Entirely looking forward to this. Expecting a tough match but 2-1 or 3-1 scoreline. Hopefully its 4-2-3-1, repeat lineup v Bologna.

Nothing would please me more than to thoroughly beat the hell out of Atalanta and wipe that smug smirk off of Gasperini’s fucking face. I can’t stand the sight of him.

I'd be really surprised if Inter win comfortably. I'm expecting a tense affair.

Bookmakers odds suggest the following outcome probabilities:

Inter Win: 43.5%
Draw: 28%
Atalanta Win: 28.5%

According to this [rudimentary & superficial] methodology, Inter are more likely than not to drop points.

Atalanta is playing Bologna tonight, where 5 of their players are one card away from suspension for this game: Zapata, Gomez, Illicic, Freuler and Masiello.

I am sorry but I won't say we should be able to face a full strength Atalanta. I hope both Zapata and mainly Illicic get booked and miss against us.

Let me ask a random hypothetical:

You are a coach and you have just 2 fullbacks currently available. One of them is John, an 8/10 RB who can do a job on the left and plays LB at 6.5/10 level. The other is Steve who plays RB at a 6.5/10 level but he's crap on the left and he can only play LB at a 5/10 level. How do you set up your fullbacks?

Do you take option 1) play John (8/10) as RB and Steve (5/10) as LB?
or option 2) Steve as RB (6.5/10) and John as LB (6.5/10)?

I would choose the latter. A 5/10 fullback would be too big a liability.

We had this problem last season. Not anymore. Now we have too many Steves and no Johns :`(

Anyways, to answer your question I would play Steve (Dumbo?) at LB, and keep my best fullback John (Cancelo?) in his 8/10 RB position.

EDIT: Atalanta are 4-0 up against Bologna in 15 minutes. Maybe this is the real test?

I remember when there were reports that Inter was intereseted in Ilicic last summer and some people were saying that Perisic is better. Right now it looks like Ilicic is better than all of our wingers combined.

If we see keita, Nainggolan, Vecino, or Valero as starters, I don't see how e can win against Atlanta. I have a feeling three of these players will be starters on Sunday.

Ahah the evil raccoon always makes me laugh.

But seriously: it is indeed a rather important loss for them, Atalanta though is a great machine relying more on everyone doing their part than on the quality of the single players. So watch out, Zapata suspended IMHO doesn't mean much.

Surely, Gosens, Freuler, Gomez, Ilicic are very dangerous but I am confident that Skriniar, Miranda, Brozo and Gags can contain these guys' attempts in the final third. Zapata can bully even top defenders like Skriniar regardless of their quality because it's just common physics, p=mv.

It was really stupid of Gasperini. If you are 4-0 up at HT, and both your key attackers (Zapata & Ilicic) are one yellow away from suspension before a 6 pointer against Inter, why send them to the pitch at all after HT?

Yeah, but even stupider of Zapata.

They have Barrow though, he's a good replacement, although I don't think he's been scoring much.
