Inter: No More Arrivals
8/8/2005 11:18:00 AM
Inter president Giacinto Facchetti says the club will not be signing any more players after the numerous arrivals at the San Siro this summer.
Luis Figo, Walter Samuel, Santi Solari, David Pizarro and Pierre Wome have all been signed as Inter look to close ground on Juventus and Milan.

"Our shopping spree is over for this summer," said Facchetti. "We do hope to sell a few players though."

Francesco Coco is expected to join Newcastle, Andy van der Meyde has been linked with a move elsewhere, and Cristiano Zanetti is a target for Juventus.

Same news here:

After snapping up three Real Madrid stars and David Pizarro, Inter have announced they’ll only be selling players from now on.

The club has been heavily linked with Genoa hitman Diego Milito, who is also a prime target for Juventus, Milan and Real Saragozza.

“Our shopping spree is over for this summer,” insisted President Giacinto Facchetti. “We do hope to sell a few players, though.”

There is a list of squad members who are now surplus to requirements following the arrival of Luis Figo, Walter Samuel, Santiago Solari, Pierre Wome and Pizarro.

The first to cut ties with the Nerazzurri will probably be Francesco Coco (pictured), who was allowed to leave the pre-season training camp last week in order to hold negotiations with other clubs.

Talks with Ajax fell apart, but the injury-ravaged full-back is expected to sign for Newcastle United on Tuesday, where he will reunite with former Inter teammate Emre Belozoglu.

Andy van der Meyde was also linked with Ajax, Benfica and Stuttgart, but the Dutchman has so far been unable to find a new club following a disappointing spell at the San Siro.

Cristiano Zanetti is pushed on to the sidelines by the arrival of Pizarro and Solari, while he is a prime target for Juventus. Coach Fabio Capello has been an admirer since their time together at Roma and wishes to bring in another alternative for the midfield partnership of Patrick Vieira and Emerson.

At first they had offered Fabrizio Miccoli in exchange for the Italian international, but now it’s reported the deal will be struck for Igor Tudor.

Inter remain wary of this move, however, as they are still smarting from Fabio Cannavaro’s sudden switch from flop to hero within a year of his move to Turin in a swap deal with goalkeeper Fabian Carini.

If this is the case, nice job management :star:

Well yah really,it will all depend on if Martello wants to sign a new contract or not, because the managment already said he is untransferable, hence if he will leav, that means he didnt want to sign a new contract, but for some reason i have a felling he wont leave us,just a feeling. :)

The latest on Coco:

Newcastle set to sign Italy defender Coco on loan
Mon Aug 8, 2005 12:43 PM BST

LONDON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Newcastle United hope to tie up the loan signing of Inter Milan defender Francesco Coco in the next 24 hours, the English Premier League club said on their website on Monday.

The 28-year old left-back, who has won 17 caps for Italy and previously played for AC Milan and Barcelona, has been training with Newcastle.

"We are in negotiations with Inter Milan over Francesco Coco coming here on loan for the rest of the season with an option to purchase," said Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd.

Marco Andreolli will be our fifth defender, which is a very good initiative from our part.

Loaning out Coco with an option to buy is the best solution for all parties, especially us. He's off our wage bill and this way Newcastle will actually have to pay us cash for him by next year because I think they will be satisfied with his services.

BTW Jimmy, if Andreoli will be our 5th defender, does that mean that Burdisso isn't really coming back in time for the start of the season? That he really will be back in January or next summer? Has anything official been announced by Boca? Or is he going to another team?

i like the prospect of making a young defender our last defender, thats how it supposed to be,a 5th striker a young one,a young defender the 5th,this way there wont be any problems, our defence is good for now,for the season, its like this we have 4 defenders and burdisso on loan to boca,if matterazzi stays for all the season, buridsso should be loaned to a siere a team,if matterazi isnt playing and wants to get sold,we sell him and burdisso stays here, simple as.

mihilovic will not be released,he will be retired, but what i am syaing is OF matterazi wants to be sold,so we will have cordoba, samuel, miha and burdisso, miha will retire in the end of the season and then we get potenze back to be 4th defender and also J.Zanetti back up.

Yeah! Get Burdisso back when the season is over. We have already Samuel, Cordoba, Matrix and Miha.

And...

If We Sell Hammer unwillingly , Never Sell to Juve!!!

We would rather exchange that Zanetti+Andy+7-8M <-> Chivu!!

That's Win-Win Deal...and Boumsong puts up Cuchu's Backup. If then Chivu is our Left Back.

Or else, extend contract and remain Hammer!!

Loaning out Coco with an option to sell them wud indeed be great, but lets also hope that they will pay Coco's whole wage and not helped by us.

And yes, it does seem that Andreolli will be our fifth defender. As for Burdisso, it's been reported that he will play for Boca Juniors till the winter transfer market. May be by then Matrix might want to move to other clubs to play more to be in the WC 2006 squad, then we could bring in Burdisso to be our 3rd/4th defender.

Nothin official has been announced on this though. ;)
