then when we was limpin around why the fk didnt he get off. Would of been nice to see Pizarro for the last 10.

By then we had made the three subs: Martins, Materazzi and Kily came on.

So Inter strikers aren't the only ones missing chances, now the fans are. But I understand how can CafeCordoba and JLo miss each other.

CafeCordoba, telling JLo that you are tall, with blond hair and that you will be drinking isn't enough to be recognized in a Finnish bar!

Sometimes this board makes me sick

This is actually laughable guys. inter plays possibly one of their best games all season and we have posters on here complaining about everything under the sun. Inter looked like phucking monsters after Villa scored their goal, they went straight for the jugular and never looked back for the entire half.

-their goal pissed me off so much because it showed the team was not fired up right from the get go and Wome's mistake of the game which is becoming a match by match occurance is starting to become a lame joke, stick our boy Nico in there to show us what defending is all about, its not like Villa were pressing down that side anyway.

-I only have 2 concerns i want to point out in this game. Our left flank is horrendous and it is pure chance that Villa did not exploit that channel otherwise we would have been ruined. The second is why after getting the second goal inter went off the gas pedal and allowed Villa to come at them? Inter should have kept pressing a little harder for a little longer in search of that golden third goal.

- The things i was proud to see in this game. Stankovic proved he is a solid player when he can perform and if Figo had been out there no doubt in my mind we would have gotten a third with this class. JZ was unstoppable. Toldo was great made a couple of clutch saves but Villa never pressed him that hard. i am also glad both our strikers put goals in as this will get their confidence up. Recoba was awesome in the short time he was on and it poained me to see that he had to leave, if he can make it back for the retrun leg it would be clutch.

-The most important thing i want to point out that many of you seem to be hinting at but not stating outright. From what i have read it seems like the general consensus is that Riquelme had a poor game by his general standards. Ask yourself why this was and go back and watch the game again if you have to. I was really interested in how Mancini would employ the tactics and credit to him he got it spot on. I will give you guys a hint at what the answer is it starts with a C ends in an O and on alternating periods it started with a V and ends in an N. Everytime our boy Ramon touched the ball one of those two was all over him while the other contributed to the attack. His only opening in the second half came when Seba got injured and could not huslte back in time.

- For all of you who want to bash Mancini go right ahead but I want to stand up and applaud the way he ran the team through their tactics systematically taking away Villa's only weapon, and exploiting all their weaknesses save for the one i mentioned before the game started (stand in RB). He may have been wrong in the way he fielded the team but he got everything else right. He wasnt on the field when the defence decided they need to take a 45 second nap while Villa exploited them. however he made sure our centeral duo took care of Ramon, Made sure that Stankovic would use his pace to get past Sorin, and made sure JZ had enough freedom to take the entire Villa team to school with several of this darts up the wing then swing into the middle on a diagonal run (where he knew there would be space for him in front of the D). The strikers were patrolling the right areas and if Martins followed Mancio's advise that he gave in the post match comments we would have scored even more. The defence was also pretty sound, they had help from the midfield who shut down Villa's only outlet and as such the D had an easy time of it after the goal they conceded as Samuel and Cordoba had Forlan and Josi Mari in their back pocket, ask yourselves if either of those two had any quality touches after the first minute of the game.

I appreciate good tactics and Roberto Mancini made sure his Inter team knew what they were doing in this game even after going behind when it would have been so easily to take the pessimistic route that many of you on here have taken. With a fresh Figo in the return leg i am confident we can get at least one goal and put this tie to bed..........as long as Mancini fields the team right (not like today) and gets the tactics correct again.

BTW did anyone know what happened to Sennas? Did one of our players get him in the bum/thigh with their cleats, was he having his period, or did he have a really bad case of hemmoroids? :undecide:

Talk about embarrassing.

You could just tell that Inter would do something stupid, and only a Mancini lead Inter team would let Villareal do what they're best at ffs, within seconds, Riquelme isn't pressured and he puts in a average Roman pass and Wome farks up.
Would've loved to see Neon's face after Forlan scored, typical Inter, digging holes for themselves, disgraceful.

Zanetti: If this guy isn't playing for Inter until he is 50, then we are a disgrace. He should be given a life contract, and he should decide when he leaves the club, even when he leaves, we should continually pay him money. Ran circles around Sorin, proving who is the true captain of Argentina.

Cesar:  I never thought I would see the day, where I honestly see the worst footballer on the planet, Cesar is that guy. A left midfielder in the San Marino 4th division is truly better than this guy, he has absolutely no ABILITY. Only clueless gimps would ever want this guy to play

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL! Excellent!!!

Btw. the true captain of Argentina is Ayala, but Sorin ahead of JZ is one of the biggest jokes Pekerman ever came with, right after Coloccini as rightback.

helal...the point is not whether Stan is in good form or not, or whatever, the point is where he might be best.
Yesterday as a rightwing he had a very good game, better than anything I saw from him on the left.

but anyway..

bro, i can name many.

