The subs were pretty logic, the speed from Navas and the goal from Torres, but Torres was not 100% and he proved that today, so everyone thinks Cesc could have changed the game, it's true he has a nice shot and use to score a lot, but iam not sure if he could add something different today, you have xavi, xabi alonso, iniesta, silva... i don't really know. Fact is, Villa didn't have any single chance in front the Swiz keeper or atleast in front a defender and the keeper, they were really good defending with everyone.

Imo, both teams will advance. i see something like this

switzerland only needs a draw vs chile.

I can remember he had the chance. Had he gone for shot and not for a stupid pass like he did, he would score. This was at the end of the first half as if I remember it correctly.

A lot of things can happen in this group now, made all the more precarious should Brasil win their group - since the runner up in H will face the winner in G.

Chile & Suisse both on 3 pts & facing eachother on 6/21 means a win sees that side through to the next round...Spain should get a win over Honduras, who will be the punching bag for the group it seems and that will set up their match with Chile to decide their fate.

Should Chile win against the Suisse, they could even play for a draw against Spain who will have to win...Head to head and goal differential will factor in, I suspect.

Chile vs Suisse will be a big match, if Chile win then Spain will see their chances of advancing really reduce (Providing Suisse beat Honduras)

Chile should beat Switzerland. They can't go not conceding for THAT long.

Honduras might get a point in this group. Not because they're good, but I just don't see them not grabbing at least a point(vs Switzerland I would guess, 0-0 score)

I have my hopes that Chile will beat Spain. The Spaniards will either choke or think their names will win it by themselves. Chile has a great style but Spain could easily beat them in 7 out of 10 times they'd face them. I'm counting on that 30% :D A draw is the most likely result imo.
Spain beats Honduras.
That leaves us with:

Chile 7
Switzerland 4
Spain 4
Honduras 1

Does it go with games between teams or goal difference?

(1) Goal difference in all the group matches.

(2) Greater number of goals scored in all the group matches.

(3) Greater number of points obtained in the matches between the teams in question.

(4) Goal difference resulting from the matches between the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal after applying above criteria).

(5) Greater number of goals scored in the matches between the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal after applying above criteria).

(6) A drawing of lots by the Organising Committee.

Allez baby, allez!

My family are Suisse and the Suisse, in general, are fairly modest people...They're partying pretty enthusiastically back home

Yeah this was great by the way i ve never seen people over here getting so excited about a single game, Yesterday was one big party over here!!!
Anyway i was really surprised that our defense could hold spain back even thought we had some big troubles with our cbs in the previous matches. Also i simply could not get the idea out of my head that Hitzfeld showed the players the barca inter match and told them to play exactly like inter did.

Yeah, I received a lot of texts throughout the day...A big party

Apparently Hitzfeld cited the US victory over Spain in the Confederation Cup as a model for his gameplan...When Senderos went out, I had hoped maybe Magnin would be used at CB but Bergen did a fine job ultimately...Zeigler & Lichtsteiner were world class...Great team performance from the Suisse

Matthäus,Messi,
The swiss team was great but their success had one name above all-Benaglio.

Really?...He's a terrific keeper, no doubt, but I didn't really see him make any amazing saves, tbh.

I thought Inler, Derdiyok, Barnetta, Lichtsteiner, Zeigler and Nkufo all played very big roles in the win

Well he killed the 100% one of Pique and had a great 1on1(forgot who the spaniard was)in addition.Above all he was rock solid in everything,i particullary liked the way he came out of the goal at corner situations he was radiating self confidence.
Spain had their fair amount of chances as the swiss defence was beaten on several occasions...except the guy in the goal.

Yeah those players really were fantastic.

I'm starting to think Inler is a player Inter need btw...

Agree, many of them were great and worked very hard for Swiss. Thats the only and right way to play against Spain.

So Brazil v Spain in the last 16 within the bounds of possibilty after the 1st round...;)

SE SALTELLI....
its funny cause the boys at bbc already stated that someone would get sent off in the first half, after judging how the ref was calling the game in the first 15 mins....

Yup, just an utter crap referee, again, being manipulated by diving/simulation....This Saudi ref was actually terrible in the first match, as well...Replays really needed, now more than ever, IMHO
