Reports in South America suggest he will earn €2.1m over three years, making him the club’s second highest-paid player after Lucas Barrios.

I wouldn't blame the player. He has a contract which says he's guaranteed this amount of money. If other part of the contract wants to break the contract, obviously you want something back.

I'd blame the part who signed that contract for Melo at the first place (Inter management).
