Not that it means a single thing to anyone here, but we played home to Napoli on this weekend last year and, while that game ended in a 0-0 draw, it was one part of one of the better days I can remember having in a long time. Not because anything fancy happened that day; it was literally as simple as that being able to watch that game from where I watched it, which was at the library, getting there on time, checking out books I wanted to check out, and then go to the beach afterwards for about an hour and a half or so. So rarely do I seem to have a day go according to plan and so having one day do that was like a miracle.
I don't know how many of you guys live inland from major bodies of water, but those of you who do, I don't know how you do. We are all byproducts of our environments, and I'm no different, but since mid-July I've been living in a city that is an hour away from the nearest beach and I've nearly lost my mind because of it. Can't wait to move back "home". I just can't do it. I guess for those of you who grew up inland, you're used to it and it's not nearly so problematic for you.
