach.

“If you want to talk about the future, then I imagine that Simeone and Inter will meet again.”

The Beneamata vice-President also had words of praise for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

“He’s a star, there’s no doubt about it, he’s a star,” Zanetti admitted.

“While he was still very young he showed it at Palermo. Then he went to Juventus and immediately took to his role and delivered what was expected of him.

“Many wondered if he was ready and he showed that he was. He has no ceiling.”

He could put on a jersey and boots, play the first match of the season with 5 minutes notice and still be forty times better than any of our fucking fullbacks.

My view regarding Inter's captaincy issue:

Inter have been facing a rather turbulent captaincy issue following Javier Zanetti's retirement.

After the legend's retirement, Inter assigned the arm band to Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia who due to his poor performances was dropped from the starting eleven. Then the arm band moved to various players during the 2014/15 season - Juan Jesus who now joined AS Roma, Yuto Nagatomo and others - before being assigned to Argentinian forward Mauro Icardi at the end of the season.

Zanetti was the longest-serving captain in Inter's history with over 15 years of captaincy to his name. It's a shame that the team captaincy has been moving from one arm to the other after such a legendary milestone by the phenomenal Javier Zanetti.

A captain should show loyalty, love, respect and eagerness towards the blue and black colours of our team. It shouldn't be worn by a normal (or of a lesser level) footballer or by a player who gives the go-ahead to one's agent in his name to acquire more and more money from the club.

When did we ever hear such stories during Javier Zanetti's captaincy tenure?

Inter should be respected. Prove yourselves, then maybe you'll be given our beloved Inter captaincy!

- LS.

If anything Zanetti said on numerous occasions that he'll sign a contract by Inter without looking at it at all, the wage for him was sincerely irrelevant. IIRC he even said that he'd play for free, or was that Cambiasso? Man, I'm glad we had those players in my time, not only in a technical aspect, but as human beings to look up to. Now we have Wanda and her bitch.

It was Cambiasso who said he would sign the renewal without looking at it.

However Zanetti certainly never complained himself.

Then you have Toldo who didn't complain about being a sub goalkeeper for long years despite being one of the best goalkeepers ever. Of course you also still see him in the management after his retirement (Inter Forever program).

Such a loyal and solid core team we've had.

Inter's vice president, Javier Zanetti told the United Nations:
"We have strong values as a club, one of which is social responsibility. We operate in 29 countries and establish strong ties with the UN. Sport is a crucial tool with which to convey positive messages. We hope to enjoy a long partnership together."

ManpowerGroup teams up with Inter

The group becomes the Nerazzurri's premium partner and official supplier for the next three seasons. Zanetti chosen as Manpower's talent ambassador

APPIANO GENTILE – The partnership between the leader in innovative workforce solutions, ManpowerGroup, and F.C. Internazionale was announced today in a press conference at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti.

ManpowerGroup's president of Mediterranean and Eastern Europe Stefano Scabbio and chief financial officer in Italy Giovanna Fontana both spoke at the press conference, alongside Nerazzurri vice president Javier Zanetti and chief revenue officer Michael Gandler.

"ManpowerGroup believes in talent and has invested in sport for many years," said Scabbio. "It's a sector that is continually evolving and increasingly looking for specialised and highly qualified professionals.

"Today we're marking the beginning of this new partnership with Inter, a club that has internationally recognised talent and embodies values such as loyalty, determination and hard work. ManpowerGroup completely shares these important values."

"Manpower has always been dedicated to bringing the best out of professionals, just as our club has always done with footballers," declared Nerazzurri CEO Michael Bolingbroke. "This is the key to the success of both organisations, who have today announced an important partnership together. We share many values and particularly in the sporting field, where Manpower has been extremely active for some time. We are pleased to step out in this new direction, which will help both of our organisations achieve their objectives."

Scabbio welcomed Javier Zanetti into his new role as talent ambassador for ManpowerGroup. For three years he will accompany the organisation as brand partner and spokesperson for multiple projects aimed at enhancing talent, such as the Human Age Institute.

ManpowerGroup's regional president also highlighted last May's Bocelli and Zanetti Night organised by the PUPI Foundation and the Andrea Bocelli Foundation to help the 'Educate for a better world' project. In his words, it was an example of ManpowerGroup's support for the kind of initiative that Zanetti will be involved in over the next few years.

"I have known Stefano Scabbio and his group for a long time," Zanetti said. "We've collaborated before on various occasions, so I've been able to appreciate their professionalism and our shared values, which I strongly believe in.

"I was proud to accept the offer to become the group's talent ambassador. The chance to be taught how to make the most of one's own talent is something I believe to be fundamental in human and professional development. I have personally worked in this area for many years, on behalf of Inter, with the club's many projects involving young people, and my own foundation."

Finally, ManpowerGroup has been named as the official supplier for services involving hospitality, care and safety of supporters. They will also support the club's HR department in innovative workforce solutions.
