Suazo was one of my favorite transfers ever. I think Milan even announced him on their official website
Yeah it was one of those last transfer battles against Milan and one of the first that we actually won in the 2000s
Kaka was also one, but we didn't really pursue him because Cuper didn't want him.
But we had lost Jankulovski, Stam, indirectly Nesta ("not for sale", then handed to Milan for less after Galliani threatened Cragnotti), Bonera... Maybe a few others like Gourcuff and Gilardino were also transfer battles between us but I don't recall if it were at the same time.
And of course we got the short end of the stick with the deals around Pirlo, Seedorf, Davala, Simic, Helveg etc.
So that Suazo transfer was viewed as a clear signal of who's boss in the city and that the tide has changed. Too bad he wasn't that much of a use here, he wasn't a bad player at all.
