EPL teams are doing it out of greediness. Why saying no to a lot more money?

You know when it isn't about money? The kids playing in the street, the school yard etc. That's when sport is really about the fun of it.
There's significantly less of those around.

So UEFA make a system which is not support big clubs right ? Big club expenses maybe 10x times small clubs. UEFA gift same earning for Small and Big clubs, when Big clubs have bigger expenses.

In the end big clubs have debt, except you PSG or City. I just remind this, PSG already fucked up all big clubs with their transfer policy. UEFA just close their eyes and do nothing.

UEFA against PSG FFP -> Weak as baby

UEFA against ESL -> Strong as tiger

I hate UEFA bullshit talk about ESL, they are just corrupt people which afraid losing money, using fans to get support about this case.

I do not know the state of smaller clubs, but they could be leveraged too. Plus if they are not, it is because they cannot find financing. The sole thing keeping the small teams floating is the big clubs.

its funny that man city twitter account posted what Guardiola said against super league. There's also a lot of players from the big 6 liking stuff thats against this new league. Good luck playing in a league when players reject it.

Depressingly true. I played football growing up, almost every kid did. If you didn't there was a medical reason or you were just viewed as a wee bit odd. Now, barely any kids play. I've got some nephews, like 5 and not one of them plays football. It's crazy. They all game and live ultimate team and all that shite.

"Fixtures will take during midweeks to allow clubs to still participate in their domestic leagues. "

"Games will be played mid-week, and all clubs will remain in their domestic leagues."

Um....what?

That was their idea from the beginning. What did you think, they wanted to play fewer games? Playing 18-23 club games in a season would change things even more dramatically for the sport. Not only would clubs be giving up money, but the fitness level demands for the players would drop too. That's more than half less what they play now. The very quality of players will drop and make the whole concept pointless. They still need the cannon fodder to practice with.

Sounds like Inter will keep Vecino, Gags and bring back some of our "brilliant " loaned players then.

My reporting maybe wrong, but the "purported" theme music for the new league is currently Money by Pink Floyd or the money song from Monty Python.

I thought all the domestic leagues "banned" them, so they had to renegotiate or something. Turns out it's just empty threats so far, and Perez stated the domestic leagues go ahead as usual.

As long as we're playing Serie A normally, seriously who gives a fuck? We were discussing bankruptcy a month ago. Now we get handed a lifeline, and people still bitch. "Oh my god we're not going to face some random Eastern European team. They tek er jebs."

Sassuolo manager De Zerbi: “I don’t want to play tomorrow against Milan, #SuperLeague is a coup d’etat”
“Its like telling the son of a worker that he can’t become a doctor. They decide who participates, they’re bullies. I don’t want to go play against Milan because they’re one of those three and I told our president. I’ll go if they oblige me to”

Shorten the games to 60 minutes? Do they want more drawn games?

CPO is going to fuck Abramovich if he joins the Super League

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Pitch_Owners

For those who do not know. They are the "owners" of Chelsea. Chelsea FC is just the custodian that bears the name and requires their permission for this. I'm pretty sure this exists in Italy as well, but I haven't managed to dig very well to see who owns exactly the Inter name and logo. It sure ain't "Inter Media House". Or at least, it shouldn't.

Official statement. AS Roma announces they’re against the #SuperLeague as they’re a “closed league”.

AC Milan chief executive Ivan Gazidis says that the proposed breakaway Super League will be good for the club and for whole of football.

Milan are one of three Italian clubs to have announced that they want to be part of a new competition.

"We're confident that this new competition will capture the imagination of billions of soccer fans all over the world and will be a new, exciting chapter for the game," former Arsenal chief executive Gazidis wrote in a letter to Milan's sponsors and commercial partners.

"The Super League will provide value and support to the whole soccer pyramid with greater financial resources."

Gazidis added that Milan does not want to leave Serie A as a result of the move, with his side nine points behind leaders Inter Milan in this season's competition.

"It will remain the most important weekend competition in Italy and Milan is proud to remain," he wrote.

They even call it fucking soccer now

Well for starters yes because of COVID and lockdowns but prior to that, every field in my area (there's about 35-40 of them) was full of kids playing football whether in a league or just pickup. Football is growing, but again the only time ANY sport isn't about money is with the kids.

That's the intent, to play domestic games. But it doesn't guarantee us and the others impunity. We might be looking to a long bureaucratic battle. So far they said they won't punish us, but I wouldn't count 100% on it yet.

Its funny that in Europe football is being played less by kids but here in North America it's the fastest growing sport...

The more I think about the more I'm enticed by the prospect and the more I can understand it.

What I don't like is the monopolizing and franchising aspect of it.

It's a shady thing for these clubs to do. They didn't consult the rest of the ECA and what they're essentially doing is leaving the rest for dead. It's real snake in the grass type shit.

There needs to be a clear path of entry based on merit and the consequence of relegation for even the founding members.

I think I would prefer the champions league to continue and the clubs suspend participating in their national leagues while they're in ESL. These clubs would still compete in their respective national cups.

The problem is that this is a funnel... The narrower that grassroots bottom of the pyramid, the less great talents at the top.

No better time to enter into football than today. The $$ reward/talent ratio is at an all time high :D
