it was not based on us, it was based on the team currently in fourth position. at this pace, it would be necessary to reach 96/97 by the end of the season to get a Champions League spot.

it is nearly impossible to maintain this point average for any team, so at the end it certainly won't be 95 or so, but it's very likely that it will be around 85 points, if not even a couple of points more.

The 4th team will have 75ish points this season. My prediction, nothing more. That means around 15 games not won. Top 3 will have more than 25 wins, can't see more than 3 having that record. We will see a dip in the points gathered by the top teams when they start playing each other and the ones right after.

Roma broke the record last season of most points without winning the title. The top 4-5 is getting more and more competitive. Though this comes at the expense of lower teams getting nailed every week.

Another reason for Serie A to be dropped to 18 teams as soon as possible.

True, but that still means we need 92 points - doesn't help much. The top 5 are going at a crazy pace right now, its not sustainable. The season is long and the top 5 will have periods of low form. And the mid-table teams like Torino, Atalanta and Milan (see what I did there?) will figure out how to play against the top teams.

Atalanta's 72 points last season was the highest a 4th placed club has ever got in the history of the league. This season it may be a bit higher as the gap is widening between the top and bottom clubs. But not by much. I think 80 points should be enough.

well, juve have a small stadium (~41K), so even if they were to sell out every game (they don't), they still would come fourth-fifth. Milan is similar to us, just slightly lower
the real embarassing ones are napoli and roma (and lazio), who have big stadiums and large cities/population pool.
especially napoli, considering the great product they offered for years now, and no competition whatsoever from other teams in the area.
