I think front line should be Insigne - Immobile - Cerci

Insigne - Immobile duo (backed by Verrati) from Zeman days, and Cerci-Immobile from Torino. There is plenty of chemistry there.

Italy need to experiment with new forwards, there is nothing to lose, while keeping same midfield and defence.

That's far too attacking oriented of a formation when you consider that Pirlo and Marchisio aren't exactly defensive stars, and both are expected to start. That might be the formation you try to use to break down Costa Rica with, but against England's speedy wingers it's a death trap.

I very much doubt Marchisio will be a starter.

It'll probably be Pirlo, Motta, and De Rossi, and to be honest, that trio can probably handle 3 up front.

Not that I think it'll happen.

I wonder if he regrets picking Italy over the US now

Are you serious? :palm:

Prandelli is a big fan of his and the only reason he's not going to Brazil is because he got injured last game and with his record with injuries it's just too risky to bring him. I'm sure if this guy wasn't injured every 2 months he would be a sure starter for the NT.

Mistake imo to not bring rossi. Parolo will literally have ZERO impact in WC. Should've added Rossi and dropped Parolo. 8 midfielders? I wonder if that means 3-5-2.

Also, if 4-3-3 it is, then is it just me or is de sciglio being a sure starter a crazy mistake. Dude makes mistakes every game. Too young for this stage and Chiellini @ LB isn't smart. Won't be surprised if he ends up being the weakest link on the field.

He'll go back 4 in the tournament, but back 3 against Spain, since they are a very "vertical" team, and their flankers (iniesta, silva) cut inside, rather than stretch the play.

Criscito omission puzzled me as well. Chiellini as LB will be raped for pace, even though he is great as CB. I think De sciglio will do ok, if Italy can avoid Brazil/Germany. Darmian has been playing well, so who knows.

England has fast wingers too, but last time Italy dominated the midfield so much, they became very narrow, and could barely counter.

Well...

Didnt they lose to a Serie D team before 1994 World Cup?

I think the worse Italy performs before a major tournament the better their chances in the tournament are.

Or it could be that they're just completely out of form...

That's exactly what I thought, hence why I was wondering why they were included in your caption

I guess that makes sense. Cerci's hair during games is normally tied up somewhat, but I'm still not sure if I agree that it is him

Quite a hilarious contrast, a bunch of school boys vs the bosses and the mafias.
