For me, he has some qualities but had a huge problem with the mentality, maybe because the lack of goals.

The same can be said about a lot of our players, that they are big fish in smaller ponds, but when they come to a big pond, they're as small as everyone else
Maybe, but you can't compare the players we have now with some of the players we had in the recent past, ala Belfodil.

For example, we bought both Belfodil and Icardi in 2013. In the following years, Belfodil was playing football in Abu Dhabi, while Icardi was becoming the league's top-scorer in an underperforming Inter side. Both are the same age.

All I'm saying is we made no mistake in letting him go, as ScottishInterista wondered what would've happened if we kept him for a while longer.

In any case, Islam and football don't mix well - fasting for Ramadan (a whole month in the summer), which includes not drinking water the whole day is just insane for a professional athlete. I think that was also a factor for his downfall at the time.

Lacked the mentality to succeed at a big club. Something which is difficult to determine prior to his signing. Therefore I'm not too pissed off about this one. It's not like he was a useless hack or something. I do wonder how much Mazzarri talking smack about him hurt his confidence. I'm guessing probably a lot.

I thought he had more natural talent than Icardi. Just goes to show natural talent isn't what makes someone top level player.

I do think though Mazzarri hurt his confidence a lot. After that dumb red card he basically never looked at him again and he was sold off for peanuts.

I do think he has grown up though. Now he's more experienced and his mentality is great. Although he's a bit egocentric sometimes, his determination to win every game is amazing. Probably just not good enough for Inter, but I think he has a chance to succeed in the EPL.

Yeah I was more excited about Belfodil than Icardi because of his physical qualities and technique.

Honestly, if he works hard and is professional I can't see why he can't be a good player for a mid table EPL side.

When Arnautovic able to display some decent performance at epl, I bet Belfodil can do that too.

I second that, his fighting spirit will help him. I think he will be able to deliver good results for a mid table team and I wish him good luck.

Do you guys remember that we had that talented romanian striker Denis Alibec signed in 2009 for our Primavera [500.000 € transfer fee]? Well, he wasn't the brightest one and I could tell he was going to fail on the big stage given his atrocious musical preferences and statements [for instance: "I would rather play in Romania's 1st division than Italian Serie B"] and we eventually sold him in loss back to Romania in 2014 for only 200.000 € transfer fee. Now Steaua signed him for €2m and he seems mature enough to perform on that level. Some players develop slower and need time to mature. Given the average quality of the Romanian championship [I never follow it, not even highlights], I think he will deliver there, but won`t cut it in Serie A.

Some people are just sour and jealous of Mazzarri's illustrious footballing career.

Belfodil scored two goals today for Werder Bremen, they played and won away from home against Augsburg.

Very happy for him though. Haven't been updated about his career since he left Parma, but seems like he is back on track and hopefully he will keep scoring and improve his game as he is a pretty skilled striker.

Ha! I saw his name on a scoresheet and had to come here to check if this was the same guy, because I couldn't believe it!

Belfodil is alive?

Yes he sure is. Scored twice for Hoffenheim away to leader Dortmund this afternoon. Dortmund was leading 3-0 until the 75th minute. The final result was 3-3.

Goals out of nowhere. He's still shit, but the second goal (header) was well taken. Still has a nice touch / technique, just doesn't have the IQ to go along with it.

He sounds like a player trained at Inter :work:
