It is true, especially the last two seasons have been difficult for CZ. The last season at Roma and the season after that he was a killer. He's just had too much injury difficulties in the last two years.

That´s exactly the point I was after.

I also agree that the hammer is underrated in italy . You can see this as Capello likes him , However I remember that we relied so much on him last year and that we he got injured ...we suffered till we knew that he will return at the derby to get injured yet again .

I really like him as a player and i hope that he plays his own game , and you guys will see how great this lad is . I mean look at the way he passes or build up play . Extra-ordinary . The way he tackles also , the hammer shall return to his form guys and then we will be very much balanced in midfield and defense .

I've been reading some stuff about Il Martello today.

On Yahoo Sports Italia they were speculating that Juve are in talks with Barca to sell them Tacchinardi (I guess they're losing it at Barca if that's true...). This would mean that they would try and get CZ again.
They stress the fact that he would be happy to find Capello as his new coach.

But Gazzetta.it quotes him saying this:

"I feel great at Inter, I hope to stay here as long as possible because I want to win with this colours, and get some stones out of my shoes"

People must differeniate between 2 things. You like a player is something(even though he might be average) and Convincing the others that he is "great" is something else.

I dont like Raul for example but I can never say "he is bad or avearge", even though nowadays or lets say for the past year now, he sucks but yet he is one of the best strikers in the world.

Now concerning Zanetti, I liked the guy before and I admit that. But he failed to impress me because I've seen other midfielders growing to become better players and he is not improving a bit. It is not about his injuries but even when he plays, he is not committed and lacks spirit. I WILL ALSO KEEP SAYING IT, HIS 30/40 M PASSES ARE JUST STUPID.

People here are saying that it is not an accident when he plays for Italy, but I say that it is a "crime" that he is even called up for the squad!!
I will be the 1st one to appluad him when he plays good (that's if he plays) but for the mean time, I fully believe in what I've just said.

P.S. Capello liking him is another story. Doesnt Capello likes Zebina; the guy that everyone bashes here??? Capello also liked Panucci, one of the worst right-backs I've seen in my life.

Well, I have to agree with Sherif here. Cristiano Zanetti IMO has been one of the most over-rated player in some Inter forums I have been to. It is true that CZ was very impressive in his first season, serving as the last line of protection before the back-4 themselves. But after the injury he got during the summer of 2002, he has hardly put a consistent string of great matches. A few brilliant matches, yes, against Arsenal (Highbury) and Juve (Delle Alpi) for example, but they were accompanied by numbers of disappointing performances. Of course injuries didn't help him either.

For all those reasons, he had a poor record over the last 2 seasons and this made me as one of the few who would like to see someone to come and improve the DM position. Now, Davids, who has been a great DM over the past few years, has came and I think rather than hoping an off-form Cristiano return to his old self, I'd rather put an off-form Davids and hoping he can return to form, which is not very far away since the last tine Davids is in form is just a few months back.

I still think it's an absolute blunder to not let him go to Lazio for Nesta. :( Although I admit that at that time, I wasn't very sure as well since Nesta had to endure a torrid 01/02 season whereas Cristiano was one of Serie A's best ball-winner over the last 2 seasons.

Well, Zebina just got a call-up for France national team. And you didn´t watch much Euro 2004. I suppose that, because of what you said about Panucci.

Could you be at least a bit objective in your opinions. Don't get me wrong, I actually hate Panucci, but he is actually good, he should definately be in Italy's squad, but biased Lippi hates him, so he prefers to experiment with some average right backs.

What comes to Zebina, he was actually ok last season in Roma and this season hasn't been that bad either.

I'd rather have an off-form Cristiano than that hothead Davids (I simply can't like him).

I always knew that Il Martello was going to be a vital player for us.

And just think that some of you wanted to give him to Gobbi!!

I think CZ will have a tag for a long time. He was the player we refused to give Lazio for the Nesta deal, I for once find myself treating him harshly at times, I just keep remembering that episode that summer.

But against Milan he was actually initiating foward movements. Not to mention the ball between Gattuso's legs.

Oh really ? Did we refuse Nesta to keep il Martello ?? I mean tell me more about this guys . I wasn't really into Inter that much like i am now back then . Besides C.zanetti is pure class if he keeps on playing the way he did against Milan .

The Nesta saga is one of the unsolved mysteries, few people know what actually happened.

I can tell you with certainty that Lazio wanted about $20M and CZ for Nesta. We agreed but Hector Cuper - oh I haven't typed this name in a while, been busy to post his latest news, but the news from the islan isn't so promising as of late :( - said no. He considered CZ untouchable, and at that moment he was.

So, we were going back and forth with Cragontti - may he stay in jail if he did what i will say at the end - all summer long, before and aftere the world cup. Then we got busy with the Ronaldo thing and left the Nesta file.

And then, in a sad day, I read that we sold Ronaldo and Milan bought Nesta both at the same time. That was the third saddest moment in my inter life. I don't how the heck it happened but they paid $30M and got their men.

The unofficial story goes that Galliani threatened Cragnotti that he will demote Lazio to Serie B if they sold us Nesta. Lazio were in dire financial trouble, so Cragnotti took the short way out. However, he got jailed later for financial manipulations and the whole cover about Lazio's problems were blown wide open.

I believe in the second theory, becaus the first made no sense. We offered them Emre or $25M and we could've paid them the $30M if they were adamant. Unfortunately we didn't, and we screwed up even more by buying a junk called Crappavaro.

If CZ can replicate his performance (or anything close to it) against MIlan then he would definately get my vote to start and that whole Nesta ordeal would be forgotten from my heart..

CZ had many good games but more games where he doesnt contribute on both ends so i hope we see him in the same way he played against Milan more often.

Now update these thoughts if you would my dearest SuperHan :)

I never had a doubt that Il Martello would have been a vital player for us this season.

We arent being fair to CZ in a way because of the tag he has...Its not as if he was responsible for us screwing that Nesta deal..He was part of the negotiation and it didnt work out,we should definately stop blaming him.

Hell yeah! Great point.

People keep blaming this dude for too much he did NOT do. :rollani::rolleyes:

He never did anything EVIL to us like painting the devil on the wall so the respect should theoretically be mutual.

However he is so strong mentalily he can take it because of his muscles so any Inter fan is free to critizise.

I´ll sign out of the CZ bashing party now forever of this derby madness.

I can´t take so much excitement in opinion that I´ll leave the forum for a while so you people can get some rest to enjoy the cookies you see in that show. ;)

I really hope Cristiano stays around. It's a real shame that we can't put Cuchu and Il Martello to the same line-up, or atleast Mancini seems unwilling to that. :( He's a worldclass player, one of the best in his position. All I hope he stays. :( :star:
