De Vrij has also been very good, yeah. We were blessed with two great veterans for that spot this season, which is also why we have a historically great season defensively.

(I don't have as much time as you'd assume  )

Acerbi another shit show performance and directly one of the players to be blamed for the two goals we conceded this night. He needs to get out.., after that charge he has largely been trash

If Acerbi won't have a monster game against Milan, this should be his last season here. Thanks for the Scudetto and other titles, but I don't think he is worth the money to keep at the club.

Come on. Acerbi was just great since he arrived. Two bad games doesn’t change The fact he had a great season again.

Of would be nice to get someone younger for his position. But it will be hard to find someone as good as Acerbi or De Vrij in our pricerange. Also atleast one of them should remain next season.

Acerbi is at a high age, it simply isn’t realistic he continues what he has done for much longer. There is a high probability this was his last useful season as he is now 36 years and it about the time you expect him to hang up his boots.

Also with the incident it might simply draw too much negative attention and after that he hasn’t performed.

Personally I think he should retire, I also personally think Mkhitaryan and Darmian should do the same soon as both are looking old the last month or so, at best I give those lads a year more at the most.

For what we seen it looks we are reaching end of the road for all.

You can add Sanchez and Arna to the list if you want too.

Not sure about Darmian, but Mkhitaryan has a 2 year contract.

haha you want two of our best players in Mkhit and Darmain to retire :)

come on man. I want this to be like Fifa that our bench is all youth players who magically at the end of the next season 3 of them are better than our current starters but it doesnt work that way.

Both guys are good enough for the bench which ours is insanely weak. Mkhit this season >>>>>Barella and Hakan. Acerbi I would hate to see fing us at Juve, Napoli or Milan

He is DeVrij lover, his default is to criticize Acerbi. Dont mind too much.

we are talking players who have reached their mid thirties, they are not all realistic going to replicate this performance next season, one might but all of them isn’t going to happen. It’s not unusual to see players at this age have a drastic drop in performance on a very short note. All have reached age of usual retirement, they done well for us this season far more then you could expect, but it’s unrealistic to expect them to continue due to their age, especially when we have even more games to play next season due to new CL format. Beyond next season they won’t realistic be of any use.

We need to rebuild eventually, it’s far to be preferred to start now than finding yourself to have to replace half the team due to high age.

No top team is going to pick up a 36 year old Acerbi, complete brain fart to give more than one year contract to players this age.

While the players done well in CL our old team came out shorthand in CL.

Inzaghi is not a rebuilding coach. He will carry his veterans for 2 more years till his contract expires.

But then we will only fight for top 4, for a very short time, forget about any sort of a shot at scudetto with so many key players nearing late 30’s.

This was likely the last shot those guys had left in them. And then after that we will run into another banter period, because we just like in the wake of 2010 didn’t lay out a plan for the future.

And I think he knows that, unless new ownership and money for contracts.

This is a tricky case, like at first I thought it was his age too, but then if you factor in the drama that can affect him mentally.
Hard to make a call. I mean if we can find cheap alternatives, go ahead and replace, but if we have to spend a significant amount, then do it when it is clear he cannot do it anymore, including a Jan transfer.

P.S. I understand the sarcasm above, I liked it cause I found it funny, not like I think it aligns with what I think.

You misunderstand, we will extend to the 25/26 season, hopefully 26/27 also.
You must be mad, the lad is 36 already, do you want an antiquity to be part of our team in 26/27. Hopefully he is out this sommer, we need fresh blood not a pensioner.

Our team is aging and it needs to be dealt with already this summer. We have 11 players at min 30 years of age.
