I'd like to know who was Inter's first captain, and then the most important Inter captains until now.

Anyone knows 'em? :D

Our first captain was none other than the player-manager, Virgilio Fossati. He was also the first Inter player to play for the Italian National team. He was killed in World War I at the age of 28 I believe.

Hernst Marktl is also mentioned as our first captain, so who knows? Lol

That was the Moratti's dumb decision to give it to him while Zanetti was there too! He was Massimo's lil spoiled bitch back then.

All captains from the Sixties onwards:

Javier Zanetti 2000-now (full-back, central midfielder, right/left midfielder)
Ronaldo 1999/2000 (Marcello Lippi anointed him, then after a njury Zanetti was chosen) (striker)
Giuseppe Bergomi 1992-1999 (right back, then sweeper and centre back)
Giuseppe Baresi 1985-1992 (full-back and defensive midfielder)
Graziano Bini 1979-1985 (sweeper)
Giacinto Facchetti 1977/1978 (attacking left back, then sweeper back in latest years)
Sandro Mazzola 1967-1977 (forward and attacking midfielder)
Armando Picchi 1962-1967 (sweeper)

previously there were Bruno Bolchi, Valentin Angelillo, and so on.

curious fact: the first trophy won under the Zanetti era, the 2005 Coppa Italia, was not lift by him but by Ivan Cordoba instead because he was busy with the Copa America with Argentina team.

I don't know Inter captains prior to the 60's...in the modern age he definitely is the longest-serving captain, yes.

If only we were as careful about hiring and firing coaches as we are with captains, we would have won a lot, lot more through the years...

Wow lots of long term captains except Ronaldo, so we really need to be careful when picking our next captain.

Ranocchia shall be the first Italian Inter captain since 99.
