Change 7/10 starters won't work against Genoa, who just grabbed 1 point from Jube 2 matches ago (the only team can do that up to now).
Even as much squad depth as Rube's can't handle such many distortions.
I agree, but at the same time we do really need to get some of these guys off the field for a game just for the sake of not wearing them down. We just had a run of three difficult games in a row and we've got another one on Tuesday. No, I don't imagine Genoa will be a pushover. If they can get a result in Turin, they can get a result in Milan. At the same time, do we want to push a largely-unchanged starting XI for these next three games leading into the next international break? I suppose I can see some merits in that, now that I type it out, but I just have my hesitations about playing these guys too much in a short period of time and not trying to give them a bit of rest here or there.
Let me put it another way - we're obviously not rotating the squad at Bergamo. It's a difficult away fixture, always is, and it's the last game before the break. It's a midday game too, for that matter. Wouldn't make any sense. Saturday night's game is about the only one in this entire stretch where squad rotations would look both logical but also something you would think the quality of our squad overall could overcome given the opponent and venue. I said quite a bit that the Lazio game meant more than the away game at Barca and that Spalletti should (and did) manage the squad accordingly. This time around? It's definitely not a top-4 six-pointer game, and we have an outside chance of cementing our spot in the knockouts if we manage a win on Tuesday. This time around, the Barca game is more important. I expect Spalletti, again, to manage the squad accordingly.
