yea in a normal world, which isn't Inter, and with policy of selling to buy and I said if the decision is Bare or Calha I would sell Bare as much I love him, and for decision to involve these two players is very unlikely, but I am just saying....
that: you'll have to pay for quality, I am not buying with this structure in the club

One thing Lazio did well tonight was to double mark Hakan (except when they went down to 10 men). I expect more teams to do this in the second half of the season. Simone needs to come up with a plan B. Maybe push Hakan up into the AM position for 10 mins to confuse the opponents and play double pivot with Mkhi and Barella? We don't need to change the game plan entirely, just enough to distract the other side.

Or just Barella as a regista would be nice, he did that vs Real Sociedad in only 10 minutes

It kinda feels like we want them to focus on Hakan. As soon as other teams overcommit and don't get the ball, we have Barella and Mkhi running forward with 2 forwards and 2 wingbacks.

Is it me or do our set pieces generally suck?

PK taking is much improved.

🚨 Hakan Çalhanoğlu has rejected a huge offer from Saudi Arabia, who were willing to pay him €350k-a-week.

He decided to stay at Inter. 🇹🇷

"Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has faced criticism for his performance in Saturday’s Serie A draw between Genoa and Inter Milan.

As L’Interista highlights, the player ratings for the match across Italian media gave the Turkish international mediocre scores, highlighting his lack of creative influence

Calhanoglu started in his usual role at the base of midfield against Genoa on Saturday.

The former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen had a tough task trying to control the tempo against Genoa.

The Rossoblu aimed to put a lot of pressure on the Inter midfielder. Their aim was clear – to prevent Calhanoglu from getting time and space on the ball to pick out passes.

Throughout the season so far, the 29-year-old passing has been a key creative engine for Inter.

He has shown the ability to quickly recognize the opportunity to play a dangerous pass. These have frequently opened up opposition defenses.

But Genoa had great determination to stop the Turk.

In the view of Italian media, Genoa were largely successful in their efforts.

The Ligurian teams made sure there were always a couple players keeping an eye on the Inter regista when he got on the ball.

As a result, Calhanoglu’s passing never really had the incisive influence that it often does.

The 29-year-old rarely cut through the Genoa defensive lines.

Calhanoglu did try to get forward from his usual position on a few occasions. But this had little impact, as he was similarly muted in the final third.

It was not exactly a poor performance from the Turkish international.

Calhanoglu did do his defensive duty throughout the evening.

But it was a very quiet one in a match where Inter required their regista to provide more creativity when he got on the ball."

No way we would have even listened to an offer for him in January in 1st place and with an accessible knockout round in Champions league. That would be insane unless they offered us 100m + and Inters owners are begging him to leave now

you could see it at the end of the season maybe, but i'd still be disappoitned in that. Min 18 months IMHO - if you wanna go and make good money, no one can blame you, and you'd give great plusvalenza for Inter, but still young and could have a good CL run. If the team gets torn apart around him next summer (e.g. Oaktree), then you cant blame him

Quite worrying how Hakan has been disappointing recently. It's not only against Genoa, but over the past few matches he has been rather poor.

He's most probably fatigued because of playing way too much at the highest intensity. You can tell that he lacks energy and them fresh legs by the way he runs and challenges. We need him to recover and perform as he did consistently over the past couple of seasons, because when he's off, entire concept of the game looks awkward.

That offer reportedly was made in the summer and not now... It s just gazzetta reporting it now....

Btw according to tramontana Hakan left it up to inter... As in he wanted to stay here but would have accepted the saudis if Inter wanted to sell him...
Not sure how much he really knows though

Here`s more from that interview

Calhanoglu’s message to Milan fans: ‘Love more important than money’

Hakan Calhanoglu confirms he rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia, claims he didn’t join Inter from Milan for money as ‘love is more important’ and insists he does ‘not listen’ to what Juventus say.

During his latest interview with Sportmediaset, the Turkey international confirmed that he had rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia.
“Yes, it’s true but my agent never really tells me about these things because he knows I am focused on my work with Inter,” said Calhanoglu.
“I decided not to go anyway because I love Inter. I have an important role. I am grateful to Inter because they’ve made me grow.”

Calhanoglu has recently signed a contract extension with Inter. He joined the Nerazzurri as a free agent from Milan in 2021.
“Everyone thinks I left Milan for the money, but money isn’t everything,” he claimed.
“To me, to feel love is more important, and it’s what I am getting from our fans. This is something that will forever stay in my heart. I have many targets with Inter.
“I remember my first Inter game against Genoa really well. I was a little bit nervous. I was thinking about the fans’ expectations,” he continued.
“I focused entirely on my work. I have trust in myself, I know my qualities, but when the fans give you something, it’s nice to give back. I am happy because it’s not easy to receive this love.”

What does he feel when Milan fans say they won the title after he left while he has yet to lift the Scudetto at Inter?
“I wish them the best, but with patience, we’ll see,” he replied.

The 29-year-old has been deployed as a deep-lying playmaker this season, and Turkey coach Vincenzo Montella has recently said the Inter star is currently the best midfielder in Serie A.
When I started this season as a regista, I hired a personal coach to work with him on holiday. I watched many videos and when the season began, I was ready,” revealed Calhanoglu.
“It’s not too different from the roles I covered in the past. I can still improve and do even more. I feel confident there and I hope I can do even more.”

What’s Inzaghi’s best quality?
“The way he speaks with the players and how he behaves with us,” argued the Turkish midfielder.
“He always wants to win and gets angry when we slow down. Once the training session finishes, he has a big heart, he is very calm and we can talk about anything with him. He is also growing. You can’t do everything in one year. We arrived at the club at the same moment and we are all growing on the pitch.”

Would he prefer to win the Scudetto or reach another Champions League Final this season? Calhanoglu replied with no hesitation:
“Scudetto!”

So, are Juventus Inter’s most dangerous opponents even if they say their target is to reach the top four?
“I don’t look at them, I only look at Inter and I don’t even listen,” he concluded.

Calhanoglu has scored eight goals and delivered three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season. His contract with the Nerazzurri expires in June 2027
He has my respect for hiring a personal coach during the summer holiday.

I appreciate his interview, but we are not growing. We regressed from scudetto winners to just a top4 finisher. Or is he talking about himself and Inzaghi? If that's the case, then yeah, you guys are growing. However, you better do it faster cause you both are not getting any younger and you are yet to win something worthy.

What worries me is that as much as I like Hakan, it feels to me like he isn't mentally at 100%. Just a feeling I have. He took over one of the hardest jobs, being Brozović's successor. Also is our primary penalty taker, very good at it. He still runs his ass off and made a lot of defensive challenges. Kudos to him.

But we have to acknowledge that slowly he is making more and more passing mistakes and his free kicks/corner have been abysmal. Remember the game when Asllani was subbed in for him and had that beautiful long pass? Just one of the matches when Hakan wasn't performing at his best. So it's been about 10 games already where he looks either burned out or maybe he just can't stand the pressure.

I like that he is trying to do uplifting messages and bringing the group together. I feel Brozović probably wasn't that kind of a guy.

I am also worried about him. He is still the guy who left beelan and after that beelan won scudetto. Lets hope this is the season he wins it. Same as Limone. We'll see are they mentally strong enough to become scudetto winners.
