Go Switzerland!
They have a true chance of winning the group now, France have absolutely no width or attacking flair in their midfield.
The only way IMO that France can make a big impact on this tournament is if they introduce Frank Ribiery from the start.

What a retard. As if Boumsong being picked over Mexes wasn't that bad, he actually managed to commit two other blunders. I'm trying to root for France here because it'll be the last time Zizou is on a football pitch, but Domenech is certainly testing my patience.

Who on earth is going to cause havoc on the right side like Giuly is capable of? Had he atleast tooken another proper right winger things wouldn't look as doom and gloom, but I can't pin point a player he chose over Ludovic. That's quite sad. Robert Pires, another big name left out, why?

The most understandable snub is Nico Anelka, a total head-case. Even then, I'd have tooken him. Just too talented, and talent is something this squad lacks now with these poor selections.

exactly my thoughts..

ok..Anelka..mental case, agreed, but seriously...Louis Saha????
Wiltord?? No rightwing whatsoever??
No Mexes, who this season had alongside of Gallas the best season of all french defenders??

At the last 2 tournaments, France's stupidity in player selections cost them a lot. In 2002 they snubbed Gallas, Dalmat, Robert and Carriere, who all had fine seasons, and lost.
In 2004 they snubbed Mexes, Micoud and played a terrible not understandable system and messed it up.

2006...same shit. This will be a second round k.o.
Seriously..what have Boumsong, Saha, Wiltord and so many other players lost in that squad??

The only was I can think of them playing well is to play like this:

------Makelele-------Vieira-------------
Zidane--------------------Malouda-----

I still don't get Mexes' exclusion :wallbang:

Zidane on the right wing won't work. It will either be a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-1-2 or 4-4-2 diamond.

But if they play this way, they will have a totally exposed right wing as Zidane always drifts in the middle.

As reported first by Durai (really this time) Cisse suffered a broken leg and is out of the WC.

Tough luck to him, and the challenge was eeringly similar to that one against Blackburn in 04 that broke his leg, but this was in the right one.

I guess this could be a blessing in disguise since Domenech wasn't still sure who'd partner Henry. Now it should be TresGay.

As for their line-up, the midfield will be similar to the one I posted. However, I am not sure how'd Zidane play because, like Mehdi said, he drifts in too much. But from the highlights today, Zidane stuck to the right alot.

And LOL about the Chinese defender's own-goal. This one ranks up there with Materazzi's. It was really hilarious.

How gutted must this guy be? As if Cisse's first broken leg wasn't punishing enough, he's going to miss the World Cup for a meaningless friendly just two days before the actual tournament.

I'd put him on suicide watch right now, seriously. I'm hoping for a good and speedy recover for you, Djibril. :(

BTW, could anyone upload the actual tackle? I heard it was an ugly scene, of course.

Tough luck to Cisse. Again with the broken leg.

I can't stand the French. I hope they don't even make it out of their Group stage, though it's quite the sad group so it seems unlikely.

Giuly had said after the selection, that he is going on vacation and domenech can go fark himself.

let's see what he will say now though.

Trez-Henry doesn't work. One goal together against China is weak.

By the way this was said before Cisse's injuruy

Champions League winner Ludovic Giuly will refuse to make himself available for France coach Raymond Domenech at the World Cup even in the case of a last-minute injury.

The 29-year-old was last week not included in Domenech’s 23-man squad for the prestigious competition which takes place in Germany from June 9 to July 9.

“If a player gets injured at the last minute, well, too bad for Domenech,” said Giuly, who has 17 caps and won the Primera Liga and Champions League titles with Barcelona this season.

Giuly, who has been one of the most used players by Domenech since he took the reins of the national team in July 2004, does not understand why he was not picked and is highly critical of the coach’s selection.
“The worst thing is that no one phoned me to tell me to be ready in case of a last-minute injury,” Giuly said.

“Domenech was not even capable of doing that.
“The most important thing is to talk with the players, but he did not dare to do it.

“I deserved more respect. Apparently I am not even part of the 30 or 40-man list. I don’t know where I am and I don’t know whether I am part of any plans in the future.

“So I am off to Australia for a month. I will do some canoeing among crocodiles, kangaroos and penguins.”
Giuly was convinced he fulfilled all of Domenech’s criteria to be part of the team.

“I could recognise myself in everything he said on television about the conditions required to go to the World Cup,” he added in L’Equipe.

“He wanted experience, players capable of accepting being on the bench, who play in a great club and are ready to fight while remaining happy at all times. I did all that in Barcelona.

“So either I did not understand or Domenech has to change his speech.”

LOOOOOL! No wonder the guy is among the most popular players in the squad. he's funny as hell.

But I guess when you are 1.64, have shoe size 39 and drive a big Landcruiser jeep, you must have some sense of humour.

he called up Govou...massive mistake. I would have called up Anelka. no matter how much of a nutcase he is, his little toe got more talent than half of the squad and most importantly, Henry and the other guys are all cool with him.

The French always like to make flare and drama.

I fully understand Giuly, but this is the World Cup. This will probably be his last chance to be in it and players die to play a second in the WC.

Same with Anelka. If you are not chosen, just say you are upset. Don't mention anything about you not coming even when called.

Was Cisse supposed to be the starter anyway?
