Feels like he wasn't completely fit to play. He was almost inexistent in these minutes he played. We need him to spit fire after the break.

Also against Sassuolo. He was nullified. So far not so good.

He needs to get himself more involved in the game, especially when our team is in control of the game. I love his grinta, but this is not the first time that he's almost completely unknown once he comes in. Working on Frattesi is one of the biggest tasks for Limone.

Agreed, so far I would say he just doesn’t really seem super technical for a midfielder. He’s a very good runner and will get into good positions and score/assist. However no one is going to confuse him for Modric when it comes to holding possession and playing under pressure.

Yep. He's not taking anyone's starting spot by playing lile this. He's more like a great sub we put in to have those world class penalty box runs.

He is like midfield version of Gosens. I dont think Limoneball fits him.

Meh.. too early to make any sweeping judgments. No he’s not as skilled at dribbling as Mkhitaryan, nor does he have the passing range of Hakan, and he doesn’t show for the ball like Barella, but he has his own skill set and will grow with time. He has something extra compared to the average footballer; I’m sure of it. He’s also trying to break into one of the best midfields in Europe.

I agree that he currently does not seem like he'll break into the starting 11 anytime soon. Having said that, it's good to have players with different characteristics and he gives us something we lack, which can be important in some games.

Even though I don't think he was particularly great against Salzburg, both of our goals benefitted from his runs (even though the first was a lucky 'assist').

He also hasn't had too many starting appearances. I believe he's only started two games, so he definitely deserves more time in the coming matches.

Starting to get a little concerned with his overall game. He is impactful in moments where we can get him in position to make the final pass or score. However, he doesn’t do the basic things that a midfielder should do at a high level.

He doesn’t show for the ball under pressure, and when he receives it he doesn’t seem to know what to do with it. He often runs away from where play is building up aimlessly. I am all for his runs that break the line but only when they make sense in the context of the game.

It’s early days so I don’t want to be too harsh but his technique is kind of Vecino like. The good news is the stuff he does well he does very well. He will score and assist, however you can’t have a midfielder that’s non-existent when he’s not scoring or assisting. That can work sometimes with forwards but not midfielders. We don’t need a midfield Icardi.

Yeah he's def not Barella or Mhkitaryan replacement as of now. On top of those mentioned qualities he has, I like a lot his build. He's a fucking tank, very strong in those midfield challenges, fighting for that ball with pure physicality. He's not super tall but very, very physical.

I think people are spot on about him, his weakness is buildup plays, but he excels in running from depth, getting into scoring positions, dribbling, and a beast for defending as a midfielder.

That said, it doesn't make him a better or a worse midfielder than the others, but a different type that matches with different strikers, like if Sanchez drops down and do playmaking more or of Asllani carries more on the buildup and he does more on the defense and off ball running.

Also very good in late games when we need to charge the box or strengthen or d line protection.

That's how I feel as well. Right now, he doesn't really 'fit' this midfield or the way we play. One guy we're linked to who would actually fit Inzaghi's system really well is Zielinski imo. I do hope that Inzaghi can work with Frattesi on improving him. He did a great job with Calhanoglu (different situation obviously) and having him adapt to a different position.

Having said that, Frattesi definitely should be useful over the course of the season. He won't replace Mkhi/Barella as a like-for-like but there will be games/moments where we really need his directness.

His current failure to break into our starting lineup is a testament to our midfield strength. Gone are the days when Kondogbia with the awareness of worm and technique of ox was a guaranteed starter because of his transfer fee. So far I am not really worried because Frattesi is not bad, but our starters are better. It will be very alarming if he still cannot gel with our team after a season while Mkhi starts regressing.

he is the Barella replacement. A team offers 80m for Barella and then Frattesi is the starter. Hopefully some of that money goes to find a Mhkitaryan replacement for next season.

Nobody is paying 80 mil for Barella right now, with no goals after 10 Serie A games.

Frattesi looks somehow disconnected from our style and his teammates. But I wouldn't call him a failure. Inzaghi needs to work more with him in order to find his place or to fit his characteristics to the team. I think Frattesi's instructions were to attack the box more, but when he is not engaged there, he seems somehow lost.

I think he suffers because of our style. We like to have possession and our midfielders are flawless technically to avoid other teams pressing. Our midfielders technique is also crucial for our counterattacks.
He would look better playing for Juventus or Milan, because their midfielders have similar qualities to Frattesi and they don't need so technical midfielders, rather good runners and muscles.

But well, Dumfries made huge progress in these 2.5 seasons over Inzaghi, right now he is able to contribute in our passings, so why Frattesi can't learn that. It's matter of time. And he could add the dimensions we sometimes lack, like physicality and runs forward.
