Two tackles and you call that rugby?? And you call me biased? :yuck:

Greece were disgraceful, for me...Had no intentions to play let alone attack...Even when the score in the Nigeria match favored possible advancement for them, they still continued to sit back defensively rather than try to attack...No love lost for seeing a side crash out that had no aspirations to play let alone win

I'm not disagreeing there, but when you are forced to lose 3 vital players in the 10 first minutes of the 2nd half, then things can't go according to plan.

Some players are inexcusably called up to the national team (Patsatzoglou, Kapetanos, Charisteas....) and have been used. We lacked options we should have had, just because of Otto's favoring.

But there is no creative player available for the game, barring a 20year old Ninis, and there are 10 tough players that are good defensively. So it's logical that vs a highly technical Argentina you use at least 7 tough defensive players.
The qualification of Greece was lost in the game with Korea, and that;s not an opinion. Greece could have defeated Korea if the best available lineup was used. I made a post after that game commenting on that, no interest in repeating myself. You can't use your 4th and 5th best center backs vs Korea and what&ever in offense and expect results. Everyone realised that when Papastathopoulos stopped Messi tonight on plenty of occasions. And apparently the 5th choice center back was ever-present on the Greek lineup :rollani:

We now have a new coach, Fernando Santos, who I hope will be less biased on his choices and will give a chance for those that want to play for the national team, and those that can.

Our qualification path is relatively easy, only Croatia is the tough opponent, so you might see Greece pulling a 180, which I doubt as Santos is a very defensive minded coach. Rehhaghel at Euro 2004 had very technical players in Karagounis, Tsiartas, Basinas, Katsouranis, Seitaridis and decided to play defensively and he won. Santos apparently only played using defensive stategies while in Greece, so I doubt he won't continue the German's footsteps... We should have gone for a Greek coach who understands what the people wanna see and not fight with percentiles for a good result. Cause what are the odds that Argentina won't score with 70% possession??

I agree that Argentina in most circumstances is the superior side but when you know you're on the brink of advancing by simply scoring, wouldn't it make sense to attack rather than sit back and hope for divine intervention to provide a goal?...Seemed incomprehensible to me...Obafemi, on the other hand, will be having nightmares for some time (Nigeria, now there's a NT that is not far off from the disarray that is Les Bleus)

Palermo scored one lucky goal, i guess he will be the first sub for Higuain and they will forget the best striker they have (Milito), it's pathetic.

Milito was surrounded by 3 Greek defenders. Not easy really. We are talking for Kyrgiakos(who for most of the Euro 2008 match with Sweden contained Zlatan, except for one moment when he scored!!), Moras who was sweeping everything that passed from the two central defenders, and Avraam Papadopoulos who is a very hard defender, if you escape from him, he'll go for the legs...

Milito needs another striker next to him. Even at Inter, he's not that good in most games. He's a killer on the counter, but we always had the problem that he "disappeared" since he had no help really.

I'm kinda happy now that Milito sucked against Greece. He is the player that needs most rest after such a long season and him not getting another minute at the World Cup will do his fitness wonders. Of course, there will be some psychological setback for Milito but I think his body has been stretched to the limits for too long last season and it is more important to recover his fitness.
