They have the point reduction in the first season but it's crazy to see the domino effect. Really makes me dread what will happen to us after this season.

I have to admit something: Lately whenever I start a game I use the editor to dissolve all the contract from the first team of Juventus and laugh when I see them go down to Serie B and hopefully after that Serie C.

Given them a points penalty for the first season tand watching them flounder between serie a and b is more fun for me as all their players demand to leave is more fun.

I'm fairly new to the football manager games and just recently installed FM 23. I noticed when you reach 2024/25 season, it automatically switches to the new champions league format. Is there any way to disable this and continue with the current format? Or I have to install the previous versions of FM?

started a new FM game inFM23 for the first time ever

fucking barella got 3 red cards for throwing elbows in the first season. IIRC two in critical matches, as well, like vs Juve and Roma. All 3 in the league. Fucking raging.


Also my squad got DISMANTLED. Dimarco was amazing then in Jan city offered 54m for him and I had to take it, Skriniar sold for 43m, Denzel went in Jan to PSG for 40m, Brozovic in Jan for 33m, De Vrij, Handanovic, Dambro, Darmian, Gags, Correa all left too...

24-25 he scored 57 goals in 53(3) matches
25-26 70 43(4)
now in 26-27 32 in 20(1)

I've done about 5 saves with Inter (last one was January update) and you don't need to tweak this squad to much to be successful at all, easily win serie a first season and if you're good at the game CL isn't a stretch at all.

The hardest part is keeping players happy and trying not to smash your PC when the same players want a new contract twice a season, which is one of my biggest annoyances in the game.

What formations do you guys use on FM23 for Inter.
I tested a few tactics from the Internet. My method was to set a tactic and go on holiday.
The funny (and bad) thing is that the best tactic was the one that had no sense:

I did 2-3 reasons with our current one then went to my trust 4-2-3-1.

Made lauraro unbelievable in that formation he regularly scores 50-70 a season.

I always create my own and adjust depending on team.

First season I typically go with best fit and eventually I get my favorite ones in, but I can use 3-4 during a season.

More fun that way.

Only time I used someone else's tactic was CM03-04 with that Diablo tactic, but I had used that just 1-2 months before the FM5 release. That game was too easy already. I remember I got Lucio, Ronaldinho and Henry with Inter in the first 2-3 windows and I was unbeaten for like 7 years...

Did you manage to win Serie A every year with 3-5-2? How about CL?
I think it's still possible to win with a logical 3-5-2 formation for Inter, but tests show that this 4-2-2-2 wins more points and better GD.

I hate that I got better results with those weird tactics where I play Chala as a winger than his regular position. But as far as I managed to read, and watch on yt. DMs and Winger's positions are OP in FM23.

I haven't played yet "for real" just testing tactics for now.

I definitely won at least 1 league with the 3-5-2. The big thing, to be honest, for me was how quickly I churned players in the first season. I psoted a few above, but like by Jan in the first season I'd sold Skriniar, Dumfries, Dimarco, Brozovic, Gagliardini, etc etc for quite a lot of money which then allowed me to re-invest heavily into the squad. I got something insane for Dumfries+Dimarco, like 80+mil.

I feel like this game is more about abusing your players' best traits using then Roles system.

So whatever you pick, if the player has the necessary attributes for the roles, you'll do well overall. Even the weird looking formations.

But not all roles are created equal.

Mezzala is OP.
Wide center back can be OP with the right adjustment.
I think up front Complete Forward tends to be OP, but don't remember if it was in combination or if it's a lone striker.