Yesterday Stan had some very bad crosses into the box, heck the first one was lucky and he had a few that just went skyhigh into the box.

Anyway maybe im harsh on him a little cause i think his a great and the most versatile player on the team.

For your information, if you don't know, the final result was 2-1!

DEJAN DEKI STAN
this is probably the best game inter have played in the CL this year,

after what can be only described as a fkn disasterous opening 45 seconds Inter showed the world what we are capable of

had adris meek finish found the net in the 4th minute i think we would of had an ever better and more unpredictable game,

First some "respect to villareal"as they stung us early and due to that stat IMO our tactics changed considerably,

Inter was thrown into the fire,we had 2 chase them from then on and opened up our defence due to the goals we needed,

and the first 20minutes of the game had we had more patience and "luck" we could have been up by 2,

i think all our players played fantastic bar Cesar,

JZ 9,no doubts JZ was awesome, such ball control and running with the ball from end to end can be done only by the best(franco baresi comes to mind)

i pose the question can JZ be our "libero"next season?,we would have to change our formation to a 3-5-2 ?he still has speed to burn and could intervene ala libero if danger looms.put two pittbulls infront of him and let him dictate everything for us,THIS MAN IS A LEGEND

as that was the "best"ball carrying any inter player has provided from our defence through the middle since ive been following Inter,

STAN 8,Stan the man was great in some aspects, cool on the ball in the first half,

his back up play was always there, always positioned himself for a pass or a run, made 2 assists which were very unorthodox crosses but found the mark

had adri latched on properly to that stupendous and assertive chip it would have been 3 assists,

chipped balls to our strikers especially adri were amazing, that half volley to adri in the first half just proves he is more than average and can find any player who is in a scoring position,he took defenders on with ease but at times looked a little silly(probably coz he was burning up)

but i was somewhat dissapointed with his defending a little, this man can and will do somuch more for Inter ,but now il try to point out how much Inter rely on his services as everyone can see why he usually plays on the left,

WE WERE NOWHERE ON OUR LEFT(thanx to wome for trying to lift us)

the answer is versatility, stan can do anything thats necessary to lift Inters tempo, whether its attack or defence,he was everywhere,on the right flank,in the middle supplying balls to our CF's,

CAMBI 8,Cambiasso played great, i always will claim he doesnt get the attention or credibility he deserves, constant menace, great ball player, great support player, really really this man is a gem.

VERON 7.5,Juanito was very good, very agile and productive, done alot of dirty stuff which goes unoticed like hounding and pounding without mercy,

we all know he isnt the veron of lazio but lets realise he is on a diffrent mission with inter,You still the man JUAN

PIERRE 7,Wome,was very good,SERIOUSLY
He is always playing better and getting more confidence,

his passing game is faboulous specially the long passes on the floor which were finding veron and cambi with ease,I believe we have found a very nifty and hearty left back,

IVAN 7,Cordoba done very well bar the fk up in the opening 45 seconds, but who would have known what was going to happen, otherwise 10 for determination and agility

WALTER 6.5,Samuel was below his usual standard but still played ok,the ref clearly had an agenda against his starts and dealt with him harshly on numerous occasions

LIETO 6,Adri is still not the adri we expect him 2 be,i dont know but something is happening to this boy, maybe his girlfriend or his mistress is keeping him up late but fk when is he gonna start punishing opponents,

FRAN 7,Toldone solid as usual, nothing to add,no criticisms needed,he is still our #1,

CESAR 4,sorry ,mate even i cant help you,

OBA 6,Martins tried and tried and tried, well done good work ethic

ALVARO 5,Recoba,when are you gonna get fully fit and last a full fkn game?nice shot and unpredictability, not bad for 25 mins

Villareal played better than i thought, once again RESPECT,proved me somewhat wrong in my assumptions, however im not fearing them in the return leg

for the return lets pack our midfield with a 4-5-1 formation and be stable and solid, lets score one on the counter attack, and play like Villa did against us

WEWILL WIN THE CL IF WE BAETA VILLAREAL IN SPAIN

Uhhh, it seems that there always have to be sides in this board. The anti-Ronaldo pro-Ronaldo, anti-Vieri pro-Vieri and now, the trend is the pessimists vs the optimists and the pro-Mancini vs anti-Mancini. :) But let's not forget that we're all Interisti and while we differ a lot in opinion, we only want what's best for Inter. :star:

I'll start by talking about the result. It's a just-above-average result. Think about it this way, if we play in El Madrigal first and we lost 2-1, I can bet my balls that most of you here will complain and tell that it was a bad result. It's the same with Villareal. Let's say, I give the result a 6-6.5 out of 10. ;)

And since none has really talked about Mancini's mistakes yet (Or maybe because I just skimmed through the posts, I missed it. :D), I'll talk something about it. It's downright ridiculous to introduce Materazzi for Cesar. At that time, I think it was 2-1 and it doesn't take a Rinus Michels or Helenio Herrera to tell that 2-1 was a not-so-good result if you're playing the first leg of a knockout competition at home. A defensive switch, then?

