I don't mind that we lost as much as I was upset by ref giving 15 consecutive fouls to Switzerland every damn time, offensive fouls nonetheless.
Blatant shilling of SMS who, obvious to everyone, had to play all 90 minutes no matter what so he got relegated to a DLP midfielder role which was the dumbest decision of the evening. He also somehow managed to lose virtually every single duel he had. Ljajic was put in too late and that drama queen Mitrovic shouldn't have even started. He means well but he lacks physical prowess. Then the entire team collapsed and stopped even trying.

Anyway, 2 things:

1. I appreciated that Brazil kept the potential for attacking even after Coutinho scored so late. They didn't just camp all 11 men in their own half, they didn't just run to the corner flag and shit around wasting time when they got the ball. When they got the ball, they attacked. Which is why they scored the second goal (duh). Even after they took out Gabriel Jesus and put in a DM Fernandinho, which is obviously a defensive tactical move, Neymar, Diego Costa and Coutinho still stayed high up enough on the pitch. This made sure Costa Rica had to defend, instead of just letting them set up in Brazil's half unopposed. Spalletti, take fucking notes I will never forget that derby against juve.

2. It was mentioned in another thread, but mods, please do rename each sub-thread to include the teams in the group. e.g. Group E - Brazil / Switzerland / Costa Rica / Serbia etc. I'm sitting here clicking on each link and going through each sub thread one by one to find the group that I actually want to discuss - and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The Balkan thing is entirely up to the "Great Powers" who partitioned the area irregardless of any ethnic logic just to make vassal buffers for future wars. We're still living in the aftermath. Birds eye view of historical geopolitics is as fascinating as it is disgusting. This now has moved to the Near East. Anyway, don't blame each other, blame the ones that threw the shit to the fan and left the room a long time ago. Same happened with the state of Israel, the North Korean peninsula, Nagorno Karabakh and virtually every other conflict we had in the last thirty years.

About the team names in thread names I double that, I voiced the same suggestion in another thread.

Albanian eagle is not offensive to me at all so please stop projecting and generalizing. I laughed at it last night with my friend. Brazilian media apparently reported it as "white dove of peace", half the damn world didn't even get the reference. But here is what is not alright - had it been a match against Albania and had Albanians used that symbol it would be all fun and dandy. But when you represent one country and use a symbol of another country just because you intentionally want to cause a chimpout, and because you are counting on someone to get offended, then that is not alright. It's a matter of intention. Not a single Swiss got his morale boosted by seeing an albanian symbol.

Well, I doubt they celebrate like that in other games Anyway, nobody was harmed, except for feelings. And feelings are gay.

Oh and to add up to what I previously tried to phrase - look no further than fucking Africa for an encyclopedic example. Forget about the Balkans or the Near (Middle) East - Imperialism fucked the continent for good when it hit and especially after those countries gained independence. Warring tribes were joined in a single country, tribes that lived in piece before were pitted against each other on purpose (Rwanda, which soon after caused the genocide), etc. And the French are still maintaining their grip on Sub-Saharan ex-colonies, basically suffocating any democracy. We can also talk about American influence in political life in South America, but let's not go there.

So yeah, please turn your prayers to the US, the UK and Russia. Old cosied-up and ignorant gentlemen playing their twisted games with the lives of generations.
