I don't understand why some sites blames Carini for the goal :confused:

Don't worry, mate. It's not shameful if a game is won by a penalty if it's deserved. And in that case Angelo clearly and stupidly kicked Cruz and that was a penalty.

I have to say that some of you guys were too harsh on Carini. While he didn't play a perfect game and was shaky on a few occassions, you can't take away the great save he made at Cassetti's left-foot shot and the run punch he made to deny Konan (?) a clear opportunity on goal. The goal was definitely not his fault. Even Schmeichel, Cech, Zoff, Buffon, Yashin and Banks put together wouldn't save that kind of shot.

I forgot to say that this was the game in which Adriano & Martins played the best as a partnership thus far. They are creating chances and runs for each other. Previous games suggest that they are not suited with each other but this game changed it all. Let's hope we'll see more of AdrianOba/ObAdriano like this in the future. :) I personally like it when Martins and Adriano give a high-'punch' after Martins' shot was saved by Sicignano after Adriano made some space for him. I thought Adriano was gonna complain to Martins for not passing. :D

The goal was definitely not his fault
the first save was amazing, but the rebound luckily fell to the Lecce player.

No, No, No. The difference is that we deserve the penalties, we even don't get some that we deserved, and have some called against us when it's not clear.

A penalty is as good as a perfect header or a dribbling goal. If we deserved it, then you've earned it. Don't compare our wins to those of Milan or Juve.

What is with this team. We dominate the whole match and we have to score on a penalty in the closing stages in the game. We dominated Milan and we couldn't score. We only scored 1 against Porto after Dominating. I am very worried about our attack in the final third. Hopefully that penalty was what Adriano needed to end his streak of bad form.

If Angello hadn't hacked Cruz we would've scored. It was a lovely pass by Adriano and Cruz was onside, Angello gave him a boot to the gutts as he was ready to poke it in. Why is a penalty not a good way to score goals? Are we now going to demand that goals are either breakaways, from crosses or after every single player in the team makes a pass?

Do you all recognize that most times juve win by dubious penalties and tap-ins, Milan do the same and get lucky goals? I am dumbfounded by those who don't like victories from penalties. I don't care if we win by an own-goal, penalty kick, or a goal-kick gone astray from the goalie. As long as it crosses the opposing team's goal line, count me happy. :)

Hamed, it’s too true that Milan has been very very vlucky with the way they have been winning lately. Is lately even the right word ?? It’s been happening since 6/7 matches or so !!

Inter played a good first half with loads of chances been wasted, may be 4/5 goals shud had been scored by us. BUT !! as usual we waited for our opponent to score … sadly the equalizer cam in the first half giving us good amount of time for the second goal. But we didn’t do that well in the 2nd half. But we definitely deserved the winner with the number of chances we created in the first half… yeah !!

Carini can’t be blamed for the goal at all.
And as Handoyo said, Adriano – Martins did well. They gotta learn how to pass more though…. And one more thing !! We played with just one DM and still we did well, so why play with 2 ??

Stankovic ----- Veron ----- Cambiasso ---- Emre

Plzzzz

By the way, V.Meyde was good today, but we know him .... he's inconsistent .... ;)

Actually, Cambiasso wasn't even a DM, he was forward the whole time. I think Veron did more defensive work than him, he actually made a good interception in our box.

I am very satisfied with our midfield, they have developed an understanding. They might not be perfect, but they are doing the job. I really don't think we should bring in anyone in midfield in the close season. Maybe a RW, but Stan and VDM can play there.

I only want to see possibley a LB and a CD for sure. For the first time in years, we are having a real midfield! Yeayyy. :D

Just finished watching the game (busiest Sunday ever for me) and was rather pleased with the win, even if we should have scored at least 3 or 4 goals, if not for another super-hero performance by the opposing teams GK. :rolleyes:

I thought VDM was superb, and this is coming from the same guy who said this earlier in the topic:

Mancio better not start Matrix or VDM either! :fero:

I guess that's why he's the coach and I'm not. ;)

I definitely thought we lost something when he was subbed, though Cruz did well in drawing the penalty... and it was penalty. It shouldn't be confused with Juve's dubious call. The whole team was pretty impressive, though once again Stankovic was very average.

On the positive side of things, Oba and Adriano are getting a better understanding of each other and as a result, are playing better, even if they're not scoring goals just yet. The more they play together, the better they'll get though. Both individually and as a duo.

As a whole, it was a entertaining game and a game we sorely needed to win. Another three points against Lazio would give the team an extra boost before the Porto game.

People who critisize Mancini about the selection of players clearly failed to see his plan for the team. He is trying to get the same set of players to play together as much as possible. In this way, they can understand each other more and better football can be played. Barring Injuries that is.

Despite the fact that Stankovic is off form and still in the team is a testimont to that. I believe that Mancio is trying to let the team play good football then results will come. The next step that this Inter needs to take is convert those possesion numbers into chances, and also learn how to defend against counterattacks.

Remember Mancini suffered only his first loss last week. THis is also the only Inter side that I have seen in the last 10 yrs that is able to play great football consistently, the only problem is results dont come our way but I believe with that will come in time.

Well, now I'm reassured that we've played well enough to earn the win, even through a penalty, after reading veryone's comments. :)

And regardin Carini, I didn't watch the match, but just watching the goal we conceded, I don't think it's his fault. He made a beautiful save from the close range volley. He got back to his feet very quickly, but sadly not quick enough.

But, all in all, I'm just so glad that we won after the disastrous Milan derby. Hopefully, the Milan derby loss will be a major turning point for us, and put us back into our winning ways. :star:

Will someone please point me to where anyone says that Carini was at fault for the goal, as it seems many people are saying he was not. :D

I haven´t read anywhere where someone says he was shaky due to the goal conceded, but I could be mistaken.

