"We are very good in direct counter attacks and teams do not allow that anymore."

Eh? Here I was thinking we were one of the worst counter-attacking teams I'd ever seen in my life.

By counter attack I'm not sure what you mean. I mean that we caught teams off guard very often, 2 passes at most and we had players through for attack. Our execution wasn't the best, but the mechanics to get a counter attack going were. This didn't last very long, probably 3-4 months in the beginning of last season, but ever since Conte decided to use Lukaku as the only focal point up front and he's not really up to the task. But when you do it multiple times, it will eventually play out. But having a guesstimated success rate of under 30% when it comes to building up the attack this way, I think it's safe to say that we need to abandon it.

It is also very exhausting to the eye. Even more than all those people praising Lukaku for his "hold up play" when it's more often than not one of the most horrendous things I've witnessed at Inter in the last 5 years.

Click on pictures. Lukaku's goal for 2-2 was correct, their second was offside.

yeah i also had this feeling it was offside. If you look closely there is a line on the field and the gladbach player at last half foot ofside. (the pic it's too dark but yesterday i saw it in the repley)

This is the best team we have since 2010. And that makes it even more frustrating

Jonas Hofmann: Inter’s main tactic (99%) was to play it up to Lukaku, who held up the ball while the rest of the team pushed up and supported him.

Hofmann described our game plan under Conte perfectly.

One of the most horrendous things? Jesus you have some odd standards.

Lukaku manages to grab the ball quite well time to time. The issue with him is how he dishes it or what he does with the ball generally.

1) "Time to time"
2) "how he dishes it"
3) "what he does with the ball"

You're not really disagreeing here  Maybe you think it's normal to play this way, for me it's even more horrendous than giving it to Candreva or Perisic when they're isolated on the wing with no option other than to send a hail Mary cross. At least that part I get, we had nothing else to do as our alternative was to build through Gagliardini-Kondogbia-Mario-Vecino in the middle etc. Now we have a lot of flexibility but we're stuck on a formation that doesn't allow us us to fully utilize that aspect of our team, and we even more stubbornly use this method to attack which fails more often than not.

Honestly, if you had Eriksen as the #10, Lautaro with Sanchez up front with Hakimi and someone like Telles on the left, you could just tell the rest of the team to sit tight on their position and let the others do their magic, without telling them where to stand and where to pass the ball. And it'd probably be magic indeed. Micromanaging an attack is the worst thing a coach can do.

There was an angle they showed on the BT sport broadcast where the ball slightly changes trajectory after it clips the Borussia players foot for the second goal so the idiots in the VAR room should have ruled their second goal as offside..

Why so much hate on Darmian and Perišić, from what I saw they were good. I did not know what to expect from Darmian and he left postive impression after his debut, Perišić is improving and you can see he is learning new position, but he did have good crosses yesterday. Especially in first half when everybody missed that low cross.

Overall we played well managed to score first, but blackout from Arturo (who played also good game) and stupid VAR decision because I am also sure he touched the ball and in that moment that guy was off.

Also I must praise Eriksen, finally he showed some courage to take the ball and do something.
Yesterday I was mad as hell, and I did not even celebrated Lukaku`s goal, beacuse anything but winning was terrible.
But yeah it will be Pazza group stage!

I am not sure what you people saw to give you some hope in this team/manager/formation. Let me tell you something I have travelled to the future and I have seen with my very eyes, a mighty team wearing the glorious colours of black and blue crashing out of the champions league in order to compete in the european special olympics that is called europa league. Alas, all the loyal supporters kept cheering furiously for the team to win this great special event only to get thwarted again by an unremarkable opponent. Year ends, and a new year begins.

As long as we go to EL final, Conte is God again.

Reminder: Match has been prepared with Hakimi and 4 hours before the game UEFA prevented us from using him.

Pathology chief explains UEFA Covid difference

Hakimi-2009-mask-epa_1.jpg

The President of the World Association of Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine explains why Inter and Lazio players test positive for COVID-19 for UEFA, but negative in Serie A.

There have been several controversial situations already over the past couple of weeks, as Achraf Hakimi of Inter tested positive in the UEFA swab only to be negative a day later, while Lazio have had several players including Ciro Immobile who are positive in the Champions League, but negative in Serie A.

Questions have therefore been raised about what differences there are between the UEFA and Serie A tests for Coronavirus.

“UEFA and the FIGC ought to reach some sort of consensus,” said Professor Roberto Verna, President of the World Association of Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine on TMW Radio.

“The experts ought to be consulted to agree on what viral load constitutes a positive result. The PCR test seeks out the viral nucleic acid, which is then amplified in the laboratory to make it quantifiably visible.

“It can be positive with a different viral load, and also differently infective. The antigen (antibody) test, however, is a system to find the antigens on the capsule of the virus.

“As that is a less sensitive test, which only identifies a viral load if it is fairly high, this is more important on a clinical level, as it shows us who is more infective.

“When you amplify this way, all it takes is a tiny error to amplify another aspect and the person can test positive because what was replicated is not a virus.

“In the case of COVID-19, there are three genes that originate three different proteins in the capsule. Of these, it would seem one does not show if someone is infective, but it does lead to a positive result in the UEFA test.”

So did Lazio break the rules by allowing players to take part in Serie A games when they were positive in the UEFA test?

“Lazio have not made a mistake, it depends on who decides what is positive and what isn’t,” continued Professor Verna.

“UEFA have a very specific interpretation, whereas in Italy we say the same person is not positive due to different parameters.”

Yet Hakimi played like a week later vs Real Madrid as well. So something just doesn't add up here.

Is someone making a thread for the new game on Tuesday or are we using this one? I am buzzing for the game, should give us some light, or enlightenment for the season ahead.

We're just going to pretend it's not being played.
