Finally a win did arrive in our Champs League campaign as well but too bad that it would be of no importance if we fail to qualify for the other round. The fornight's game against the same opponent will be a very crucial one as we all know and I hope we will be able to count on the presence of Cambiasso for that game.

I disagree with a member or two who said that Zlatan and Adriano have been shit and we should continue with the duo who helped us achieve yesterday's win. Adriano has definitely been shit for sure but same can't be said of Zlatan, as he has been a very consistent player so far this season. Wouldn't it be great to play with the trio of Recoba-Zlatan-Crespo/Adriano. If it could work, then I would have loved it. With all the due respect to Cruz, I hope that he would get many other chances to play and score many other goals this season as well. :star:

Adriano should definitely feel the pressure now with Cruz -- Crespo, and that's great for us and himself as well. It would mean that we wouldn't have to rely on him {just like during the past 210 or so days} and he would have to work hard and compete with others for the starting spot.

:)

I think you need to watch the game again JZ. Dacourt and Viera were not their usual dominant selves that is for sure but to say they were atrocious is more than a tad harsh. Viera could have easily had a goal in the first half had he not stumbled at the crucial moment when entering the box. Also you must keep in mind that while Viera and Cambiasso have been on the sidelines Dacourt has been out there toughing it out injury and all.

I think they could have defintely been better especially Viera but I think they did their jobs to an adequate level.

This team really needs some more cohesiveness they are not out there throwing down some blood sweat and tears for their fellow man. This comes with time but as it stands now it is a crucial part of the game that we are definetly lacking in.

Overall decent game and hopefully we will go to Moscow and win there no matter how tough it is. If we can show the same drive and intiative we did in the first 20 minutes or so of this game then we should be able to grab the win and help ourselves move that much closer to the knockout round.
I have praised Dacourt and Viera as I like both players because they both are class players – especially Viera. However in this game and based on various reasons they weren’t their usual self. Dacourt has been great defensively but have been giving silly free kicks away since he got his chance in the team due to Cambiasso’s injury. On top of that last night he gave the ball away too easily and made a huge meal out of several simple passes. Again the goal we conceived was a result of him failing to make a simple pass. That said, all in all he has been tremendously helpful covering Cambiasso’s role.

As for Viera I’m actually glad you mentioned that incident. Believe me when I say that a Viera in top form would have scored from there. However last night he stumbled and even failed to control the ball. I just felt he wasn’t synched with the tempo of the game!

What is crucial to bear in mind here is that we played against a mediocre team and weren’t exactly faced against a European power house. Yet IMO they failed to dominate they way they have done in the past. All I’m saying is that the 2 of them and perhaps one could add Figo to that list played below their usual standards (especially Viera) whereas the rest of the team were ok.

Nice to win, but I was damn scared after they cancelled Deki goal, most of all I was scared of Quincy, I like that guy for years and he did some demage to us
Recoba and Cruz, gotta love both
They didnt play in while but look how great strikers does their job even when not fit,and not totally in form

Adriano have best teachers at Inter to learn from...I just hope he is calm and is ready to learn

If we don't win ALL the games (SM + SL + BM), we are in Coppa Uefa.

I think Bayern will let Sporting win next time, they don't want us in the CL.

If Sporting won in Germany, won in Lisbone and lost in Milano: they get 10 points.

If we won in Moscow (I don't think so), won in Milano: we get 9 points.

And where that leaves us? This will make our last game against Bayern Munich, in Germany, our most important game in the season.

So don't be too happy about this victory over a weak team like Spartak Moscow, in Milano. Hate to say this, but Bayern easily won 4-0 when they faced the Russians. On the other hand, we had a poor 2-1 win with a poor second half, a their goal proves how bad is our defence line this season.

This isn't good. The only match we didn't let in any goal this season (including the super cup) was in Roma.

15 goals in 10 games.

And btw, sell Adriano now, and keep Cruz for another 5 season. Because even a 40 years old Cruz will always be better than Adriano.

Grande Julio. :star:

It didn't take Cruz more than one half (less than 45 minutes to be honest) to prove that he did more useful stuff than what Adriano did in the last 8 months. Earning a penalty, and scoring two goals.

I agree with you when you say that this win isn't enough. But don't be negative.I think the main point is we should not think of others losing.Because there is no point thinking about all that.If we attempt to win all matches from now on(not impossible) it is possible to qualify.

Look at France in the world cup. They were so shit in the group stage. They were certain to crash out. Then they defeated Brazil and Spain in great fashion and came close to winning world cup.

My opinion is we should not judge any team on early form.

One thing I am worried though is our defense.Surely there is something wrong with our defensive lineup. We concede goals in every game. That is not good.

Should we be in the market for a better central defender?

I wasn't being negative. :) I just talked about only the negative points. A win is always a win, but it's still the start. ;)

I'm truly happy with this win, for once we needed something and we got it, our game wasn't great and I think that the early goals decided the game, Spartak did fight back but they couldn't get the draw, better for us.

In the second half we had a lot of difficulties the kind of difficulties that we shouldn't have at home against Spartak, but he got the 3 points, although I'm not overconfident for the game in Russia I feel that this game may be a boost in our players confidence, or at least I hope so.

Great game by Recoba and Cruz, they presented themselves when most needed, what more can we ask from players?

why do we always have to suffer at the last of the game :(

Because Mancini likes to watch too much of drama movies.. where they make everything difficult you know.

This ugly win is way, way, way, way better than playing attractive football. i hope you guys still remember 2004-2005 season when Mancio turned us into a goal-scoring juggernaut of a team and yet we keep drawing matches like there's no tomorrow.

Ashkan, Dacout was a part of great play for the 2nd goal, he run around until he found space. I liked that in him. I didnt see the whole game, so i wont judge, but i dont think his ball distribution is that terrible.

I didn't watch the game... But at least we won. I just didn't believe my eyes when I saw that Recoba - Cruz were in the attack. Just unbelievable. Cruz two goals, he can still save a game for us...

If we win sporting and Spartak we are through.Because sPortin will not win Spartak at home. And you all say that spartak is bad. he is not a power house but it is diffucult opponent.
