MILAN - "Yes, it's true. We have spoken with Palermo's managers," said Inter technical director Marco Branca to journalists on leaving the Italian Football League's offices this afternoon. "We have talked things over and we will be seeing each other again in two or three days. Grosso? We haven't reached an agreement."
Branca, after today are you closer to or further away from Fabio Grosso?
"We were very close, but we haven't reached an agreement."
Luca Toni is having problems with Fiorentina...
"I take care of Inter's problems, not those of other clubs."
But would Toni like to join Inter?
"I don't know. Ask him."
Did you see the banner outside the Italian Football League's offices bearing the words 'the rules were only for Inter'?
(Branca smiles) "I think the rules should be for everyone. The rules before were respected by the other teams as well, not just by us."
Were you honestly expecting a scandal of such large proportions?
"I wasn't expecting it to be this big. There were a few things in the air, but I think something good can come out of all this."
What do you think of the decision to entrust the Italian FA's Investigations Bureau to (Clean Hands judge) Francesco Saverio Borrelli?
"He is a serious person."
So Luis Figo was right when he accused Luciano Moggi...
"There's no need to comment on this. The facts have gone before us."
So do you want to comment on the declarations made by Fabio Cannavaro who has defended Moggi and Juventus by saying everyone did these things?
"Each person has his own vision of the world. It is not ours."
Every player wants to join Inter now. What do you think about this?
"There are many players in the world who would like to come to Inter because it is a big club with a great tradition."
What do you think about the idea of having foreign referees in the Italian championship?
"It could be a good idea for the first year to give a semblance of surprise. However, there are people in charge to handle these matters."
Is it true that every club telephoned those who appointed the referees?
"Yes, it is, but to find out which referee there was."
So what is the difference between Inter and the others?
"We all know what the difference is. There's no need to clarify."
What punishment do Juventus face?
"I don't know. There are authorities, and new ones at that, who will study the documents, and I'm sure they will make the right decisions."
Not everyone seems to like the Italian Football Federation's new commissioner Guido Rossi...
"I believe he's a serious and competent professional. And you can't always please everyone in life."
Did Italy coach Marcello Lippi do well not to resign?
"If he's calm, then yes."
