I'm just a bit confused about what you meant Jake, you said that his season last year was great based on number. So, do you personally think he had a great season? Or you are just pointing out that numbers make his season look good.

If you ask me, the numbers last season, and earlier this season, don't show how many incredible chances he missed. You can score a goal a game, but if you miss four sure ones, then the number kind of lie. That was the case last season at times, there were game where I couldn't believe he missed that.

I don't want to dwell on that, because I lover Vieri and I will always do although it might seemed and seem and will seem contrary. Seeing his goal against Cagliari was simply healing, specially the second one when he dribbled the defender, shot with the right, then roofed the rebound with the left :star:

First of all and for the millionth time, I said he had an OKAY season. I never said he had a graet season. And I think he had an okay season if you look at the stats. For any striker in the world, scoring 17 goals in Serie A and CL is an okay performance, despite how many games they played.

Personally I think he didn't have great season. I think his season was mediocre. I know he missed lots of easy chances, but still he scored quite many goals. On the other hand he had a row with Zac and fans, which wasn't that good.

If you ask me, the numbers last season, and earlier this season, don't show how many incredible chances he missed. You can score a goal a game, but if you miss four sure ones, then the number kind of lie. That was the case last season at times, there were game where I couldn't believe he missed that.

Numbers don't show "MISSED INCREDIBLE CHANCES", that's was the whole point when I said that based on the stats his season was okay. Furthermore I'd like to point out that why is it that everytime Vieri misses an easy goal, eevryone remembers it for a lifetime?? When Oba or Adriano misses the target no one says anything. I don't have any stats, since they don't exist, but especially Oba has missed loads of excellent scoring chances, he has done so also this season.

Here's the available stats of shots/goals (Serie A) for Bobo, Adriano and Oba:

Vieri
98 / 13

Adriano
146 / 16

Martins
56 / 11

If we talk about missed chances Adriano seems to waste loads of chances and so on...well those stats are simply useless.

All in all, I just have to say that you guys should put things in perspective and think about that if someone scores 17 goals in a season, that can't be a poor result, like someone tries to say here. Yeah, Bobo might've missed chances, but so does everyone else, keep your eyes open and not just when watching Vieri.

Jake!

Is this translated correctly when i say that passaggi/utili means passes/succesful passes?

Martins - Passaggi/utili 453/326 = 0.719% of his passes were succesful in this season.

Vieri - Passaggi/utili 651/420 = 0.645% of his passes were succesful in this season.

Adriano - Passaggi/utili 737/492 = 0.667% of his passes were succesful in this season.

Yes sorry, I meant to say that you thought he had an okay season, but for some reason I wrote great.

Also, I know that Martins and Adriano miss incredible chances as well, and I've pointed that out. I guess I expect alot from Vieri, which makes me a bit critical of him at times.

Perfect translation. I want to see Recoba's numbers on passes!

Crespo, Figo, I
we probably need players' availability for one season..
for example within 9 months of serie a, how many months he has been available...

this way, we know if we waste some players on the bench.. or that a player is an injury machine

Haha well that throws your Recoba theory out the window, although you could easily see this from performances on the pitch and just from numbers.

Remeber he also has the best assist to minute ratio in SerieA.

Think about the fact that he doesn't get consistent minutes in his legs, or allowed to settle into a game, yet his effectiveness is unmatched but go wank over Stankovic, who cares....

Do you seriously think he stats would be that good if he had played more, I for one know that it would have been alot worse. Recoba is a good sub thats it he suck as a starter.

22 games (1111 min "12 games") the least nr of min, he has played for us since 99.

Recoba sucked as a starter? whenever Recoba has been given consistent game by Inter in the past he has shined greatly and shown his brilliance.

I can't belive you said such a clueless statment, back it up, please, Under Lippi Tardelli when he got his chances he done great and I belive he would be a world star if Hector Cuper played him in his position after he came back from his passport ban but even then he done great performances and Im sure if he was called Stankovic you'd all be mad about such genius.

Listen man your name is called Adriano, the guy was given away for 2 years by Inter and had to be bought back, he is still young and will have a great career but you have to remember these guys are human.

Recoba has averaged a goal every 180minutes in his Inter career!!! thats Ruud Inzaghi Montella stuff not a second striker/midfielder stat and add his millions of assists!!, before he came to Inter he scored 62 goals in 58 games from midfield , at Venezia he was a star in only half a season.

Lets not talk shit now, back up your words please, Recoba sucked when he is given a good run in his position? when?

Also the last time he was a starter under Zac, THE NUMBERS WERE EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE!!! 11 goal 9 assists in 1500 minutes, If he didn't get injured and played a whole season with Adriano, who knows what they could of achieved, but he was a starter then so it proves your little statments wrong

Whatever Chino, I have eyes, and I have no reason to dislike Recoba.

If I do, is because I know how good he is, and I see him throwing it all down the toilet by refusing to give 100% on the pitch.

That's the real shame.

BUSTED!!! :dielaugh: :dielaugh: :dielaugh: How did you figure that out? Man, you can't outwit the Frisk. I actually wanted you to come back with Cristiano who, and then I'll make up another thing, but it didn't work.

Back to the topic, I didn't know that Recoba played as a midfielder in Uruguay. So I guess I know what type of a player he is.

He is like Luis Garcia at Liverpool and Giuly with Barca. Part-midfielder and part-striker players, that don't have the defensive duties of a midfielder. They also play better with a pure striker to have the space to move.

Only in the EPL or La Liga can such players play and shine, never in Italy.

Just to have a lively discussion here are

Cristiano's stats:
Games 23
Contrasti/vinti 155 / 83 = 0,535% (this is battles/won, I guess)
Passaggi/utili 900 / 721 = 0,801%

Cambiasso's:
Games: 30
Contrasti/vinti 198 / 108 = 0,545%
Passaggi/utili 1625 / 1370 = 0,843%

Veron:
Games: 24
Contrasti/vinti 139 / 80 = 0,575%
Passaggi/utili 1863 / 1447 = 0,776%

Stankovic:
Games: 31
Contrasti/utili 80 / 47 = 0,587%
Passaggi/utili 1243 / 887 = 0,713%

Thanks for that Jake, Cambiasso's numbers are impressive. Although the percentages are close to those of CZ, the actual numbers are far superiour.

But CZ has improved immensly this season, I like the fact that he is dribbling and going forward as well.

Recoba gives 100% in a different way, not in a Karagounis way, but his own way, which is attacking genius, when it comes to getting the ball back he has never been arsed but attackingwise he is one of the best.
