I think it’s clear by now that Milan have problems scoring. Giroud is their leading scorer and he has more goals from penalties than open play. Sure when Leao is in form they can beat any midtable and bottom half side, but when the wide forwards aren’t penetrating they have no where else to go. And it’s not exactly like their defense is impenetrable… obviously it’s too early to count them out, but I see Juve as the main title challenger with Milan fighting for 3rd as things stand.

Meelan has been actually shit in most games after the derby loss and its a while ( I can think of only Dortmund H and Lazio H where they were in complete control). And in almost every match there has been opposition injuries ( only vs us they faced our best XI) . 1 or 2key players always missing. Vs Lazio Immobile, vs Genoa Retegui, vs Rube brazilians , Chiesa-Vlaho on the bench, vs Napoli Osimhen.

Obv they have their own injuries , Pioli, mind the results, should be sacked today with all their technical and fitness staff solely because of their injury records.

They also lost a lot of grinta by losing tonali. I know in hindsight they v made a good decision given what happened to him, but you just can't replace a good italian player who knows what it means to wear a shirt with people like reijnders and loftus. Brahim was also a loss despite his faults. Other signings look like npc characters compared to him.

They really had a disastrous mercato and that will become more evident as time passes by. The only player that was a good buy imo was pulisic.

For me, the hype around their signings was understandable, although I personally didn't buy the hype. On paper those were good young players, but reality doesn't work like football manager and that's why a lot of people were pushed into hype.

In terms of prematurity, I don't think it's premature, they v made it clear their goal is scuddetto, and I don't see them winning it this year bar some miraculous turn of events. I was referring to disastrous in that context.
