Our FB situation has been a huge concern - the players we have are so shite, defensively and offensively. I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to convert either Perisic or Candreva into an attacking FB for a while. They may be poor defensively, but so are Nagashit and D'ambrosio. At least this way we will have a FB who can attack well. Medel can drop back a bit to provide the extra defensive cover.

Something like this perhaps:

Icardi
Perisic - Banega - Gabigol
Mario - Medel
Ansaldi - Murillo - Miranda - Candreva
Handanovic​

What do you think? Worth a try against a small team, perhaps at home against Bologna...

I think we would be giving up two good attacking players in Candreva and Perisic to have even more crappy, incomplete fullbacks.

I understand that the idea is to utilize their abilities going forward, but just the amount of time to have them getting used to the position would not justify this. Besides, Perisic has been one of our best attacking players in 2016, it would be criminal risking wasting a sure good performance for an experiment like that.

i would seriously consider resting Banega and Candreva for this match. Jovetic and Eder can replace them despite knowing it wont work as good as we expect. but, we are facing Sparta Prague on thursday, a better team than our previous opponent. we really need to win our second EL fixture. otherwise it will be very risky. we are going to suffer from bigger pressure if we dont win the match. underestimating the significance of EL is just wrong in many aspects.

for our current situation, it's not only a matter of 3rd spot or coefficient but we also need to reflect on some other things. first, club financial aspect. second, we have big squad to be utilized. and third, brand expansion or image. ignoring these is not a wise and proper decision.

Coefficient points are still important. If Roma had more coefficent points they would have avoided Porto in the CL qualifiers. Not to mention what will happen in the group stage if we make it next season. We're going to be put into a murderous group unless we garner a decent amount of points this season.

Apparently, Bologna just 1 point behind us. So yeah I guess we Will stick to this eleven with exception in fb position, maybe Nagatomo to replace Santon or D'Ambrosio.