I dont think the goal conceded was his fault. Imo he did well enough to save the first shot. Its more the fault of the defence which failed to pick up the running player, resulting in the rebound goal.

You know, it's just like Inter to completely dominated a game but to concede one at the opponent's first sign at a geniune attempt on goal. :D

Anyhow, yesterday's performance was top notch, and would have been topped only if Adriano were at his marvellous best. However, we are seeing signs of a resurgence in his form and confidence, and this can only bode well for us.

The only one issue i had with yesterday's game was the substitution of Van der Meyde. Just how many times does this man get substituted? He wasn't even playing poorly yesterday - in fact, his presence on the pitch offered more dimensions in play. You can tell from his body language that the constant substituting is affecting his morale. He must really wonder how he is going to have a chance to impress everyone if he isn't given a proper chance to do so? I am on the belief that Van der Meyde and Stankovic can do well as wide players to complement Veron's attacks through the center. True, VDM isn't the perfect winger, but he is the closest thing we have to a true winger apart from Kily. Taking him away just makes our play more predictable and ultimately, easier to stop.

If the game is anything to go by, it's going to be a big morale booster. We avoided the dreaded string of losses following our first at the hands of Milan, and we're going to do well to raise the level of our play in a ground that hasn't offered us many happy moments in recent years.

Ciao,
Tim

I was always complaining about our midfield till this season, I agree with intermilansg that this is the best inter midfield since ages.

I agree with Mancini though and it was clear yesterday that Martins and Adriano are great talents but they are still need to get better playing with the team and flashes from yesterday will tell u where they both take the ball and shoot when one of other players is totally not marked in the box. I remember now Martins chance in the first half when Capitano was all by himself to the left of Martins.

Anyway it was great match and more than deserved win, I was checking possession after first half and I was like WHAT, i remember in the days of Cupter 40% or less is the usual, during the time of Zac it got better to like 48-55% and now we always over 60% with small teams and over 51% with big names. What an improvement.

WHo says beautiful play doesnt matter, yesterday I didnt enjoy only the 3 points but every single minute of the match, poor Juve fans, its enough to check the news to see the result unless if they want a new replacement of sleeping tablets.

I've just saw the game again, when Stankovic missed that chance after 15 minutes (only for a whisker!), he was so desperate! Gosh I love that guy :proud:

No , it's not rare at all that the players don't look at the penalty itself and look at the fans'(if that team's fans is behind the other goal) reaction.

I didn't know that, thanks for explaining :)

First the question of whether he was onside or not:

Cruz was clearly onside (from original video)

onside1.jpg

Cruz was clearly onside (from after incident video)

Onside%20Cruz.JPG

Now for the dangerous contact (warrants unprofessional play and is a foul) (from original video)

DangerousContact1.JPG

Now for another view of the penalty with the cleats in the side

Another%20View%20of%20Penalty.JPG

And for Cruz's fall in the box (original video)

Fall%20in%20the%20Box1.JPG

Now for the replays -- Cruz is clearly straight on goal to score when he gets cleated in the side and that hurts

Cruz%20Straight%20on%20Goal%20but%20Cleated%20in%20Side.JPG

And as seen, it wasn't him falling to the ground, but his pain from being cleated in literally his stomach or gut area or close to it

pain.jpg

Cruz is clearly in pain on the ground

Cruz%20in%20Pain.JPG

Referee did not hesitate, he called it immediately

Referee%20Decisive%20in%20Call.JPG

And the defender didn't really protest that much, showing you he thought it was not a horrendous call

Zeman cries afoul, but no such reality exists

And when he leaves the pitch, instantly, brainwashed ppl start to cry controversy

Next is the Carini hand ball incident. Let us see what happens.

=========================================

The rule to clarify above situation

FIFA ORGANIZATION RULES:

LAW 12: Fouls and Misconduct:

A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following six offences in a manner considered by The Referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

* kicks or attempts to kick an opponent;

* trips or attempts to trip an opponent;

* jumps at an opponent;

* charges an opponent;

* strikes or attempts to strike an opponent;

* pushes an opponent.

........

A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above ten offences is committed by a player inside his own penalty area, irrespective of the position of the ball, provided it is in play.

==================

Guys wait till you see the handball incident..its not even a question

=============================================

Before we show the images, look at FIFA's interpretation:

The ball is played forward to an attacking player and the goalkeeper handles it outside the penalty area.
The goalkeeper is sent off for denying the opposing team an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

lawimg34a.jpg

Outside the Area= Being outside the area, as shown by the picture of the goalie being outside the box.

Now the pictures.

=====================================
Okay so the Lecce defender is onto goal (and he is onsides I should add)

And Carini comes out and denies him by punching the ball clear (from this view it is outside the box, but wait)

CariniHandballSituation1.JPG

Now it might look deceiving b/c in the process he falls wayy out of the box

CariniFallsOutsideBox.JPG

And he is the hero of the moment, ready to take on another challenge

HeroofDay.JPG

Now a closer look

Carini makes contact with the ball and punches it clear, and as you can see, the ball and his hand are a foot apart just as HIS HANDS leave the box

bestview.jpg

And as seen, a second later, when he is still inside the box and his hands CAN STILL BE DEBATED as to whether they are inside/outside (as they are on the line), the ball is way out of there. And do not be deceived by the video. When you pause in the middle of the video, it will show a trail. But obviously, it can't show the trail that comes after the contact, meaning that the end of the trail is where the ball is at that particular moment. It can't be at the beginning of the trail (his hands) b/c how would the video know that the trail exists or where the ball will go?
