I wouldn't say we got steamrolled tonight. Yes there was a moment in the second half Sassuolo got too much space and they scored those two goals but mostly we controlled. We created good offence in the first half, something in the second aswell but the final ball is missing.

it’s more then just the final ball in the second half, even the most basic of stuff didn’t work, tons of individual errors, not concentrated enough, not running back, being to passive, not paying attention, not looking up, taking poor, rashed decisions. It’s classic Inzaghi, when his teams have a dip it all goes south and they don’t fight the amount they should, they aren’t keeping themselves alert. This is in stark contrast to Conte, that also had dip in forms but it was kept at a level where things like this rarely had this outcome.

Inzaghi is either or, win or loose there just isn’t much middle ground, when we play well we can beat everyone, when we dip we are at an incredible low level.

This is why I just don’t see Inzaghi ever win a scudetto. Lack of consistency, too low a floor. His limited toolbox is certainly not helping him either, but truth same was Conte a limited toolbox but at least we gad grinta.

But I don’t really fear top 4 that I’m sure we will achieve as well as progress in CL.

Unfortunately I have to put a lot of the blame for this on Inzaghi. The first team players feel extremely comfortable and don’t play like they’re under any threat. Either from losing their spot or the wrath of Inzaghi. He’s a better tactician than Conte, but he’s a nice guy. No one fears him. And his rotation that doesn’t always seem to be based on form doesn’t help. Against Empoli he was screaming to move the ball faster all first half and you could tell the players heard him but there was never any urgency.

This team will always be really strong when they’re motivated but for some reason we always have an issue keeping concentration over long periods of time. The players came into this season focused after the CL final loss with a determination to not over look the small teams. So many losses last year to teams we should be beating and we were hellbent on not letting it happen again.

A month later and one 5-1 victory over Milan and the bad habits are back. Poor performance away at Sociedad that we get away with. Poor performance away at Empoli that we get away with, and then today. We haven’t looked interested in a match since the Milan game.

It’s a bit disappointing because it seemed like the team had matured. The attitude in the last 3 matches says otherwise. This isn’t an overreaction. We are still the best team in this league. Hopefully this is a wake up call for the team and they stop believing their own hype.

The moment the team was sprinkled with gold and praise we completely forgot to be ruthless mofos like in the derby.

Sassuolo is an animal when they are written off. And this combination of papers only talking about us and the usual Sassuolo wanting to show off. Watch them lose to Monza now at their own place.

Sociedad was not the same as this one. They are a good team and Spanish teams in general put us in trouble, most of the time. With Empoli we didn't have much trouble, we didn't create much but enough to win it, they didn't do anything to us.

This match was the worst but even in this one we basically created a lot of threat too but the final pass was missing. The issue was we weren't paying attention to our overall game, the balance and let Sassuolo back into the game with the help of our goalie. So it wasn't a systemic issue either. The lack of effort was the issue, specially after we were chasing the result.

Can't put too much on Inzaghi. Players need to be held accountable too.

Don't have one.

Yeah, I agree, but we have to look at the bigger picture here. And the bigger picture is we very rarely get anything from games like tonight when we are sluggish and not optimal, aka a draw. And when you see there is very little draws in his entire tenure here, you can make a convincing argument it's some kind of steamroll we are talking about. Just the sheer inability to at least avoid losing in those circumstances is making me use that term.

I missed the match tonight, what the fuck happened?

Need to bounce back quickly and leave this behind. Shit happens, but feels like our players have gotten a little too high and full of themselves. They need to be brought down and put in a competent performance.

Damn it.

Barella and Basto will never play consistently well under him. The lack of heart from this two has been a major impact on the teams consistency ever since Inzaghi was hired. We either have to sack Inzaghi or part ways with those two. Or just settle for this shitshow season in season out
I’d add Dimarco to that list. I hate to say it but I also got that vibe from Thuram tonight, which is worrying because he just got here. Hopefully it’s not in part due to the injury to Arna. This squad needs competition.

They all need a flogging in order to stay motivated. That's why I'm always for a sergeant type of coach like Conte who will constantly yell at them.

This let me sad, before the game we were scudetto shoo-ins now I’m realizing we have 32 games left and can lose anyone if these regardless of our form..

Our mentality is still lacking.. And I don’t see how we can overcome that over the course of a long season :/

There were only a handful of guys that felt like they were trying

Hustled and did well overall:

Dumfries, Barella, Bastoni, Acerbi, SDV, Lautaro (borderline here, he shows signs of tiredness, like the passes accuracy etc., which make sense started all the games non-stopped so far)

Motivated but had performance issues:
Thuram, Frattesi, Sommers

Visibly fatigue:
Mihki, Dimarco, Darmian

Just shit attitude or ability problem:
Hakan, Sanchez

One of the main problems was a lot of the passes were off, hence there were a lot correction needed and chances wasted.
I understand the pick of personnel, and the game plan, but bottom line Mihiki and Darmian shouldn't start over Pavard and Frattesi, others weren't much of a choice.

Hakan was just terrible, partially has to do with how Mihki played around him, partly just him not mentally there enough or he might be tired too.

It's a long season guys. Losing at home hurts but let's just move on.
Three points in Salerno and vs Benfica and we're still on track.

The main takeaway from this game is that we need to fucking buy Berardi. It’s about time we stopped letting this guy fuck us.

Can I put this here? At least 2 crosses of Miki should have been converted to easy goals. I believe it was Lautaro and Dimarco. And then he misplaced 2 passes in the second half and became an instant trash.

I wish I could write "avanti cosi boys, avanti cosi" but not today ..

Sooner or later, there would be a match where the score would not be good for us. Even after three consecutive games where we didn't exactly dominate as we done before the national team break.

There is no other way but to win the next three games and this bad result will soon be forgotten.

I would add Dumfries and Thuram also. We had a couple of occassions on the right when they should have done better with the final pass. Unfortunately they fucked up all of the chances.

Thing that worries me is the way we lost. They were clearly a better team, after they took the lead we looked totally harmless. This was'nt one of those matches when opposition score and take the lead and then we start to play, miss dozen of chances. No, we made fucking Sassuolo look like superior team. Not optimist for this season after game like this.
