Reports: Drogba admits Inter move
Thursday 27 March, 2008
There are reports in Italy that Chelsea star Didier Drogba has told teammates that he will be joining Inter in the summer.

The Ivorian marksman has made it clear that he wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and is looking for another major European club.

Drogba has been increasingly unsettled at Chelsea since the departure of manager Jose Mourinho last year and both Milan sides have reportedly been lining up bids.

Now it seems that the Italian champions are in pole position for the 30-year-old’s signature after the Corriere dello Sport reported that he had told his Chelsea colleagues that he would be wearing the Nerazzurri jersey next term.

The fee required for such a high-profile transfer is estimated to be around £18m, but it is understood that there have been no talks between the two sides as yet.

There are also rumours that Drogba has been lured by the prospect of Mourinho replacing Roberto Mancini at the helm.

Mancio’s position has been jeopardised by his attempt to resign after Inter’s elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool.

Rafa Benitez and Cesare Prandelli have also been touted as possible successors to Mancini in the Beneamata hot seat.

Drogba Tells Team-Mates He’s Signing For Inter

Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba has told club team-mates that he will be signing for Inter in the summer, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Drogba is certain to quit Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, as he wants a new challenge abroad, and the only question mark up until now is where he will end up.

Only four teams have a realistic chance of luring the Ivorian; Milan, Inter, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

According to the Corriere, as well as a number of other sources in Italy, Drogba has told his Chelsea team-mates that he will in fact be signing for Inter.

The 30-year-old has agreed to the move as he wants to link up once again with Jose Mourinho, who is looking highly likely to replace Roberto Mancini as coach in the summer.

A transfer fee of €23m will be enough to take Drogba from West London to San Siro, where the ex-Marseille man will form a terrifying-looking forward partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. :)

Great striker, without a doubt but is he the right man for us, is what I would love to ask ??

It would had been great if Mourinho done what he did in Chelsea by bringing in the best striker of the French League (then it was Drogba and now Benzema, even though he has'nt reached the height but he's thought to be in the line).

I hate Drogba's character and so on but so is Mourinho's case the same. But may be Mourinho and Drogba could bring us the success right away.

It would just be like Real's purchase of Ruud (from Man Utd).

I am not sure if I do like this transfer, coz I would have preferred someone like Torres, Benzema (if Adriano's out of sight). But may be there's another conspiracy way to like this transfer and that is if it would mean Balotelli would still have a future with us by not bringing in a young striker like Torres/Benzema.

:)

lol ..

But the best thing would be that on the field, Zlatan will finally have a strike partner who's one hell of a goal scorer !! That's the best thing of it though.

I hope that won't be the case. Instead, I would not want Drogba. There could be other options than Drogba for sure and if Mourinho doesn't agree, then one should doubt if he's a great coach.

Drogba is a winner. Bring him if Jose wants him. We don't need to include balotelli in any deal. Chelsea wont keep Drogba if he wants to go.

Perfectly suits Serie A, do I need to say more? ;)

About his age, well our two target strikers, Cruz and Crespo, are already older than Drogba, so I don't think that it makes much difference.

It's always good to have a player in his age, specially when Zlatan, Suazo, Balotelli and maybe Adriano are all young.

If he joins, then sadly one of Cruz or Crespo is going to leave. I think it's Crespo, only because Mourinho let him go for free when they were with Chelsea.

He's 30 already.Just dont have a good feeling whenever we decide to sign 30 plus players.I am praying that he's not our Centenary star and if he is then our Creative Mid Fielder would be little Jimmy once again.:p

Drogba would be at peak for max 2 years and he will cost us a fortune.I really dont know how this will turn out.

However Drogba and Ibra both at Peak will mean whole of Italy can see our Ass for few more years.

Moruinho will bring Essien as well as Carvalho. For Essien :star: but for Carvalho not sure.

Me not, two strikers at once? no thanks, what would we do with Zlatan, Balotelli, Suazo, Crespo/Cruz (if they won't go) or Adriano (if he will come back).

Crespo will mostly move on.It will not be a good thing if Mario is loaned out.
Zlatan and Cruz would be there for sure.

I predict both cruz and crespo to leave... Inter might cash in on Cruz while they can... Chelsea should give crespo another year in england or send him to a lowly clb in italy. Drogba, Adriano, Ibra, Suazo and Balotelli gives us a killer attack force...

Would be my dream signing of the year. It has become crystal clear that we need a striker who can relieve Zlatan from all the duties. We need first and foremost a goal-scorer, and who better than Drogba? A world-class striker with experience from a big team.

Drogba and a world-class offensive midfielder, and we have our team for next season.