It is arguable that it's just a change of positioning here and there but Cordoba, the new RB, doesn't overlap as well as J.Zanetti, does he? Instead of a simple change of Kily, who was incredibly introduced later for our most dangerous player (Stankovic), for Cesar, he tried to be cute/funny. Also, 3 of our players had to change their positions just because of the Matrix - Cesar sub; Cordoba, J.Zanetti (Who never really got into "the mood" once he player as a midfielder) & Stankovic. Downright ridiculousity.

And yes, as mentioned, changing your most dangerous offensive player, Stankovic, for a player who assists and scores as much goals as Toldo is just...:wallbang: Let's not even go to "Where the hell is Solari?" because it'll just be a waste of breath.

And here's an accusation from me, which I have no solid evidience to act as my base, but did Mancini ignore Veron's injury and still put him on the field instead of using his final substitution to take Veron out just because Seba is...Seba? Hmmm...;) I mean, the timing is just too uncanny. Surely Mancini or Veron must have noticed that the player received a knock (Or pull a muscle) before Mancini made that final substituion. Anyway...

Some mentions on the performances of the player. Cesar is proving us wrong. I think he's the best transfer this summer, even better than Samuel & Figo. Even the most cynical guy in the forum, Tommi, will agree with me. Just look at Tommi's poll in the "Best transfer" thread.:lol::lol: Wome's honeymoon period is over, Senna's period is just starting. (Just kidding, I kinda pity the guy. My dad has a hemarroid problem and I tell ya, it sucks.)

And last but not least...

J.jpg

Thank the Gods that we are blessed with such a player, such a human being (See his latest interview with the CL magazine to see how much class he oozes) and such a captain. :star::proud:

maybe im answering for others but stan has had a consistant year so far,

even the last game against parma his crosses were better than the villa game,

against ajax he was frikn instrumental from the left,

las milan derby he was a rock, both games against gobbi very solid

all of his goals this season were pretty good,

against lazio in the cup return leg a screamer, against lecce another screamer, against ajax another screamer

my opinion 2T

I admire stankovic for his fighting spirit and this game by far is his best game for us this season but when people say that his performance was average as if he had done better consistently , thats imo is disgusting

Mate he was very good but he has played better,

like usually he mixes it up a bit, both attack and defence, yesterday at times he was falling over, just running to the opposition players and not really hounding them,

yesterday was just offence deki;)

in my opinion deki is class in all areas

dribbling, passing, finding players, shooting, assisting, fighting, pressing, always positions himself to recieve, first time pass phenomenal, great aerial combat

and what is most important he knows every dirty trick in the book;)

like i said when Jz retires stan for capitano

he can't be the best transfer this summer since we got him in january, he's the best transfer this winter and no one can argue about that

Despite a disastrous start I saw a VERY good display from us – especially in the first 65mins! Let’s hope their goal will not be as costly as many suggest.

I’m going to save myself some typing time by just quoting Catanha on Zanetti’s and my beloved Cesar’s (don’t get so damn jealous Mancini – he is all yours) performances last night:

catanha said:

Now imagine Cesar, and then think of Wome playing right behind him. Pretty mouth watering scenario I’d say! I mean there is no doubt that here we are talking about proper Lo scudetto material!
Wome had his first (If I recall correctly one and only) good cross in the 76th minutes!!! Zambrotta who?? Pack you crappy stuff and crawl back to where the hell you belong. So unreliable, and so god damn pathetic. :wallbang:

I have read most of the posts so I won’t repeat what has already been said. Just a few notes:

Shame to see Chino going off so early as he was great while he was on the pitch. Very energetic and on top of his game. Although it didn’t last long but you can easily see that its alongside Chino whom Adri can enjoy his game with.
Damn chino is unlucky!

As for Villareal: oh my god – what a nasty little shitty bunch of ba$tards they are. :frustrat: :yuck: Starting time wasting from the moment the sec half started! Come on….

Their captain, YES, their captain should get a smack in his face for diving so hilariously outside our penalty box in the first half. What an a-hole! :yuck: Cant wait to see them out of the competition. And obviously the early kick that most probably made chino limping of the pitch.

Despite the result I have a good feeling about the return leg.

Yeah but god bless Chino for going out South American style, the ref had given them a stupid foul, Alvaro knew he was going off, so he started swaring at the ref and got himself a yellow, and still went @ it.
Bless you Chino.
