I´ve decided to open a new topic for this player. Because usually, it´s unrealistic to think that we can buy a world-class player, or a super-star if you may.

But Emerson seems to be destined for four different scenarios:

1) He stays with Roma
2) He moves to Juventus
3) He moves to Chelsea
4) He moves to Inter

And this is a delicate matter, because Emerson has the last three years been one of the best central midfielders in the entire Serie A. And he´s still only 27 years old.

Now... We have Cristiano Zanetti, but his inconsistency the last two years is a bit scarying.

Then again, I´ve heard that there exists an even better option than Emerson and he´s for free. The Santos player Renato.

But Emerson seems more likely.

Should we go for it?

We should definately go after Emerson. This guy is a defensive 2-way midfielder who could definately be used in the squad. He could partner Emre or Stankovic well in the middle or he could be played as a DM especially in a 4-2-3-1. This guy would definately help the midfield operate better on both ends of the field and he would be a great buy.

Though even if we were to buy him then I would still want us to keep C.Zanetti.

Though Renato is also a good player so perhaps we should buy him and loan him out no matter what happens with Emerson? I've seen this guy play and he is really good. Fast, good on the ball, can make passes, and can score as well.

ONE WORD: CHELSEA

If we're to compare with Roma and Juventus on curent achievements, Emerson moving here would seem to be a step in the wrong direction. And Juventus won't need him as much because they've got Appiah, Tacchinardi, Maresca and Davids(Coming back from his loan?)Juventus as well has under-achieved the past season.IMO, Emerson will not move to another club in Italia like Juventus which is roughly Roma's standard nowadays. I'd think that he'll move to Chelsea then.The Abramovich guy only knows he's a good player and before anything happens, the wages would be sky high.So, he'll sit with makélélé in a 4-2-3-1 formation an Chelsea'll be Champions League finalists next season and they'll be up against.....US!

I've always been impressed by Emerson. I definitely want to sign him to replace C.Zanetti for the DM position as the latter is very inconsistent and injury-proned during his last 2 years with us. Though the problem is that we'll face stiff competition from Juve, Real Madrid or Chelsea. He may be 'auctioned' and should the price rise to a very high level, it'll be unwise to buy him. If it's less than 10 m Pound, I'm all for him.

I've never seen this Renato dude so I can't comment at him at all. But he seems to be very highly rated by the Brazillians.

I agree.

He´s awesome player, no doubt about that, but he would cost a fortune. I´m thinking about £15 million+ price tag or so. Is he worth it when we already have Cristiano and even buying Perrotta would costs much less. Perrotta´s price could be around £3 million. He isn´t much worse than Emerson IMO.

I agree.

I think guys that he is someone we should really consider..
Even if the price is increased, we should give them players like col_emre mentioned to offload some of our huge squad.

I think they would want the hammer back and i agree, cristiano should go if emerson is coming.
Also we can give them kallon and ventola since they need striker this summer..

Perotta is also interesting and he will be cheap, but emerson is quality..
We need a strong squad.

I definately would rather us buy Emerson then C.Zanetti. Perrotta isn't that much better then C.Zanetti but Emerson is an improvement over them all, offensively especially.

Considering that we have Emre and Stankovic at the same team and none deserves to be benched, it´s obvious that Stankovic has to be played as the attacking midfielder in our team.

So no playmaker is actually needed at this team.

emre can play as a central mid.....or even we could make him an inter gennaro gattuso......so imo emre is a mix mid.........

stank.......is a left mid....or a central mid.....a littlebid infront of the other mid..................

hell no one of them could be our playmaker the next season.........just if we sell vieri.......and we play an adriano-recoba....or martins recoba......
especially that both vieri and adriano need more crosses to be dangerous.........something that we dont have......knowing that zac uses two defensive wingers.........

IMO, a playmaker is not a must-have for a team to be successful. A quick example I can think of is the 98/99 Man Utd team and the current Arsenal team. They have no playmaker at all. Totti/Aimar/Ronaldinho...These players will never ever come to Inter, at least not in this lifetime!!! Let's stop dreaming. With the current budget, current avaliability of players and our current reputation; we won't be able to get any good playmakers. Just those unproven ones like David Pizarro. And sorry, I'll rather stick with a no-playmaker midfield duo of Emre -- Stankovic rather than accepting him with the sacrificial of one of Emre or Deki.
