See, the funny yet sad thing about football is that at the end of the season, it seems that the first 10-20 games of the season didn't exist. Yes, I admit that Veron has been good as of late. But do you forget his first game against Chievo? Inter 2-2 Parma? Lecce 2-2 Inter & Inter 2-0 Roma, especially in which he was practically as active on the ball as the referee. Inter 1-1 Lazio? And of course, the grandest stage of the all, EuroDerby II 2nd leg where he single-handedly destroyed, slowed down and cancelled almost all of our offensive moves? To rub salt on the wound, Roberto Mancini, somehow someway, experimented with a 4-3-3 formation just to give Veron his preferred role in the middle. Yes, that formation was used before in the previous game in Bologna 0-1 Inter but HELLO!? This is the biggest game of the season yet he went to do it, just for Veron, just to allow number 14 in his preferred role. An experiment. Yup, against Milan in the 2nd leg of the EuroDerby II.
My point is, Inter is building a long term project. What has Veron shown before this to justify his role in the team as the leader of our offense? Why was he chosen instead of the other players in the team, or even those available in the market before he joined? As much as Milos will disagree with me, there is only one word and that is
favouritism. You can deny it but Moratti has always had an erection in every interview in which Veron's name was mentioned, before he joined us. And Mancini, I don't think I need to go on further details.
To be honest, I don't really have Juan Sebastian Veron that much, but it is the fact that he keeps on getting his unfair chances ahead of the other players in the club that just make me sick. If you want to read a more detailed comment by me on Veron, please visit Jimmy's website and read the article that I wrote him in the summer.
Oh yes, speaking about Veron bet, sorry Tim if you are offended when I reveal this, me & Tim
did have a bet on Veron when he first came to Inter. The wager was a restaurant meal and the duration of the bet...I kinda forget but I think it was to the end of the season. Tim is one of the pro-Veron who was happy that he joined us. Believe it or not, he has since forfeited it. If you want an unbiased prove, I can't give no more than a fellow poster that is Timothy "The Great One" Jonathan.
