In all honesty, given than both Perisic and Candreva are in poor form and considering the former may not even be fit, this formation could actually be a breath of fresh air. It seems that we could get the most of Cancelo, who's shown flashes of good football recently, and may even be an opportunity for Dalbert to show us what he's got, since he's supposedly an attack-oriented fullback who struggles because he never knows when to attack and when to defend. Though with fullbacks instructed to attack, attack and attack, we'd probably want to pack up the midfield, thus leaving Éder or Karamoh out of the starting XI.

Obviously, nothing is going to happen, Spalletti won't make such drastic changes right now. Also, it would require a Zeman-like appetite for destruction to play that line-up in defence.

This will be a tough game. Genoa are apparently the 5th best team defensively. We also always struggled away from home against them.

Just let THEM play, they're at home, let them have the ball and take the initiative. Have them try to invent or chase something.
Small/Medium teams in Italy are build to defend and counter...if you make them try to play and build up, they not very good at that.
Some games you just gotta manage, not always chase. I think this is a game you need to manage.

Right, but I believe that with their new coach, what they do is pretty much play with 11 men behind the ball. That's pretty much their entire philosophy.

Inter lose Perisic, Miranda
By Football Italia staff

It’s reported both Ivan Perisic and Joao Miranda will miss Inter’s trip to Genoa next weekend.

This morning it was reported that both would be subjected to medical checks after the win over Bologna on Sunday, with Miranda having to go off at half-time in that match.

Now Calciomercato.com is reporting that Perisic will miss the trip to Marassi with a shoulder injury, with his teammate to have further tests tomorrow.

Miranda is also expected to miss the match, but Lisandro Lopez should be fit and Mauro Icardi is likely to make a return.

Just when we wanted to start winning again.

Please don't tell me Lopez is going to start. This match has a loss written all over it.

After optimistic Sunday, I have a bad feeling about this. Taking bets that we're going to play:
Cancelo - LL - Skriniar - DD
Gags - Valero - Vecino
Brozovic
Eder - Icardi

To be honest, while it's always better to have players available, I think Perisic really needed a rest. He wasn't a best player recently but I'm not going to hate on him, he has his qualities and I think everone realises it. As for Miranda... get well buddy, we need you.

I really don't see why LL should start ahead of Ranocchia. He didn't look amazing against Bologna, and he won't be match fit. If Miranda is out, I reckon Rano will get the call.

Vecino-gags
Rafinha
Kara - icardi - eder

Kara, rafinha are a must. I love the recent type of brawrel-esque type that Eder is showing lately. Fuck valero. Fuck brozo.

Rafinha will keep great deal of balance in the midfield, he and eder can easily swap places all the time. And also with these players plus icardi there wont be much pressure on Karamoh, even if there is, fucking Cancelo is there to help.

Show some balls spalleti.

Vecino-Gags controlling the mf...give me a break...Gags nowadays can't even control his balls most likely

Inter without Borja has no passing range...is this so hard to see?! I dunno rly

With Valero we have a long passing range... to the sides and backwards.

At least with Gagliardini we'll recover balls faster and win most aerial duels.

Hopefully Ranocchia will be in the starting lineup, he didn't look too bad last time. Lopez is a disaster. I hope Eder will replace Perisic with Karamoh on the right once again but I have a feeling Candreva will start. Let's see if Rafinha is fit enough for a start as well.

Please start Eder-Icardi-Karamoh with Rafinha supporting them. Spalletti I'm sure won't. Don't see Karamoh starting this one.

Miranda has thigh injury
By Football Italia staff

Inter have officially confirmed that Joao Miranda is suffering with a thigh strain, so he looks likely to miss the trip to Genoa.

The defender went off injured in the win over Bologna at the weekend, and was subjected to scans today.

“Clinical and instrumental examinations for Joao Miranda at the Humanitas Institute of Rozzano this morning,” the Nerazzurri confirmed in a statement.

“The examinations showed a strain of the adductor in the left thigh. Personalised work will follow, the condition of the Nerazzurri defender will be re-evaluated in the coming days.”

If Miranda doesn't make it then Ranocchia has to play as starter ahead of that Lisandro Lopez dude. This season Ranocchia had couple of good games when he played though.

Yeah Ranocchia should definitely start. Is this Miranda’s third injury this season? Quite worrying tbh.

Kara - icardi - eder

As JJM mentioned, a midfield of Gags-Vecino will just not work. Neither of them can pass.

Secondly I don't think playing 3 strikers is an option, because neither of Karamoh, Icardi or Eder help out defensively. That team won't work as we will end up playing with 8 players for most of the game. However shit Perisic and Candreva have been playing, both drop back and help out defensively very often.

Based on the above two points, I would modify your lineup to this:

Icardi - Karamoh
Rafinha
Candreva - Valero - Vecino
D'Ambrosio - Ranocchia - Skriniar - Cancelo
Handanovic

If Brozovic wasn't being such an arse, I would have put him in the right midfield in Candreva's place.
