He may not provide the "cover"- that myth attribute that people attach to medel. But what he could provide, is the ability to beat a marker on the dribble, and push our team forward and move the ball to a variety of different options. Remember those trademarks runs he used to do? Those seeing-eye lob passes? Yeah thats right. Medel passes to Guarin and guarin passes to other team. Theres no such thing as this cover.

We have players with enough skill in shaqiri, palacio, amd icardi, that we should be raping teams with scoring chances. Kova in the back, would be the engine that pushes/and steadies us in the opponents half. But no, we need "cover".

Im bloody sick of arguing Kova's best position when he has shown it already. Watch the 5minutes that dodo was injured, and watch kova engineer an attack like he was born to do it.

If the defenders need to constantly be covered by midfielders then you may need new defenders. Yes it's part of a midfielder's job to cover for a defender once in a while but that should not be the primary resposibility.

Re medel, for a defender what you do is infinitely more important than how you do it. Lucio vs Samuel is a good illustrative example.
