that's what the speculation is indicating, which is a real bummer.

Apparently he lost Muller, Lewandowski, and Robben, among others. Ancelotti's biggest strength is dressing room harmony, so once he lost that I guess Bayern thought he didn't have enough going for him.

In fairness bayern are a bit shit at the minute. They're transfers have been poor. They have lost some massive players, robben and ribery are in their mid 30's, havent sufficiently replaced them, Muller has been awful for two years now (never rated him to begin with). They will need to redevlop this team again. They don't look very suited to the 4-3-3 they've been playing for years now.

Smart player but it’s so hard to find a position for him that he really excels at in most formations. Not a winger, not a CF and not an AM so it’s never really a perfect fit for him unless you play with two strikers

Bayern should have gone all out for Sanchez this summer and left James alone. They didn’t need another midfielder, Thiago, Vidal and Tolisso would have been just fine with Rudy backing up. They needed to officially replace at least one of Ribery and Robben, he is one of he few players that can do that. They didn’t want to pay him or Arsenal enough though. I think that’s what caused Lewandowski to speak out.

Hoeness: 'Players against Ancelotti'

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness admits Carlo Ancelotti was sacked because “the Coach had five important players against him.”

The decision to wield the axe was made after a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

While CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insisted “the performance did not meet expectations” and that is why Ancelotti had to go, but Hoeness did not hold back on what has become rather obvious.

“Ancelotti had five important players against him and that situation was untenable,” Hoeness told The Wesfalenpost.

“It is clear that we did not make such a far-reaching decision because of one single defeat. The club saw a situation developing for several weeks and months, one that had been relatively under control.

“However, in my opinion, over the last few days he lost five important players and that became difficult to sustain.

“As a Coach, you cannot work with five of your most prominent players as opponents. The enemy by your side is the most dangerous, so that’s why we had to act.”

Among those believed to be against Ancelotti were Franck Ribery and Kingsley Coman.

Ancelotti saluted Bayern Munich with a typically classy message via Twitter.

“It has been a great honour to form part of Bayern’s history. I would like to thank the Club, the Players and its amazing fans. #MiaSanMia ”

Serie A is then just as much a one team league due to Juventus.

The German clubs didn't have shit-tons of money spent on footballers due to rich owners like Berlusconi, Moratti ect back in the 80s-90s which is the main reason to the lack of European trophies. They have instead managed to be sustainable by spending their hard-earned money on great stadiums, low ticket prices ect. The 50+1 rule makes it almost impossible for foreign owners (often with their money earned in suspicious ways) to invest heavily in a German club which is why you find all the economically destroying football clubs outside Germany. The great amount of young German footballers in the league is as well a consequence of this which has benefited the German NT a lot as the clubs don't buy as many foreign players as for example the Italian clubs but are instead trusting their own talents.

Bayern Munich confirm Jupp Heynckes's return for fourth spell in charge, replacing Carlo Ancelotti

Bayern Munich have announced the appointment of Jupp Heynckes as coach until the end of the season.

The 72-year-old, who succeeds Carlo Ancelotti, has had three previous spells in charge of the Bundesliga giants, most recently when he led them to the league, cup and Champions League treble in 2013.

Bayern said in a statement that Heynckes would take over from Monday on a contract until June 30, 2018.

Chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on the club website: "Between Jupp Heynckes and Bayern there is a great deal of trust. The talks that (president) Uli Hoeness, (sporting director) Hasan Salihamidzic and I have held have shown that once again.

"We are very thankful to Jupp that he has agreed to become our head coach. He is at this moment in time the ideal coach for FC Bayern."

Salihamidzic described Heynckes as a "master of man-management and tactics".

He added: "We are convinced that he is exactly the right man to lead the team in the situation they are in to success again and to achieve our goals."

Heynckes added: “I wouldn’t have returned to any other club in the world, but FC Bayern München are very close to my heart. My coaching staff and I will now do everything to bring back successful football for the fans. I’m very much looking forward to this challenge.”
