People also don’t understand that he can’t play like he’s currently player under Spaletti-ball.

Yes, he looks very dynamic and dangerous with his runs into the box. However, until he’s proven himself to possess Miki/Valero type attributes, he’s simply a bad fit to start over Miki. He simply won’t have the freedom to do that playing on the left. Miki plays very reserved and drifts back when Dimarco and Bastoni bomb forward.

If Frattesi does start, it’ll either be ahead of Barella, or we’ll have completely change our play-style. This may well be what ends up happening (I can see Barella playing ahead of Miki and Frattesi playing on the right) but it’s not going to happen three games into the season and it’s especially not going to happen when what we currently have is working like clockwork.

At the end of the day, it’s a wonderful dilemma for a team to have.
You're asking for too much from some people.

There's also the chemistry factor. He's been wirh Italy for 1.5 years now and most of the core is the same. And he's played with several of the guys at youth NT level.

All that being said though, he looks to have a lot of potential. Looked incredibly dangerous in the final third.

he needs to adapt and learn how to play like Mkhitaryan... even tho it would be much better for him to play like himself.

I guys can't understand why Mhki plays ahead of Frattesi? Perhaps because he was one of our most consistent players last season. He knows exactly how to play in that role.

Mikhy-Barella-Hakan is a well trained unit, they know all the steps of their teammates. Giving a Frattesi a starting spot would unbalance it and you don't want that vs top of the table clash. Midfield is thee most important battles in derbies.

Frattesi is a nobody for Inzaghi still. Mikhy will have a good game Im sure.

Be patient, he will end the season as a starter, also Onana started on the bench last year.
Onana came to Inter after not playing football for almost 2 years and Inzaghi still thought Handanovic had something in him, which he didn't... Frattesi came to Inter as one of the best midfielders in Italy and cost 35M.... Time for adapting was in the preseason, where he was pretty much our best player.
Theres a bunch of teams out there that have well run units and when a new/better player comes, someone from those guys is benched... Also, I know Inzaghi wont do it, cause he's scared to make such big and drastic changes. I am just saying what I'd like to see.

Look at the big picture guys, Arnautovic scoring a brace vs Sweden, Frattesi brace. Denzel playing out of his mind etc. Competition inbetween your squad brings hunger and motivation. This is all good news. Frattesi and Arna were stars in Bologna and Sassuolo now they are waterboys here. They want to change that.

Love that.

I do expect him to get his first start against Empoli. After derby/CL, we play Empoli/Sassuolo/Salernitana in the space of a week, so I would expect him to start 2 of those games, as I'm guessing Inzaghi will try to rotate Barella and Mkhi (perhaps Hakan too) in some of those matches.

I would only be disappointed if I see Klaassen getting a start ahead of Fratessi - that's the only thing that would make me question Inzaghi.

Frattesi < Mihki or Mikhi < Frattesi...until we are winning, couldn't care less.
Totally agree with you. We didn't get Frattesi to be an instant upgrade for our current middle, but to get on depth and as a long-term solution in midfield.

And actually, it's Mkhitaryan, so it's Mkhiy :p So weird I know.

I can see it happening.

As to this Mkhi vs Frattesi debate - as was discussed by the football illuminaries on the ground-breaking INTER JECTIONS podcast, Mkhitaryan is much more of a playmaker, more of a creator and much better suited to possession football. Frattesi is not as good on the ball, he's better off it and finishing moves - almost like a midfield Gosens.

If we replaced Mkhitaryan with Frattesi, I daresay we'd lose a lot of that fluidity and finesse in moving the ball around. Frattesi is more likely to pass sideways and run into the box to make himself an option to receive a cross, rather than facilitate our possession gameplay.

As for Klaassens, I always found him to be quite technical and skilled on the ball. I think it's totally possible that Inzaghi sees Klaassens as the best like-for-like Mkhitaryan replacement which would allow him to retain an intelligent and technical passer in midfield.

In fairness, we're only 3 games into the season. If the situation hasnt changed by the end of Oct, lets say, then I'd be really fucking baffled and annoyed. But taking a little bit of time to help him find his feet, and not disrupt the rhythm of a team that has conceded 0 goals and scored 8 isnt toooooo unreasonable. though i personally would have probably started Frattesi in at least one game by now.

We ve played 3 games the dude is new in the squad and 2 of the 3 positions he could take are in the hands of hakan and Barella... but yeah we re idiots for no starting the kid give me a fucken break...
Also lets give Inzaghi and frattesi a bit more time together before we bash inzaghi fro not starting frattesi

We’ll have played roughly 50 fixtures by the time this season has ended. Mkhi is not playing every single one of them. Nor is Hakan or even Lautaro tbh. There will be rotation. And injuries unfortunately.

Now like .h. said, if there hasn’t been much change in a few months than yeah it’d be annoying but it’s still way too early to speculate on what Inzaghi is doing. So far, he’s been spot on though. Let Davide adjust in a calm way. Playing at Sassuolo isn’t quite the same as playing for Inter.
