No wind up at all. How many here have been to the San Siro?

I've been 3 times to see Inter in the last year, vs Palermo last April, vs Barcelona in September and vs Chelsea in February. I know Interista Gallese has been 3 or 4 times as well. You can't accuse us of being barstoolers.

You are dealing with real Inter fans, who live in Ireland and go to the games in Milan. There is nothing you can say that will make me believe that I am not a real Inter fan.

I used to go to Kildare County games up and down. I'd say I seen them play maybe 20 times, never a regular but I went. I never had any great affection for them, the standard of football in the league was terrible and probably still is. It was more for something to do on a Friday or Saturday evening.

Inter are my first team then Liverpool, I don't have any support left to give after that, especially not to the shitty Airtricity League.

Is that what its called now? Why doesn't it have a proper name like "the Premiership", "La Liga", "Serie A". Makes it all seem like a pub league with drunks playing in it, oh it is actually, sorry :D.

So you laugh and jeer at your own? You are truly clueless and know nothing about the game or how it's supported.

BTW the premiership is sponsored by Barclays. And Noel Hunt and Wes Hoolahan are Irish international players who used to be great players in the LOI but then you wouldnt know that.

A LOI club knocked out a Russian club from Europe this season.

Why can't he laugh and jeer? It is a poor league. Just because he is debating something against you does not mean he doesn't know anything about football.
Noel Hunt? He only has a cuople of caps you can't call him an international.

An Irish team also got knocked out by an Albanian team.

"Noel Hunt? He only has a cuople of caps you can't call him an international"

Incredible and sums the football knowledge here amongst the Irish teenagers.

Premiership IS sponsored by Barclays, Serie A by TIM, but never heard of the Barclays or the TIM league.

Incidentally, Billy Connolly would be a great player in the LOI, so thats not really a level and...

LOL, I'm not a teenager unfortunately, but more to your point I'm not Irish...

Well your logic is that of a teenager. I cringe if you are an adult.

So what gives you the right to slag off our league then?

Guess what league Roy Keane came from? What level was he at?

We can slag off the league because it is shit, sure Roy Keane came from the League of Ireland, as did a lot of current and ex Irish internationals. Talent will always come through poor leagues. The good players will move onto bigger and better leagues, whats left behind is not up to the standard.

How many players have earned Irish caps in the last ten years whilst still playing in the league of Ireland?

Jason Byrne, Glen Crowe, Wes Hoolohan, I can't think of any after that, there prob is a few more but not many I suspect.

I would say less than 5% of all the caps earned were by League of Ireland players.

When I'm watching the Airtricity League on telly I like to play a game called "Hoof-Header". I'll explain, I count the number of times a player hoofs the ball from his own half and is headed back by an opposition player. It doesn't count if the ball hits the ground before the player heads and it only counts if he heads it. Two weeks ago I was watching Galway play Shamrock Rovers on RTE 2. From the start of the 2nd half to the 70th minute I counted 18 hoof-headers. Thats 18 in 25 mins of play.

2 days later I watched Liverpool v Sunderland in the Premier League, I counted only 6 "Hoof-Headers" in the whole game. The contrast in quality is startling. If ya don't believe me or think its childish watch the match on RTE tonight and count the "Hoof-Headers", then watch a premier league match and compare. Its a simple thing which I think is a good indication of the quality of football.

So is Roy Keane equally a "teenager" for not having supported his own league strongly enough to have stayed playing there instead of going all foreign?

Incidentally, this gives me the right to slag off your league, its called the Irish Consitution and in it the values of freedom of choice, expression and speech are enshrined...

Just because you say it shit doesnt make it so. Look at the European results in the last few years. Russian, Swedish and Croatian among others have been eliminated by Irish clubs.

So you pick one game you have seen on tv (the only way you watch football) and you decide its shit? Marvellous. I was at a Dutch derby last season and it was utter rubbish but I have the brains to know that not all Dutch football is bad because of one game.

While I walk around Ireland I like to play a game called "Spot the barstooler who knows nothing about the game". Pretty easy as they will wear the jersey of whatever foreign club has won their domestic league. They will air their opinions which are laughable and completely ignorant as they have never seen a live game.

When they go to the pub to cheer on their foreign club they will see plenty of long balls and balls in the air but will conveniently ignore this as all foreign football is great because the commentator says so.

