Btw, Miki was never that great with taking penalties.
He’s scored something like 12/15 which is higher than most of our team. Iirc, he was second in line at Roma when Veretut was unavailable.

In any case, I wouldn’t trust his shooting these days.

No. What I remember from Dortmund, he had some mentality issues taking PKs. He never took penalties for Arsenal, United, Shakhtar or Roma. I think pecking order should be Hakan, Barella, Thuram, Sanchez, etc.
I'd put Sommer straight after Hakan, he is the only who hasn't let me down yet.

And bring on the rants

Bisseck deserves praise too.

It's true he didn't take them at Dortmund. But they already had good options (Auba, Gundogan, Reus). Mkhi takes penalties at Armenia and his record is pretty good. When your options are pretty poor then Mkhi should have definitely been one of those to take it.

Mkhitaryan had been subbed off during extra time so he wasn't an option for penalties.

We're back to talk you through all your feelings and emotions following the loss in Madrid. No @CafeCordoba this week, so there's no room for any optimism on this podcast! We also preview Napoli tomorrow.

Just a note on Frattesi: he had an abysmal 63% pass completion rate. Barella by comparison had 85%, which was the lowest of midfielders.

This was not the sub to stabilise the midfield.

There is now second time in like 3-4 podcasts talk about Lautaro not being good for Argentina and it's time to react cause I couldn't disagree more.

He literally had ONE bad tournament. Where he played injured under injections which is the fact that multiple people confirmed. He is top 8 all-time goalscorer for Argentina at age of 26 even without scoring any goal last year (cause he kind of lost his place after that WC not only by his fault but with raise of Alvarez on that tournament...who actually also scored 0 goals for them last year playing 195 minutes more than Lautaro). He was their best goalscorer alongside Messi in qualification for a WC with 7 goals (Messi also 7,and no one other more than 3). He scored first (and assisted for second) in a 3-0 win over Italy in Finalissima. He scored 5 in 10 apperances in Copa America in his career. Was their best goalscorer behind Messi (second best in the tournament with 3 goals, four players scored 4) when they won Copa in 2021. He was heavily involved in all of their recent success apart from games in Qatar (if you exclude that key penalty).

And I can't believe people actually forgot this but he started clicking for Argentina on a big scene much earlier than for Inter. There was for some time talk how is he doing with them but couldn't do here the same.

I agree and don't read too much into the national team performances. Even his UCL scoring record doesn't worry me as much as it does other people. We don't have a clinical team, and I'm worried Taremi won't in any way help solve the issue.

Mauro Icardi in 2026, perfect age, free transfer and as clinical as they get.

He did start off strong with the national team. However, he also started off strong with us in Champions League. More recently he has struggled in both.

The point was right now in the present he has a problem whenever he’s not playing in Serie A (or Coppa). I feel like it’s hard to call it a blip at this point. The World Cup was in 2022. There is obviously something psychologically going on.

I didn’t forget the reason he was the starter going into the World Cup. I even think if he scores against Saudi Arabia we see a different Lautaro. However, the sample size is too large to ignore now. Mentally it seems like he has a tough time dealing with pressure and expectation once things start going against him.

Mental midget, better than Lukaku, comparable level to Higuain. Accept it, move on.

An international break edition of Inter Jections. Our guest Bernhard breaks down the financial state of the club, and we talk about the dropped points against Napoli.

The only thing I would say in regard to the Acerbi situation is that a halfway solution makes no sense in my opinion. Either you find him guilty and throw the full book at him or he’s innocent. A halfway solution without proof sets the wrong precedent entirely.

I still stand by what I said regarding contract termination if he actually did it. However, at this point he’s denying it and there doesn’t seem to be a way to prove otherwise. I’m still inclined to believe Juan Jesus isn’t lying but you can’t make those type of decisions based on “hearsay”.

I'm just gonna say that on the topic of Acerbi and suspension...if you can't prove wrong-doing, you can't suspend him, period. There's no middle ground there. Suspending someone for a couple games as a "pre-emptive measure" or whatever has no basis, I'm pretty sure it's plainly illegal. And as far as apologizing to Jesus during the game is concerned, that doesn't mean he did or said anything wrong either...people say things and then quickly apologize to someone else all the time on the basis of "sorry, didn't mean it that way", etc., small misunderstandings that happen all the time because we don't say something as clearly as we think we did or weren't heard clearly, whatever.

I do think I've consistently maintained that Acerbi deserves to be sanctioned if he were proven to have racially abused Jesus, but if there's an absence of concrete proof, you have to let it go. You can't sanction people on the basis of conjecture. God forbid any of us ever get taken out of context on something we say, get accused of saying something that we didn't actually say or mean, and get punished for that...of course we'd take every measure we can to defend ourselves of those charges.

LOL Jesus Christ we basically wrote the same exact thing at the same exact time. Amazing.
