Narrative is Cristiano was bought to win the CL for Juve. But the issue was then they didn't have funds to reinforce the midfield for real. And they went for these free agents like Rabiot and Ramsey (and spent money on their huge salaries).

I don't think anyone has claimed Juve had a functional midfield before Cristiano (and they didn't have Rabiot, Ramsey, McKennie, Locatelli back then).

Or did I misunderstand your point?
They had one of the best midfields, that's what I said. And completely destroyed it to accommodate the prancing ballarina.

Was it to accommodate him, or was it just poor squad construction?

Did you ever watch a Juve game this season without Cristiano? :) At least there's some real struggle to score goals.
So you're telling me that Cristiano had an overall effect on Juventus that was positive?

EDIT: I see brehme put my opinion nice into his own post. No need to take this discussion. People who think paying 50-60m per year for Cristiano and buying him for 110m+ was a positive effect on Juventus, is it even worth having a discussion with them?

its a joke that Darmian is not called up... I mean I dont really care, as its even better for him to stay fresh, but he does deserve to be there.

Balotelli's Turkish league adventure started well and hasn't said or done anything stupid yet. He works with Vincenzo Montella in Adana Demir SK. Moreover, there are other players in the team who have played in Serie A before (Birkir Bjarnason ,Gökhan İnler ,Lucas Castro)

All these factors enabled him to adapt to the Turkish league easily. Normally, the Turkish league is a place where it's very difficult for foreign players to adapt. Tactical football is not important here, instead there is football based on physical strength. The defenders are tough and ruthless. Unlike many world famous football players who have been disgraced before in this league, Balotelli has managed to survive until now.

Mancini previously worked in the Turkish league. He knows our league and probably still follows it. He is aware that Balotelli is in good shape and that is why he called him.

It has already been talked about for more than a month in the Turkish media that Mario will be called to the Italian national team. So ,the result didn't come as a surprise to us ( I mean Turkish fans )

But there is a problem !

Montella uses the 4-2-3-1 system and Balotelli plays very well in this system because Galatasaray's loanee Yunus Akgün on the right and Matias Vargas on the left wing, who was nobody in La Liga , are great this season and they both feed very well Balotelli in every game.

Mancini, on the other hand, uses a different system than the one Balotelli plays for his own team.

Anyway, I hope Mario fails. Italy is a possible rival on the way to Qatar. Of course I don't want them to be a good team. :devilish:

He should've been called up in the summer for sure. No one can tell me that Emerson deserved it over him. Mancini probably doesn't trust Darmian as a fullback, whatever.

But yeah I agree I think he should've been called up, RB and LB are weak positions at the moment.

Just noticed Bremer has never been called up for Brazil. I'd like to see him called up for Italy if eligible. Definitely better than a bunch of other names.

At this rate Italy will become Brazil B in a time where Brazil sucks the most in their history