Wont be watching the match on RTE tonight as I will be at supporting my club in my home town something you lot know nothing about.

So continue "supporting" your club through your tv set and keep imagining the players can hear you.

You havent a clue about the game or football culture.

You went to a game in the Netherlands? Shame on you! Think of the money you spent there that you could have put into your own game.

Also pretty shit leagues. Russian league probably the best of them, but still a long way away from a top European league.

Response to the bit in bold: Did you not read my earlier posts where I clearly said that I've been to Milan to see Inter games and that I've also been at quite a few League of Ireland games. And I have been to 3 Premier League games as well. So I don't just watch soccer on tv.

Not all fans who wear jerseys of foreign champions have laughable and ignorant views. Just because some of them haven't seen a game live doesn't mean their opinion is irrelevant.

You seem to think that to have a relevant opinion you have to go games, although I go to games and you ignored some of my opinions. Maybe you only consider opinions relevant when they are in agreement with you.

When they go to the pub to cheer on their foreign club they will see plenty of long balls and balls in the air but will conveniently ignore this as all foreign football is great because the commentator says so.

Of course there will be long balls, they happen in every match. Its the frequency at which they happen and the play in between them which differentiates quality leagues from crap ones, such as the Airtricity League.

Most people regularly give out about football pundits and commentators for being clueless and talking shite. Maybe children believe every word they say but the majority of football fans don't.

Wont be watching the match on RTE tonight as I will be at supporting my club in my home town something you lot know nothing about.

I've been to my local League of Ireland club before, they're defunct now. My home town of Athy and the town I live in now, Carlow, don't have any clubs which play at professional or semi-professional level. So I guess I can blame this one on being geographically handicapped.

I will continuing supporting my team through the tv, until I have enough money saved to go see them live again. I rather go see 4 or 5 quality football games a year than witness 30 odd shite ones in the flesh.

We might not know as much as you do about the Irish game or Irish football culture, but hey are we really missing much?

You completely ignore someone when their point doesn't fit into your ideology. You asked does anyone actually go to Inter games. I had the following response:

I've been 3 times to see Inter in the last year, vs Palermo last April, vs Barcelona in September and vs Chelsea in February. I know Interista Gallese has been 3 or 4 times as well. You can't accuse us of being barstoolers.

You are dealing with real Inter fans, who live in Ireland and go to the games in Milan. There is nothing you can say that will make me believe that I am not a real Inter fan.

Your response: nothing.

You asked me if I supported an Irish club and I told you that I used to go to Kildare County games.

You also completely ignored this part of my last post. Where is your response to this???

Instead you focus on the part of my post where I was basically poking fun at the league. I was clearly taking 2 games in isolation. But I challenge you to do the same and the results will be the same time and time again. The Airtricity League has a poor quality of football. Most teams have little or no technical or tactical skills, something which is clearly evident, even to barstoolers.

Because you go to LOI matches and can't understand watching through a TV when people can't be expected to go to all live games doesn't mean you have the right to just disregard us and our opinions and say you are better.

Your right man. This speriamo poster has to be a wind up merchant. Why else would you persist with such an argument when it clearly goes against what all of the posters on this forum represent. We are all Inter fans who don't support our local teams. Whether or not we are justified in doing is definately open to debate, but speriamo is never going to convince us.

The team we support is called Internazionale which translates as International, we are founded on the ideal that the club is open to anyone, no matter your nationality or location. They guy is clearly jealous that the football he supports is far below the quality of the football that we support. So he is trying to devalue our support in an attempt to justify his loves of crap football. If he labels fans of foreign teams as fake fans then he is a real fan and so supporting a crap local team gives him some sense of smug superiority.

None of us will agree with most of what he has to say, I say we ignore him and he will go away. All of his posts are in this thread and he has no interest or purpose on this forum other than to annoy us. We've clearly argued our case better than he has his. So we have won the argument, any thing else he has to say will be of little consequence. So lets not post in this thread any more. Lets enjoy the rest of the forum for what it is and ignore this thread. His whole existence here is in this particular thread, which has gone majorly off topic, so if we don't respond he won't exist. His small mindedness will restrict him from being able to offer an intelligent opinion in any other topic, thus making him redundant to us.
