Ok, don't worry that I am talking about PS2 and not PS3 but I might only be able to afford that now.:D

But now I am getting confused, with these two - PS2 and PSP.

How good is PSP and could some guys help me decide which I should buy. PSP might be easier for me coz it's a portable one. Can I play Pro Soccer Evolution and stuffs the same way I can play in PS2 ??

:)

Hahahahaha. At first I thought you wanted to compare the PS2 with the PSP!

The PSP Pro Evolution version has no master league in it. At least last year's game didn't.

But if you're not looking for PS3, then get PSP, since the PS2 is going to start declining, and I'd estimate only a good 2-3 years for that market. The PSP is a newer product, but I'm unaware of any developments on it.

You can play multiplayer mode if someone has the same game and is in close range :D

If you wanna have fun with your friends, get PS2(if that's the best you can get, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even if I loved having it). If it's just for your spare time, get PSP.

Why do you not like PS2, hehe. Is it coz you are comparing that to PS3 or is it coz you are into Wii ?? or PSP ?:D

I don't have a PSP but my brother does. Pravesh, I think the only person who can answer that question is yourself. It's like asking whether to buy a laptop or a PC.

If you're on the bus/train most of the time, or having weird 2-hour breaks/gaps in between your classes, then PSP is the way to go. Why? It's because it's portable and you can use it in the amount of a lot scattered free times you have.

If you're at home most of the time, I think you should go for a PS2. Wouldn't it be hard to find PS2 games nowadays though?

But if you ask me, really, just save up for a PS3 or instead save your money by playing PC games in the PC you already have.

Just like Han, Pravesh. Save your money on upgrading your PC (if needed), and use it for games. But that's just my opinion. :)

The PS2 has no future. I loved the thing, but there's no future in it. Only a few good years(2 I'd say) are left for it.

Well, I have no problem with that. Even at this time, I enjoy playing the Super Nintendo. Yes, the SNES! That was my favorite gaming console. But I wouldn't go buy one now if I didn't know how it was like and when Wii is roaming around and developing rapidly.

And I'm strictly talking PS2 V PSP in this thread. No XBOX, no Wii, no PS3 no whatever. It's just that if you want to buy one of those NOW, you should go for the PSP. The PS2, despite being a great console, is no longer worth it. Unless you find it for a terrific price and you so desperately want to play a few games ;)

But if you buy a PS2, you need to have older games. Who would go buy GT3 now? OR GTA Liberty City? Those two were my favourite solo games, I still have them and when I'm in the mood I play them. Now we're going to have GT5, on the PS3... It's all about logic and evolution. I wouldn't go buy the Nintendo64 now, no games are out and it's very hard to find the older ones. This will be the case with the PS2 in 2-3 years. Unless you want the PS2 to play a couple of games only, then there's no reason to buy it at this moment, if you didn't own it before(therefore have PS2 games). Yet the PSP is something newer, and I don't think that there's something SONY will launch a superior version.

So strictly PSP Vs PS2, I'd go for PSP, despite any past I had with the consoles. ;)

Get PS3 if you are still undecided (and want to go for SONY)

i also enjoy owning people in SF2:Turbo

i love it when they realise they can't do supers and block mid-air

ps2's are so freaking cheap now, its like the best time to stock up on classics

sure if you dont wanna spend, dont spend, but the ps2 is still value for money

the psp is just a glorified portable ps2, not to mention the unbearable price

id rather game on my giant tv screen than a 5 inch screen

The Super Marios were amazing back then.
Alladin was a classic. We should make a thread about SNES :D

First of all, thanx alot for the replies guys and hope you guys keep on replying me, coz I am so confused at the moment. :D

OK, I will be more frank here. First of all, I don't want to spend bucks on these coz of financial reasons. I will be able to buy PS2 for around $140 it seems. As for the PS2 games, I don't have problem coz I am in Beijing now and I can easily buy tons of games for very good prices (same's gonna happen when I go back to Kathmandu (Nepal).

I am going back to my country in 2 months time and I don't know what's gonna happen for a year or so. I might take rest for a year or I might work in 2/3/4 months time. I might work back in my country or I might make a return back to China.

Then, one friend came to me and told me buy PS2. It costs around $240 which includes all the stuffs (games so on). Well, I might be jumping from $140 to $240 and I don't want to go more than that at all, so stop telling me save money and buy PS3.:D

I will either buy one of those NOW or I won't just buy it. Simple as that.:p

I am done with my undergraduate studies, so no more classes for atleast a year (I will pursue my Masters Degree only a year later if I plan to). So, no games during break time.:D

The best thing of PSP is that it's portable. But what I am worried is - "How are the games in that and how different could it be playing in that compared to PS2?"

I love to play games like Pro-Soccer / other sports, I want to play Transformers / space stuffs kinda games (even if I haven't played in PSP/PS2).

I hate games like - Age of Empires (Sorry guys)

I am not interesting in upgrading my PC, coz I don't have that. Instead I have got a laptop and I wanted to have a separate stuff to play games.

Damn, you are not making me happy. IS it that bad ???

I don't think I would hang around that for more than that if I buy one. ;)

As I said earlier, no PS3 !!!! :stuckup::D

What games can I play in PSP ?? HOw much might it cost ?? Hope it's under $240 or so on ?? :)

The other special feature I loved of PSP is that, I can also watch movies on it, when I want, so on .. Any other features I might have to know. And worse points ??

Let me sum it up a bit. I knew that you were between those two, but I just said that if it's about money, you could simply get PS3 instead.

PS2:
- You can play with company
- Easier to play sports games
- Larger screen available
- Battery doesn't run out
- Overall spending should be cheaper
- You can watch movies and listen to music as well

PSP:
- Portable
- You can watch movies as well
- More addictive to PS2
- Broader market than PS2, meaning better games eventually

At the end of the day, it's your pick, whatever people say. It may seem that the PS2 outweighs the PSP, but it depends on what you want it for and if you have friends that share the same hobbies ie playing PES together at home. If you're more of a traveller, get the portable console, but you must note that price is not much different(PSP games may even be more expensive) and they are not as big, as they lack some of the game's modes some times.

But if you're willing to see something different, you can check the Wii, which is much cheaper and it's considered to be a rival to the PS3. So why not go for a "PS3" with the same money as a "PS2"? And the Wii is much more addictive than most consoles, and you must take into account that the Wii is still not in a maturity state, while the PS2 is in its decline.

Hope this helps ;)

Actually, PS3 costs twice as much as PS2. Anywaz, thanks alot Yuko again. I think I will go for PS2. After all, I doubt I will be playing more than a year or two. I guess it would be for 5/6/7/8 months.

There's a very very rare chance that I might go for PSP but I think I will definitely buy PS2.

Prav, if the question is about PS2 games & PSP games, I can't answer because I don't have a PSP. My brother does but I think he hardly uses it. But I think PS2 should have a better graphic? Also, I'd hate playing my game on such a small piece of gadget, I'd rather play it on TV (Not sure if PSP can't do that). Anyways, for me, biggest question is: Are you gonna be having a lot of free time outside from home? If yes, definitely get a PSP to fill in those empty slots of time.
